Patrick better go to the Owners and tell them it's him or me. No reason Patrick has to play Lou's mistakes. Barry had the same issues with no say on the roster. This is going to turn into the Neil Smith Patty L mess.

Certainly looks that way. We fans can’t catch a break lol

You think it's hard to sign UFA's now? Just wait to see how much harder if Patrick leaves. This will severely hurt the rep of this team even more. I can see someone like Barzal asking out. The owners have to fire Lou today.

Hearing Patrick Roy and Lou Lamoriello had a major verbal fight before tonights game vs FLA about certain recent transactions and Lou is forcing Roy to play players he doesn’t want in his lineup. Major tension between coach and GM I’ve heard there’s a good chance Roy will resign.

Not sure about the authenticity but it kinda makes sense

Yeah saw that as well. Makes sense with what Roy said to the press about Lou deciding it was time to play Engvall. Could be BS based solely on that quote as well who knows but it’s believable at the very least. Engvall was… well let’s just say he looked like Engvall last night. 😆

Seems very believable. So much for accountability and the best players playing.

Lou gave the guy a 7 year contract. Of course he wants Engvall to play. I don't know if it's an ego thing or if Lou really believes in him. Either way he will push to keep him playing.

It's an ego thing. It makes Lou look bad with Pierre in Bridge. Lou does not admit mistakes. It's never his fault or his players fault, but the coaches fault.

I don't think Roy has that kind of leverage. It's not like he's Scotty Bowman.

However I do understand the frustrations. I would respect the hell out of Roy if he were to walk away on principal.

Roy may not have the leverage, but I’m picking Patrick over Lou at this point. The owners need to do the same thing. Fans will not be unhappy with Lou gone and the fans might respect the move. It’s going to be very embarrassing having to explain another coach having to be replaced and Lou getting to hire another coach.

If the isles keep blowing leads which is highly probable something has to give and I don’t think it’s Roy who gets red slipped.

I think Roy’s comment said it all. He threw Lou right under that bus. The fact that we’re seeing last years roster (almost identical) and still blowing leads is extremely frustrating as a fan.

I’ll say it again Lou will leave how he wants too from this organization when the time comes. The owners will live and die with the guy. Hope to be wrong about that but don’t think I am. I highly doubt Roy has the juice to do anything or influence anything nor should he imo. Let’s not forget this is exactly what happened(if this is what’s actually happening and not BS) with Roy in Colorado.

Sports are a results business and Lou has had ample time to build a cup contender. Yet, here we are, still a bubble team blowing leads. Pretty accurate result being that we’re watching last years team again.

I don’t think Roy has any say regarding the GM but when you’re publicly outing your GMs roster decision that’s not gonna end well. At what point does the ownership admit the problem and make a change? I guess the answer is when fans stop buying tickets which is starting to happen.

I’m not sure what happened with Roy and the Avs. Maybe Roy was wrong. It’s also wrong for Lou to make his coaches take the heat for a lousy roster and Lou keeps the job and takes no blame.

Bill Torrey did not get to pick his exit and he won 4 Cups with the Islanders. Why should Lou get to decide with 0 Islander Cups. Lou picked Lane and it did not work out and now Patrick is not working out.

He’s 81….his days are numbered whether they win or lose. I don’t think he’s going to decide when. If the blown leads continue, I think he gets the ax before xmas

Maybe if Lou shows up to an interview in beachwear, there will be hope the owners do the right thing.

This team has a hard time saying goodbye to GM’s. You’d figure it would be a hot destination for them.

The way Roy responded to the question on the new additions was interesting.
"I think Lou thinks it's [the physicality] important for us," he said about Martin, and "I guess Lou thought it was a good moment for him" about Engvall #Isles

This right here and the fact that Roy and or Lou broke NHL protocol by not making the coach available to the media pre game makes me think this thing has some legs. Like I said earlier grab some popcorn. 😆

I don't see how Roy has any power here. I get where he's coming from and I don't blame him. It looks like there are two outcomes for him. Either he gets Lou to fire him and he gets paid, or L&M take notice and fire Lou. My money is on the former.

Still, I agree with Roy. If I'm the coach, I should be able to pick the players I want playing. If you don't trust me or you don't agree with my vision then let me go and hire a coach that agrees with you.

I agree with Roy. Let Lou coach Pierre and these other players if Lou thinks they are good enough. Lou has not shown he can be trusted to build a roster. The NJ days are a long way off.

I don’t think Roy has any power I’m just starting to believe these rumors. Pretty obvious he’s not happy about Martin being resigned and Engvall getting called up. Don’t blame him they are both boneheaded moves. Martin is toast and Engvall is (frank)ing terrible.
