They were showing the issues with Colorado, and it looks like they are trying to move to a man on man defense but aren't communicating properly. Some guys just out in the middle of nowhere.

They look like the Blackhawks when Collliton was coaching here

I'm sure it helps that they got 4 guys in the line up that have never played in the NHL until this year, their bottom 6 is not going to help them on the scoreboard, welcome to cap hell Avs. Who exactly are their dmen other than Makar? Manson if not slotted properly is a liability.

Landeskog and Lehkonen being out is hamstringing them. Middlestadt is actually playing pretty well from what I've seen, but Toews being out and their goaltending are probably their biggest issues right now. They simply can't get a stop at all. They have de Haan playing.

Phillips will likely depend on how they think Allan is doing. Wouldn't surprise me if they ultimately thought he'd be better off with more minutes in RFD. Not that I think he's played poorly, but he'd just get more opportunities and TOI in RFD.

If Allen goes down you have a top 5 D in Rockford of;

Korchinski
Arty
Allen
Del Mastro
Crevier

Not too shabby

Indeed. I think they had KK playing with the Crev last game. It will be really interesting to see how the pairs shake out when Arty is cleared. I'd be really interested to see Arty with EDM. I think KK can carry his own pair down there.

Rockford plays tonight, so will be interesting to see how game 2 goes for them. They are back to back tonight and tomorrow with a home and home series with the Milwaukee Admirals.

Good times:

Speculation growing around Montreal Canadiens first-round pick, Ivan Demidov
Marco D’Amico of RG.org: Montreal Canadiens 2024 first-round pick, Ivan Demidov, had seen his ice time with SKA decrease after Evgeny Kuznetsov went down with an injury, but it’s started to creep up again. Demidov has one year left on his SKA contract. Demidov’s head coach Roman Rotenberg

“We’re considering the opinions of our colleagues , but we are focused on our own needs, our tactics, and how our players are feeling,” Rotenberg said in English. “There are a lot of factors. We are no less interested than Montreal in making sure that Ivan – just like our other young players – develops well. Players like Demidov are the future of Russian hockey.”

NHL Rumors: 2025 NHL Draft, Toronto Maple Leafs, and Timothy Liljegren

SKA does have a plan for Demidov’s development but there will obviously be some bumps along the way for the 18-year-old.

Demidov’s contract with SKA ends on May 31st, 2025, and as of now, he is committed to play it out.

Nicolas Cloutier of TVA Sports: (through Google translate) A source who is close to Ivan Demidov’s entourage has said that Demidov was benched after he turned down three contract extension offers from SKA St. Peterburg.

“Ivan refused all three times,” our source said on the phone. “He doesn’t want to know anything about another year with SKA.”

One of the offers was believed to be for two years at approximately $560,000 Canadian with potential bonuses of over $560,000 CDN.

Agent Dan Milstein isn’t commenting while Demidov is playing in the KHL. Since he was drafted, Demidov’s plan has been to come to North America for 2025-26.

NHL Rumors: How Could Mitch Marner’s Season Play Out?

The KHL has a history of ‘blackmailing’ young Russian players by cutting their ice in an attempt to get them to stay longer. CSKA did this with Alexander Romanov and SKA did it with Vasili Podkolzin, Kirill Marchenko, and Yaroslav Askarov.

Two years, one-way. Not sure that really matters that much, but just an extra piece of info.

It matters, cause it wouldn't be one way if they planned on him being in Rockford most of the time.

I would say they plan on him being with big club 2nd half of this year or worst case, next year on

I’m sure that he’s staying up next year, as he will have to clear waivers to go back to Rockford. Works for me, he’ll do a good job on the bottom six. AA, Donato, Maroon, and Smith are all FA’s at the end of the year.

Not at all but Lev isn't ready and I don't think Crevier is an NHL Defenseman.

Definitely i think he's better than AA and Smith already, but i get it they want him to work and get stronger another year in the minors.

McKeen's Hockey is doing a series on AHL rookies to watch this season. They are featuring Nazar and have this to say about him.

If you enjoy dynamic, run-and-gun offence, Frank Nazar may just be your guy. Drafted 13th overall in the 2022 NHL Entry Draft, the American pivot brings a unique and exciting skillset to the Chicago Blackhawks' future top-six. After all, there’s a reason he's earned his place as the Blackhawks' second-rated prospect at McKeen's Hockey.

Backed by showstopping speed and crafty edgework, Nazar excels at weaving through defensive coverage at a high pace. His quick hands make him a constant scoring threat, but it’s his ability to facilitate the play that could truly set him apart in the professional ranks.

Despite being cut short by injury, he made the most of his NCAA career, tallying 48 points in 54 games, 29 of which were assists. Most of that work came in the 2023-24 campaign, picking up 41 points to fire at a point-per-game pace with the Michigan Wolverines.

His impact extended beyond the NCAA; he played a pivotal role for Team USA in the 2024 World Junior Championship, recording eight primary assists en route to capturing gold against host Sweden. To put a cherry on top, his season was capped off by a brief three-game NHL stint, where he netted his first career NHL goal.

Despite the positives in his game, it doesn’t take long to distinguish where the real issues will lie in him realizing his true upside. Standing at 5-foot-9 and 174 pounds, size remains a potential barrier. Luckily, he hasn’t let that deter him from finding his spot on the ice. Nazar plays like a dog on a bone and isn’t afraid to go to the hard areas of the ice. Despite his smaller frame, he consistently drives to high-danger areas, dropping the shoulder and getting into the middle of the ice.

For now, you’ll find Nazar forming his game among the AHL ranks, but don’t be surprised if he gets the call to Chicago sooner rather than later.

Interesting write up on Nazar.
I know Cam Robinson thinks highly of him, and I know Pronman doesn't.
I also know byton bader on X doesn't think he'll turn into anything special:

We can watch and or even just listen to Nazar in Rockford. I am confidant that the eye test and even commentary by the announcers will reveal whether he is an “up and comer.”’ You see his speed and playmaking ability. I do not see any fear of physicality. I would like to see an explanation why they do not think he amounts to much. They are no experts. Let us pay attention to what wiz says

A player I question however if DelMaestro. I wonder whether his skating is only adequate and does it prevent him from being mobile enough? No doubt he has skill and smarts plus leadership ability. An all star AHL as a rookie pro. I am guessing he could become a solid third pair adequate second pair NHL by reliance on smarts too
