Yeah there’s definitely something to this. You don’t mention Lou unless you’re trying to take blame away from yourself.

When I read that bold I just cracked up. It’s calling Lou a moron without directly saying it. With that said he’s kind of directly saying it. 😆

I don’t think Roy has any power I’m just starting to believe these rumors. Pretty obvious he’s not happy about Martin being resigned and Engvall getting called up. Don’t blame him they are both boneheaded moves. Martin is toast and Engvall is (frank)ing terrible.

Lou loves Martin. He signed Martin to a stupid contract when he was in Toronto. Then he traded for Martin and that stupid contract when he started with the Isles. He could have left Martin in Toronto and made them eat his cap hit while sitting in the press box, but no. Now he signed Martin again.

That said, I don't really care about the Martin signing. It's one year and not that much of a cap hit. Engvall's contract is a thousand times worse.

Lou wants all the power with none of the responsibility. Lou does not play well with others and he has always been tough on coaches. Lou is stuck in the past.

There’s no other way to take it. Saying “Lou thinks” is another form of “I don’t think”. It’s weird. Like how do Martin and Engvall not make the team out of camp but now they’re viable options? Make it make sense

Holmstrom didn’t make the roster full time for 3-4 years and now he’s 1LW?

I feel for any coach having to work for Lou. Lane may not be a good coach, but he was not the biggest issue.

I like Martin a lot also. I was completely against Lou bailing out the leafs and bringing him back. But the guy came back and played great for a few years. It was still time to move on. I dont care about the contract either but the guy needs to focus on icing a competitive team if he’s going to “go for it” for perpetuity not nonsensical moves that are based on relationships.

Engvall’s contract is something completely different. I can’t wrap my head around that one and what potential Lou saw in him signing that contract. He was 100% signed with the hope he would improve over time. I haven’t noticed a side of Engvall ever that made me think he was going to blossom into a player that Lou would like. He’s literally the antithesis of a Lou player.

definitely. lou had more respect at the beginning but I think he burned through all that by 2023

Lou was able to bring respectability back to this organization. He had some success early on. Unfortunately, a large chunk of his decisions since have left this team in a state of mediocrity. Leaving the fans feel as we have in prior years. Disappointed. He has done a good job at it this year because it is not even Thanksgiving yet.

Lou is not doing a good job this year if he is having trouble with another coach and forcing players on the coach.

I don't see how Roy has any power here. I get where he's coming from and I don't blame him. It looks like there are two outcomes for him. Either he gets Lou to fire him and he gets paid, or L&M take notice and fire Lou. My money is on the former.

Still, I agree with Roy. If I'm the coach, I should be able to pick the players I want playing. If you don't trust me or you don't agree with my vision then let me go and hire a coach that agrees with you.

There was talk at the time that it's the same thing that Snow was doing with Capuano.

I remember hearing this as well. We are seeing this a lot in Baseball. GMs should stay in their lane. You either trust the coach or you don't. Stop the micromanaging. It's the coaches' necks on the line.
