seems like a better strategy now is to list them initially at a reasonable number..so they sell for something - senstroll
My daughter informed me this morning that she no longer wanted to go tonight.
Thanks for the short warning, honey!
I priced mine at basically exactly what I paid for them, and they sold on my commute in to work.
For me, trying to earn an extra $50 just isn't worth the anxiety. |

One other fun fact:
Tickets used to be controlled by scalpers, and they worked together. And they didn't allow anyone to get out of line.
So nobody - and I mean nobody - would cut their prices just before the game, or even after the game had started. You risked getting shivved by the other scalpers.
There haven't been paper tickets for a few years now - it's all electronic. Scalpers have been replaced by Ticketmaster and other sites. The scalpers are gone.
So season ticket holders control the price they sell at. They'll put their tix up for sale on Ticketmaster days before, at stupidly high prices, thinking that it's just like the good old days, and they can get 2X value on a weeknight, and 3-4X value on a weekend.
And their tickets sit. And sit and sit and sit.
By 3 pm, panic starts to creep in, and they lower.
By 5 pm, they are willing to take pennies on the dollar.
Trust me. - Atomic Wedgie
And going by how packed it is leading up to the puck drop, plus how brutal we usually are in the first 5 minutes of the period, Father Time is on your side... mosey on up to concession, grab your beer, miss the 0-1 goal? PROFIT!

Tonight is the perfect storm.
Facts:
- the secondary market for Leafs tix has dropped through the floor, post-COVID (note: this effect is much larger for weekday games than Saturday nights). My theory is that there are 50% or less people working downtown on any given day, so the demand just isn't there anymore.
- the Hallowe'en game is always, always, always not full. Too many people have duties around Hallowe'en - having to take kids out, having to hand out candy, or both.
If you don't have any Hallowe'en duties, tonight is the night to nab tickets at 6 pm.
Go to the Keg on York, enjoy their happy hour, and wait like a panther in a tree.
Then strike!
P.S. Some may not agree with me here, but I'd rather be the very front of the upper bowl than the top of the lower bowl. - Atomic Wedgie
You're selling me on this, especially the part about waiting at the Keg like a panther in a tree. Very appealing image.

Sometimes I grab a ticket last minute and hit the game and I try to get upper bowl in the Leafs end, I think its 306 or something like that. I always like those ones. I've had lower bowl seats, but never super good seats like on the glass or anthing. |

I agree with you 100000% on this for any and every concert, sporting event etc. and I ALWAYS look to get 1st row 2nd deck whenever I can. When I lived in Kingston I used to go to see the Leafs in Ottawa almost every time they played (and back then they played each team in the division like 4 or 6 times I believe) and could always get 1st row, 2nd deck in the corners for a really good price.
The Sens rink has great views, the location of that place is absolute garbage though. Them moving to downtown is so badly needed and has been since day 1 really.
It's nights like tonight I wish I lived in Toronto, I'd so follow your guidance and be going to the game for super cheap. Only difference for me is the pre-game meal location - I'd want to be closer to the rink. I know a couple hidden gems downtown that aren't 'Keg' fancy but have great eats for great $.
Hell the Union Chicken place in Union Station has an amazing Chicken Sandwich and if you have a few people they have some kind of a huge platter of a bunch of their chicken items that I have seen them cart out that looks unreal.
Surprisingly enough that Italian place in Union Station was good the one time I ate there too with my wife. They make the pasta inhouse (or they did at that point at least). I remember it was good but a tad pricey.
Anyhow, Go MF Leafs Go!
Happy Halloween!
Edit - found the menu with the platters from Union Chicken (seems a bit pricey I guess but they do give you a poop tonne of fries and coleslaw etc. and I hate Brussel Sprouts but the ones there are unreal):

Glass seats are fun to sit in...once.
Amazing to see the speed of the shots, the viciousness of the hits.
Fun to see the equipment that close.
But it's a terrible place to actually watch the hockey game - a lot of your view is obstructed. |

I can't bring myself to buy "fancy" rotisserie chickens, not when a good dry rub, half a lemon and herbs up it's ass, and sit it on a can of beer in the BBQ at 425 slays anything I've ever had and you can buy those mofos for like 8-10 bucks any day of the week. |

OK, let's do this:
If you could sit anywhere in the rink, where would you sit?
For me, it's 15 rows right behind the visiting goalie.
This is probably because growing up, my dad used to get us 1-2 pairs of blues at Maple Leaf Gardens.
I love watching the game come at you.
I love seeing the defencemen's passing lanes as they leave the zone.
And watching the power play from that perspective is awesome. |

Yeah, I recognized that look. My gf's mini Schnauzer is a very spirited dog, and the crestfallen posture she adopts when we foist a costume on her usually causes our pity and guilt to overcome the hilarity of the costume and we take mercy on her after a photo.

I sat on the glass right behind the Marlies bench once.
For 10 minutes.
It sucked so hard, trying to look through glass, around coaches and players etc.
Only seats on the glass I have loved were some season tickets my brother had access to for the Barrie Colts in the OHL.
Set of 3 seats, right behind the net and right beside where the goal judge used to sit but they have removed that seat. It was literally a row of 3 seats, right on the stair isle on one side and the old goal judge spot on the other.
Best part - it's in the small section connected to the restaurant and they have wait staff come to your seat and serve you. Man those were some awesome seats.

It does seem like not the best vantage point to watch the actual whole game.
The best seats I had to a sporting event was courtside at the Raptors. Was like watching actual giants play basketball, which I guess is what it actually is.

Beer butt chicken is the way.
However, I get equally good results simply using the roasting stand and not adding a can of beer, comes out just as juicy. The secret is in the vertical roasting, not the beer.
I like to grind up some montreal steak spice in the mortar and pestle and dry rub it, plug the neck hole with a flap of skin, a couple of hours at 300. Melts in your mouth.
edit: baste for crispy skin, obv |
