Yup, they dominated for most of the game.

Doesn’t make it any less of a pointless trade. We weren’t one Bo Horvat away from being competitive. In all reality we lost that trade because it never should’ve been made in the first place.

No, Barzal is a couple of years younger so he would have a better chance of being part of a competitive team outside of a retool. This team had no business giving up a first and Raty for anyone at that time imo. We should have been rebuilding after the last covid season. Holding onto assets while unloading some vets for more picks. Lou doesn’t value draft picks. I didn’t say that he did.
We could have been competitive now or next season. Now we are an at best bubble team for the foreseeable future. I just don’t see the point but hey if people like seeing more of what they saw last season and in the playoffs maybe I’m wrong. The attendance doesn’t reflect that though.

That Horvat trade was a no brainer. Solid 1st line C who can play with Barzal. The whole timing thing is internet GM hyperbole!

I do not have an issue with the Horvat trade. I know I am in the minority. My original statement was that to date the Isles won that trade. AB, has traveled to several teams. Atu has not become a staple in their lineup. He was our prized prospect at the time. And to be honesty I do not know who the Canucks tool with the 1st rounder sent.

My other statement was that it is interesting to see what happens with Barzal and Duclair when they come back. Given the chemistry that Lee and JGP have had with Horvat and how resurgent both their play has become.

You do not want to break up Syp, Nelly, Palms as they are doing well.

How do you move Duke and Barzy to the third line pairing. and then Who becomes their Center or wing.

I am strictly going by chemistry and production alone. I guess with this team it is good thing to finally have. Just more options to throw out there.

It will be very interesting to see if Horvat, Lee, JGP can continue to the solid play. I cannot see moving Barzal and Duclair to the 3rd line. It is good to have options.

From an instant perspective yes the islanders won the trade. Raty has been underwhelming but who knows what he grows into along with that pick so it’s subject to change. Takes years to really say who truly won. My point was do we really win bcs what exactly does Horvat help the team accomplish? But yeah for right now yes the islanders win the trade.

First bold: If memory serves, no one. I believe they traded that first rounder to Detroit who used it to take a d-man in the Swedish Elite League. I think he's still playing there.

Second bold: Easy. Don't call it the third line, call it the first line. Don't get hung up on 20th century hockey nomenclature. Barzy centers Duclair and maybe someone defensively responsible like Holmstrom.

We I’m with you obviously on the Horvat trade.
Gotta think he will be the next captain of the team. The “timing” BS about the trade is exactly that, BS. Because some complained about that trade the day it was done and need something to hang there hat on for female doging about it.
When Barzal and Duke come back looking where and who to play them with because the team is playing well without them is a good problem to have.

He indicated that league revenue has “outpaced the guardrails on the salary cap” that were put in place as part of the 2020 Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The cap can rise by a maximum of five percent as per the collective bargaining agreement (CBA). However, it can increase by a wider margin if the league and the PA agree. If they stick with five percent, the cap will rise to $92.5 million for 2025-26. It is currently at $88 million.

This could help the Isles in a big way. Question and forgive me for ignorance. Does the Cap floor rise with the Cap ceiling? Because the Isles might be able unload a Contract or two if it does.

I'm glad they found the condition and I hope it's not serious and something that can be treated. That being said, it's always something with this team.
