Lifelong Rangers fan back to the 60s. The chemistry on these lines is fun to watch. They cycle so well and just know where each other is going to be. Chytil stays healthy he is going to be a beast. As far as Trouba hit goes my feeling is that it was clean but of all his big hits this one was unnecessary. Games well in hand, player had his head down, just take him out dont have to pulverize him. First time that I wished Trouba had held back a bit actually felt sorry for the player.

Kakko is different this year. Not that they want him to take penalties but he has a few the last couple of games. He's involved and completely engaged. He is starting to feel it.

Totally agree. The penalties may eventually hurt, but he's totally in the games and learning he is big and strong; tough to move from the front of the net, too.

Mika had a great game too. If he scored on that play where He deked through like 3 defenders in the middle of the ice and got loose for a breakaway that would’ve been awesome

Sure, be more aware out there, but also maybe the league should discourage TBI’s a bit more. It will pay off when you don’t lose players to early retirement. Not sure on what the solution is exactly, but I imagine there’s something that can be done that won’t eliminate big hits altogether.

I don't see how it's on Gallagher. Sure they were going at it the shift before, but with Barron coming into the zone the way he was, do you really think that if the shift before didn't happen Trouba wouldn't have stepped up the way he did? That's just Trouba playing his game I don't think he was taking out any frustration or acting in a way that was out character for him.

I also think it was a perfectly clean hit so maybe that's why I don't see it as retaliatory in any way

I remember in 1983-84 season they won the first 5 games, lost a really close game on a saturday night in St Louis and then they won another 4 in a row '

I remember someone asking Herb Brooks, maybe it was Fischler, "Can your team go 79-1?"

Trouba decides to step up and take the body at the same time that Barron decides to lower his eyes and reach forward to find the puck, endangering himself. And, all of this happens in the blink of an eye.
If there is any element of contact in a game played at this speed, there is the risk of serious injury. I don't like to see it any more than you do, but it's simply part of the game and players need to make decisions accordingly. That's part of why they make so much money.

Perhaps but it deserves a deeper dive than “it’s an unfortunate result but completely unavoidable without fundamentally altering how the game is played”. I just don’t think the NHL is interested in that deeper dive, unless it pressures their wallet

Stop being so sensitive, we knew this team was going to be good, the first few games were against non playoff off teams last year so they did their job and won the games they were suppose to. Leafs game was tough but Igor bailed them out.

5v5 has improved but to say anything after 6 games doesnt mean anything. A better sample size is needed and against better opponents.
