Durzi out long term according to Utah GM.

Marino stlll week to week.

Kesserling is their 1RHD for the next while...I think Utah gets a deal done for Lily by Saturday.

Jack McBain is the dream. Can play C(below average on the draws)

Likely will be one of their million of 2bd round picks they have.

If they want to get creative Bjugstad is on their IR and is a good bottom 6 C.

That'd be very nice ...but picks that we can convert into a TD purchase work nice too.

I think they could work a mid round pick out of Utah as well in this trade.

And while I agree McBain is 24, he fills a role for the next few years and wouldn't cost much to re sign.

Makes me more comfortable them dealing a Minten or Grebenkin at the TDL if needed.

Treliving has been checking off boxes finding depth well before the TDL, which is his style.

If he makes a trade at the tdl it will be for a quality piece, they will already have the depth.

I'm in no rush to move Robertson, per se - but he does need to consistently demonstrate that he is an NHL player and not just someone who can play well against AHL players. I like his work ethic and I do think he's met some hard luck in the early part of the season but he's also been less than impressive in his last couple of games. Bobby McMann started the season at least one if not two spots below Nick on the depth chart and has not only passed him with solid and consistent play, but moved one or two places beyond him. Like when Dewar and Jarnkrok are ready to return I'd be looking at Holmberg and Robertson as two likely candidates to come out of the lineup.

Presently the idea of McMann playing 2LW doesn't feel that far fetched and the idea of Robertson visiting his least favourite seat in the pressbox is also not that far fetched.

So . . .it's only 4 games in, but life as a bubble player is basically proving yourself every day until you finally don't have to anymore.

- Monkeypunk

McMann has put up more goals in less games than Robertson, and plays a more complete game. He's almost 6" and 40lbs heavier than little Robbie too. I take McMann 10/10 times. Plus, he's a good Berta boy.

Robertson has a heck of a shot, but McMann isn't afraid to go to the dirty spots to score goals. Take away Robertson's time and space, and he's useless.

Ya, got a little loose and undetailed with a 5-0 lead. Kind of a classic sports occurrence.

Although I imagine those two lines - Kampf and JT - got an earful from Baerubae.

We're all going with Baerubae, ya?

JT said he lost 10 pounds from his bout with the flu.

I give him a free pass.

(frank) it, Liljregren for Mcbain.

I do that all day and there is reason for Utah to want to do that as well.

Robertson reminds me of that guy who was always at the local outdoor shinny rink - good at dangling, good at hanging onto the puck, never really making an actual hockey play. Just skating around, not passing, not backchecking, just looking for easy goals, never coming inside.

Did we just find a 2nd line last night? McManimal, Domi and Willie.

Reaves shoulda had the night off b/c I'm assuming he'll be in the lineup Saturday for the lawnmower pull challenge with Rempe.

Whats the reason utah would give up a 6'4 24 year old center for lily? Whos basically a 3rd line D?

Sure the leafs would....but why would utah?

I think lily may get moved for a pick or prospect

Headed to the Marlies game on Sunday, will be interesting to get a good look at some of these guys. I'm hoping Murray gets the start but who knows, I want to see him live and see how he is moving now since his off season surgery.

Now for the "WTF MLSE" part of this.

I'm going because my 9 year old nephew's AAA hockey team is playing at the Marlies rink at 130 and MLSE marketed to teams that they would do this and get discounted tickets for the Marlies game for those who wanted them. Most teams do this as a fund raiser (as my nephew's team did) & I'm happy to help.

The kids play at 130.
The Marlies play at 4.

They are making us leave the rink after the kids game to the re-enter when they open the doors for the Marlies game.

How stupid is that? They could have just left everyone who is there (the what 100 people maybe?) inside, and opened up a concession stand early and probably made some money & not made everyone go outside to wait to come back inside.

Seems stupid to me but whatever.

Why are you making McBain out to be this really valuable piece?

Could say the same about Lily, why trade a 25 year old RHD that produces good results for a guy who plays 11 mins a game and has a cieling of a 3rd/4th line player?

The word game is fun.

Utah has their 2 top RHD out long term, There is a short list of a whopping 1 RHD available that has held their head above water in tougher mins. they have the forward depth, its not rocket science to see how there is a framework for a deal here.

Well if 100 people know that they don't have to leave there will be about 15-20 penny savers in that crowd that will figure out a way to hide or just stay in and not buy marlies tickets.

Businesses can't trust people because there are always people in a crowd that find ways around paying for things.

M'eh I guess I never thought of that angle but they do have to sweep all the people out anyways so why not just check tickets then and if you have a ticket for the Marlies game they give you a stamp or a wristband or something?

If I was running that place that's what I'd have done.

Hell make part of the package a BOGO free hot dog offer or a 25% off souvenir or something to encourage people to kill time by spending money between games.

Oh well.

People will find a way lol.

Also if someone does find a way to, and they would easily, and said person did anything to harm anyone in the marlies crowd then the marlies would be in big trouble.

Its just the safe and less headache thing to do and with a big cooperation thats always the way they will go.

I mean, 4 games in and we've played Montreal (2-2-0), New Jersey (4-2-0), Pittsburgh (3-2-0) and LA (1-1-2) - I don't think at the end of this year 3 of those teams will be in the playoffs - but the Leafs have generally looked good.

I don't think too many of us would complain - at least not yet - about

Knies - Matthews - Marner
McMann - Domi - Nylander
Lorentz - Kampf - Reaves

For me it's really the Pacioretty/Holmberg - Tavares - Robertson line that needs fixing. Does Jarnkrok in for Robertson do it? One thing I feel is that Holmberg is a very fringe NHL'er and I'd rather have Dewar as a bottom-6 sub -- but it's all line 3 that needs work. I wouldn't mind running that with Pacioretty - Tavares - Jarnkrok to see if they could get something going, but that line is slow and defensively pretty iffy.

And as of today - just 4 games in - It feels like moving out Liljegren and Jarnkrok is a good cap option - especially if Jarnkrok isn't providing a role you need or enough value that you're able to roll with him on a daily basis. An RW with some speed and moxy. Liljegren for Jeannot. LA needs defense, we want a 3RW who can bang bodies and if need be step in for Reaves on the 4th line . . .

- Monkeypunk

I thought Lilli played well last night, probably better than Timmins has played but not $1.9M better.

Moving him, Robertson and Holmberg out gives you more than enough to add Jarnkrok, Hakkanpaa and Dewar, especially when you factor in Hildeby going down when Woll is able to play. Moving Kampf either instead of, or in addition to, Nickie adds enough room to add a guy instead of just trading for picks.

I’d see bottom 6 as

Patches, JT, Jarnkrok (I don’t think they’d be that bad defensively)
Lorentz, Dewar, Reaves/Kampf/Steeves

Like I said earlier, Leafs need a real shutdown 3C or a veteran RHD for Liljegren.

I don't think that's asking too much and actually fills at least one area of need.

- Rare_Jewel

Lily is a RHD. He would need a LHD but he still sucks.

Give Benoit/Hakapaa a go and you will see a hard-nosed 3rd pairing that will wreck some (frank)ers.

Im not making him out to be a valuable piece just pointed out facts to you. If that sounds valuable to you, thats fine. But why trade that for a 5-7th overpaid dman is all i asked.
Unless utah has an abundance of big young centers?

But hey, fantasy is fun.
Would be cool to turn lily into a young big talented center.

The tricky part is you can't just trade Lilly the day that Hakanpaa is activated. You need to see if Hakanpaa's knee can actually take the rigours of the NHL.
