Of the hockey that I've actually seen, Maroon (while slow) has been one of the most effective players on the ice. Really good hands and smart plays.

Zero in on a couple Maroon shifts. His IQ is really high in all 3 zones. There is a reason he's been a part 3 cup teams..... His hands are really soft and quick along with very good size while understanding his role he's an effective NHL player.

In fact he'd do well with Bedard for some spells, 1st unit PP too. I think he's the best front net presence on the squad. His soft quick hands along with his IQ and size he built for net front work.

Smith has surprised me. His work rate is high as is his compete and is another vet with + IQ. He fits nicely with Maroon.

Edit: Smith is scoring at .57 per game with only 11:17 5 on 5 TOI and 1:39 of PP time. Honestly, in preseason I thought he'd be the first to move into the top 6 once the juggling started.

Dobber has some tid bits about the Avalanche. https://dobberhockey.com/...d-hischier-colton-oct-28/

Just as we all suspected, Ross Colton scored his eight goal in his ninth game, entering a three-way tie for second place in the NHL's goal-scoring race. He's supplemented strong offense with solid peripherals, posting 3.8 shots and 3.0 hits per game. The smart play would be to sell high on him soon as Artturi Lehkonen and Valeri Nichushkin return from absences, but honestly if you're not getting enough value back, I wouldn't mind riding this wave until it crashes. There's a world where Colton's strong play keeps him in a prominent role even as the team starts to get healthy.

Nikolai Kovalenko, enjoying a top-six role this season as a result of Colorado's numerous injuries, scored his first goal of the campaign on Sunday. He's been especially valuable in leagues that track hits, averaging two per game. Even with all the Avs' injuries, he's averaging less than 14 minutes a night and hasn't cracked PP1, so he isn't someone I'd endorse in fantasy formats.

Three primary assists for Casey Mittelstadt on Sunday gives him 12 points in nine games this year. He's been excellent thus far, skating nearly 20 minutes a night and enjoying roughly 85% of Colorado's time with the man advantage. However, I imagine his load will be lightened as players return from injury, so maybe start kicking tires to see what kind of value he'd return in a trade right now.

Claude Giroux scored two goals in the final few minutes of this one, giving him four goals in his last three games and nine points in his last six. He turns 37 in January but seems to be defying Father Time as he remains a high-end fantasy asset.

After three great starts in a row, Justus Annunen finally had a showing with subpar numbers – although he was minutes away from extending his run to four games were it not for Giroux. The door is slightly more open for Alexandar Georgiev now, who's in the perfect position to re-establish himself in Colorado's net as the team faces 30th-ranked Chicago on Monday. A good start should help Georgiev work his way back into the rotation.

This team is still a few years away from making the playoffs unless they make some good trades or free agent moves. Feel for Conner , may not want wait a few years.. Think they have gotten use to losing.

MacKinnon lost in the first round his rookie year and then missed the next three years. maybe hit the brakes a bit on the Bedard wants to leave talk...

Seth Jones is still wondering what happened. That being said Mackinnon is a stud, as well as Makar, that’s why I love watching the Avs play.

Yeah, but MacKinnon has done that to a lot of guys. Not excusing it, but he's pretty damn good.

Jones will be a good #3 or #4 dman on the Hawks in two years, but man, he’ll be a way overpaid middle pair dman. For those that want playoffs now, you’ll have to wait, but they’re going to have an outstanding set of dmen soon.

In two years, the cap will theoretically be about $8M higher. I really don't see Jones contract being an issue at any point.

I'm really hoping he does become that in a couple of years, excited to hear Rinzel is playing really well in Minnesota, Arty is back from injury fingers crossed these 2 end up eating a lot of minutes in the NHL in a couple years

There were at least three plays in the last 7 or 8 mins of that period where the Avs could've been whistled for interference yet the play on Murphy gets called.

So far from over, but the Hawks are really competing tonight. Vlasic has been really good. Offensively, they have to find a way to gut things out every night. Sad, if Foligno is the 2nd line center on this team. I still say why not look at Teravainen as the 2C. They are not very good, but wtf, does Anderson have Covid, seems crazy that he hasn’t played forever.

Later this season I expect both Nazar and Savoie are likely recalled

Which of them would you prefer to play on a line with Reichel? Who else is on the line? Foligno/Maroon/Smith?

You want to know
Ivan Ivan (full mame) rookie on Avalanche
Marcel Marcel has started this season playing for Rockford Icehogs
Might they play against each other some day?
Well too many years have passed and this player is undoubtedly no longer a prospect: Wacey Rabbit

Other notable names immediately come to mind from baseball: Bill Hands and Rollie Fingers
