Apparently he had some leg issue and that's why he only played 60% of snaps. Just wait until he's getting throws by Mahomes and he'll look just fine. - QuinnFan
Are we talking about the Mahomes who has 6 TD's and 8 INT's so far this season?
That Mahomes? |

Which one is too early to tell?
Prokhorov or Samuelsson?
Not sure how anyone can argue that a 2nd round pick should garner a better return then Beck. - kingcong39
Cause 2nds go for better players. Heck 3rds do.
Mangiapane for a late 2nd
John Marino for (2) 2nds, 5th going along with him
Zucker was just traded for a 6th
Toffoli for a 2nd and 3rd
Kuznetsov for a 3rd
Wennberg for a 2nd and 4th
Tarasenko for a 3rd and 4th
Ross Colton for a 2nd
Reilly Smith for a 3rd

Who on the Sabres current NHL roster would you trade to get a 2nd rd pick in return? I'm guessing we would only want to part with 4th liners or 3rd pair guys (Beck, Laff, NAK, Clifton, Sammy) but other teams should give us better players? - BuffaloHerd
Why defend a bad player at all? That’s the confusion. Same as when we had guys defending Matt Irwin. If a player is empirically bad, why trade an asset for him? Especially one of higher value. You’re moving the goal post. Let’s talk about Beck Malenstyn for pick 43. That’s it. (frank) the capitals traded a 2nd for Andrew Mangiapane, in the same draft. Only double the production minimum, good underlyings. But he’s not big and fast (doesn’t matter at actually being good at playing the hockey) |

I still have hope for PP. He’s playing really well in the KHL now that he’s actually getting playing time. 6 goals 9 assists 15 points in 18 games for a 21 year old in that league shows he can become an effective bottom/middle six possibly. He also doesn’t get much PP time, but does kill a lot. There’s the hope there. |

I see a star, 4 busts, one too early to tell. Beck is bad. If he was traded for a 5th rounder, I wouldn’t care. It was a terrible move. He’s fast. That’s it. Bad advanced metrics. The one thing he was supposedly good at being on the PK is still below average. In short, trading a second rounder should net a better player than Beck. Period. End of discussion. - SDSabre

Mangiapane was traded for a 2nd rounder...
There are trades every year where good players are acquired for picks or prospects. The fact that we can't seem to do that with any consistency is the puzzling part.

Reilly Smith for a 3rd
The list goes on and on. These guys are all significantly more impactful than Beck will ever be. Not trying to be an ass, but it's going too far to say a 2nd rounder can't get a good player. - QuinnFan

That’s an irrelevant question as we all know the answer. Is Beck Malenstyn making a positive impact should the question. My answer is a pretty resounding not so much. He’s fast. Cool. |

I’d be happy to be wrong on him. I’d rather be wrong and he turn into a great(for his standards and role) player. I’d take the poop and eat the crow for it. I just want Buffalo to build a winner. |

Adding to this, as I may be higher one him than most. He’s producing more than Panarin and on par with Kaprizov at the 21 in the K. Not saying he’s going to be them, but I see an NHL player in him. |

So adams gets credit when they show up but its coaches and players fault when they don't?
Lol they did play great last night. Love to see them skating and pressuring. Need to find some consistency with that - ieetbred
Adams won the game 100% last night.
Drafted power, resigned tage and Krebs.

you move off of a top 10 lottery pick, that should result in a player on the top half of your roster IMO
beck is worth a 5th but that is for another day - homiedclown
Beck has played very well so far, well worth an nhl 2nd round pick imo
NHL vet at this point and fits in perfectly |

Goes both ways, if you want to give Adams 100% of the failure , he should receive 100% of the credit when the team wins.
It’s silly blaming Adams 100% , that’s my point
Coaching and the players still have something to do with winning and losing |

Does Blake fit so far or what?
They traded down 3 spots in the first and parlayed that into an nhl player with speed and experience.
