Foerster scored in game 1 against Vancouver and scored in game 9 against Boston. What has Foerster done in between? You guys say you want accountability but this posts says otherwise.
Thanks for making this argument easy for me though.

Foerster is tied for 6th in the league in penalty minutes. He was second or third at the time of his scratch. Tippett has more overall points. What’s so hard to understand?

Define accountability. Does he have to write a 1000 word essay or something about how he hasn't scored? Benching him certainly doesn't help him score, unless he is allowed to throw pucks in from the press box.
But by all means instead of letting him work through it as a young player, you bench him for a guy who is virtually guaranteed not to score.

The argument for sitting the younger guys because they are not making corrections and making the same mistakes is fine if everyone was held to the same standard.
We know that’s not true. Hathaway has had some brutal games and ND just sucks. ND doesn’t stop anyone from the other team from from doing anything.
Poehling hasn’t been some bastion of hockey virtue either yet Torts wouldn’t even think to sit him.

Easy enough for ya? - MBFlyerfan
What’s funny is, you actually believe you made a good point here. This isn’t some Frost 6 game in a row scratch. You legitimately have an argument if this were the case. It’s October and this is a bad team. If you’re this mad now just wait.

Yep, it's a bad team, so play the kids and let them work through their issues. You don't scratch Brink for 3 games and you don't scratch your 20 goal 2nd year player at all. Especially for a journeyman borderline 4th liner who is going to play 4 minutes.
It is not rocket science.
So define accountability. You have no idea what it means, especially in this context.
Its kind of sad to think Brink needs to keep generating offense at a consistenf rate or will be replaced by Deslauriers, ASAP. 23 yr old fwd roughly .5 PPG not a lot of PP time, yet off to the pressbox you go when there is a hint of a rough patch. - Trox88
It isnt about offense. Regardless of anyones opinion of Torts, He is the coach. A player needs play the way his coach wants. That is a skill, playing like your coach wants. All players have to deal with coaches that want them to play their way. Defensive games are hard to judge by watch on TV because you dont see much away from the puck.
Without being there I dont know what Torts expects from Brink but I dont believe it has to do with offence. A typical 3rd line player is not going to score at a higher rate than .5 PPG, to me that a high end 3rd line player and one thats likely a vet by now

Honestly it seems that many things are hard for you to understand. Like how my comment was dripping in sarcasm directed to the people who have screeched how OT can score 40 goals easily when he has not even touched 30

I dont agree, there has to be some incentive to fix your mistakes. If you keep letting mistakes slide, players dont work to fix them. A player is more likely to look to fix the mistakes they are making if they are going to lose Ice time or get scratched. No one is saying bench a guy because he made 1 mistake but if you got a guy who you keeps repeatedly making the same mistakes and has been told many times, you have to sit them to give them a kick in the butt they need.
That being said I dont see any value in pulling what Torts did with Frost last season with Frost. When it comes to Frost though people kept saying if Torts leaves him alone hed be better, well, Torts is leaving him alone and he is still struggling. He is playing no different than last year to start the season

How does Tortorella want players to play? Responsible away from the puck? Why does a player like Tippett, who is pretty horrendous in his play away from the puck. Never face accountability?
Here is what you don't get and what others have been saying. Many times there is no rhyme or reason for Tortorella's decision making and it flies in the face of the facts. His decisions do not have any consistency even drastically moreso than other NHL coaches.
By the way, you should brush up on standards of statistical analysis. Points/60 is the metric that you want to use. Not PPG
You’re right! But what has he done in nine games? What is Bobby Brink doing? In nine games what have these guys done?
When guys on here are asking what if Michkov is next, The difference is Michkov is backing up his play - roenick97
You cant compare them to Michkov. There is a significant talent discrepency between them. Michkov was considered to be on par talent wise with Bedard. There was likely a talk with Torts saying he cant do some of the stuff he does with other kids. They cant afford to lose this kid.
TF and Brink are young kid thats are going to struggle and have growing pains. Jack Hughes is a more skilled player than both players and he didnt just come to the NHL at a top level we see today. He had 20 and 30 point seasons his 1st two years. Then he made the jump to 50-60 points the 3rd year.
It is going to take time to see what we want from these kids. As long as they are directly responsible for loses, they should be in the lineup. Zamula was someone directly responsible for loses which is why he has been sat.

An argument can be made that Michkov has been directly responsible for losses. He shouldn't sit.

We dont know. Only the people in the room know. Torts doesnt just pull names out of a hat and say you are out. There is logic to his decisions whether you agree with it or not. He is a well respected coach and many players state they loved playing for him. He isnt just benching guys because he doesnt like them. If that was the case Frost wouldnt be playing. Every player has a role. Not everyones role is the same so the standards for each player is different because the expectation for each player is different. The expectation for someone like Poehling is lower because he has limited skill. If Frost is playing at the same level as Poehling, that is not acceptable because Frost should be much better. Your #2 C should have a higher standard than your 4th.
