I've left instructions for my wife to use my logins and announce my death in the various forums I frequent, so I won't vanish one day with no explanation. Not that I'm important or even liked much, but it's a weird existential thing I am doing. - GalacticStone
It is a weird part of modern life. I often wonder what happened to Internet people who disappeared. And sadly know a few who passed away. |

Another far more gritty d man and a couple of decent picks. Pretty damn good for a $3 mill bottom pairing guy.

Except Benning blows complete chunks …
There were comments that Van Ryan ruined Lilly’s game by trying to turn him into something he wasn’t as a D man…
Lilly was making progress and had proper defensive positioning and good wall work & Van Ryan tried to turn him into Dave Manson with the Marlies -

I've lost several online friends over the years.
Yeah, it's weird to miss people you never really knew in real life, but that's the internet age I guess.
Just think, one day Eklund will drop dead and this site will go tits up 404 Not Found when the hosting bill isn't paid. |

There’s more than one style of hockey game.
Liljegren no longer fit in Toronto.
As for Benning, I’m not expecting much, but he’s a NHLer lol |

Yup, does Liljegren have talent? Sure… does it fit the leafs current style of game? No.
He’s not physical enough, my main guess. |

In the obvious category - I would have preferred a 2nd over a 3rd and 6th, but in theory you can use those to trade into the 2nd round on draft day if you want.
Benning is better than Myers and probably also Benoit. I think Myers is still the odd man out on D. Activate Hakanpaa and go on with 8D, 2G, and 13F - meaning one forward has to be demoted. Since Dewar is a checking guy, who does he replace? Holmberg or Reaves? Or is this the end of the line for Robertson after he failed to impress in the regular season?
I feel it's going to be Holmberg - and I'm going to say that if he gets claimed, I don't think we'll miss him much at all - but it should be Reaves. - Monkeypunk
Maybe package Holmberg AND Robertson for a 3C? Or do you run Kampf and Dewar as 3/4C and bring in a 3rd line nasty physical type?

I'm not going to stomp my feet about it because I don't feel too strongly - but I doubt that him not playing regularly for the team destroyed his value. I would argue that him having failed to endure physical punishment in the playoffs for three straight years, then having a crap showing in camp after signing a contract that overvalued him and then having an even crappier showing in his season debut devalued him more.
Liljegren is a puck mover who needs a physical player with him so he can flourish - against weaker competition. He's never consistently fared well as a top-4 - but has always fared excellently as a bottom-2 guy. Once you're paying your 5/6 guy $3m, I think you're putting yourself in a bad situation when you're already tight to the cap.

The main return was the $1.75M in cap space. Teams knew we had to trade him. Oh well. |

Benning puts up good defensive results in a 3rd pairing role.
He is also paid accordingly.
So yeah no, he does not blow complete chunks. |

With Robertson I get it if Berube ends up not wanting to play him in the top 9, and he can not play on the 4th...but they have to either trade him or play him and let him keep his value or raise it.
I like how he has looked. You give him some rope and the pucks are going to go in. |
