Ok, you can certainly have your beliefs about what Pettersson should be doing but I think with a different mindset on what Pettersson should do.
1st off I don’t criticize him for 11.6 salary, Alvin imposed that, Alvin should have held out because of his slow finish to last season, that is on Alvin not Pettersson so all this poop is hyperbole.
2nd and another hyperbole bullpoop that gets under my skin is “folks need to stop making excuses for the guy”. It might be hard to fathom but because other Canuck fans disagree with your and other impatient fans hyperbole doesn’t mean they are making excuses, they are being realistic without the “sky is falling”. I personally believe Pettersson will be close to if not over the 100 point total. Not an excuse, not an old guy screaming at a cloud scenario just what I think without hyperbole or coddling.
Tocchet uses Pettersson in all aspects, he played the most minutes last game, why aren’t you trashing Tocchet for his reliance on Pettersson in all situations, guess Pettersson should just tell Tocchet to stuff his 200 foot game, he should just stand at the blue line waiting.
Anyway different way of looking at things.

I disagree, lunatic fans are the ones who rioted in 2011, realistic fans said to themselves, let’s get back at it and go for it again next year.

I know you’re just saying crap for the sake of saying it, however, the truth is he’s still contributing to their success. His even strength goal drought started March 21, 2024 until the end of the season, a span of 13 games. But he still contributed 7 points, was plus three, averaged 20 minutes a night and was 51% on faceoffs. Similar stats in the playoffs, but yes, he needs to score.

I get that you like face punchers, he’s another soft Swede. But. He’s a fantastic player and both the Canucks management and players know it. This will blow over when he has a few multi point games….until then we listen to the drama queens.

One goal for $11.6MM is an awful player. How are your standards this low? It’s pathetic. Does Aman deserve $11.6MM? Very similar, low event players

I went to that game with my wife. I waited until Chara raised the cup and then we left. Walked out, looked up Georgia and saw the smoke and a helicopter fly over, said to my wife let's get the fuck out of here.

We lived in Yaletown at the time so got back home and watched the rest on tv. I was so depressed about not seeing my team raise the cup live, the riots were a nice distraction.

I got gassed in 94, I was watching the game at the Starbucks and ended up caught in the crowd after the idiot climbed the pole and kicked and broke the sign. I even ended up seeing that loser get shot in the brain with the rubber bullet, yelling "HIT ME!"

He was an idiot, ended up with really bad brain damage because he was stupid drunk and challenged the riot cops who were pissed and scared because they never had trained or dealt with an actual riot before.

People thrive on negatives we should be used to it by now. I sure like Sherwood and Lanky the 2 best signings so far although a small sample size.

Good quotes from Imac on this:

“Players in today's game, I guess, they are compared to how many points they score (to determine) if you're playing good or not,” [Pettersson] said. “I can create a lot of chances and not get points. In some eyes, that's not playing well. Sure, I could have some more points. I've created chances, I’ve had good chances to score, I had a crossbar. You never know what chances you're going to get, so you try to work hard and make plays and see what happens.”

Pettersson described his clash with Miller, so polar opposite in many ways, as “two guys working hard in practice.”

Miller declined Friday to even discuss it with reporters.

“It's nothing, right?” Garland said. “Me and Dakota (Joshua) went at it (last season). I've gone at it with millions of guys. It means nothing, so it's just funny that people talk about it. But I guess it’s cool... people care and when stuff like that happens, it makes a story. It's cooler than when I was in Arizona and nobody heard about it.

“The only thing I told Petey was, ‘In two weeks, this is all gone and we're talking about how well you're playing. And then you've just got to stay even keel on that side of it.’ That's how it is in this market. Just play.”

Working out very well for this teams start in factoring in the wins.

I don’t think they can maintain the pace of their statistical performance over the season. But it still will be career years for them be the end.

That’s always good for management when you sign new players that they get that performance. Makes others want to come here more as well on bargain deals.

He’s been getting a lot of media attention and the Friedman speculative piece ramped it up too. So I guess some talk back is needed. However nothing better then scoring them goals and primary assists to get the discussion focused elsewhere lol.

Yes, 100%, the best thing he can do is shut-out the noise and just play. The room is tight. Good to see Garland showing some leadership and speaking out.

Some fair points here of course. In comparison however how would fans feel if Draisaitl at 14 mil per 'suddenly' became a 70 point player but his 200' game was better? Come on. In Petey's defence I do think Tocchet actually needs to use him better in the top 6. Garland and Hogs are fine but Petey is not going to fully succeed with those two on his line in a supporting role.

I just find the 'it's only been 6 games this season' kind of funny is all but it needs to be talked about. It's not '6' games...it's like 40 games now dating back to march with 1 goal at 5/5. Time for excuses for this kid is past doesn't matter if we are only 7 games in the season. I have faith he will pull out of it a bit but there are signs of concern.

Sure Tocchet is using Petey in many situations and his TOI is high...but he needs to start producing. 'Scoring in bunches' was reserved for guys like Horvat and a few others we have moved on from lol. Petey is above that and needs to be consistent and has the ability to do so.

And believe me if Tocchet doesn't start using Petey properly I'll be trashing him too. Count on it.

It's ok. His 200' game is better and he will be Barkov soon.
