Wow I did not expect this today, very heartbreaking news. The only reason I even have HockeyBuzz bookmarked is 100% to read Bill's blogs.
Bill, Best of luck and look forward to following your writings where ever you land in the future.
I can't believe I have been using this website for 18, 19, almost 20 years now. So best of luck to everyone else, even to the official troublemaker, and may real life be filled with happiness and joy.
HockeyBuzz is officially dead. |

Oof. This is a tough pill to swallow.
But I trust Bill’s got his vector set toward success, and therefore good on him.
Best of luck, Bill. cin-cin! |

I guess he needs to skate in a few games before he can continue collecting for his final years.
He doesn't want to get RyJo'ed.

put your skills to use and go coach a youth team. parents will love you. - hello it's me 2050 That's a laugh! The youth hockey players would be teaching him. To be a coach you actually have to go on the ice and skate with the players. The youth hockey players would be skating circles around him as he tried to figure out how to use his double runners! |

Meltzer was one of the few professional contributors to this site. There are already a significant number of teams without a blog. This site needs to either dramatically revamp management or die off at this point. Not sure where else to go though as SB Nation blogs have mostly been destroyed. Cap friendly is obviously dead. I HATE Reddit so refuse to go there. Really pathetic how no NHL forums can stay open. |

No Meltzer.
No MiB.
I'm assuming the site was already on life support due to the redonkulous amount of popup ads, but this is really going to take a chunk out of revenues. |

I'm not sure who is hurting more, the site or MJL. He's going to end up arguing with himself.
If Ek was smart he would hire him to read off sponsor ads in the middle of his "debates".

If he is ready for it, why not? Michkov is 19 years old and playing in the NHL, why can't Luchanko if he is ready? - jd250
That’s a decision for next September. |

I hope HB as a site doesn't go anywhere. Has some old fashioned internet vibes. A message board that the woke corpos haven't completely neutered. |

Bill leaving is a huge loss but we stopped getting the best that Bill has to offer a while ago when he changed the blog structure to a recap. Rather then opining with his expertise on the game. A blog with just a lineup can be posted on game day and the thread will survive. Luckily for Flyers fans. We have other sources to access Bill's writing.

And I think the players should have different roles. Poehling should be a bottom 6 center, 4th line preferred, and thus he should win more faceoffs and have less scoring chances for and against. With Frost, I understand he may give up more scoring chances against, but we need him to drive possession and scoring chances much more. I believe if Frost was playing better, Tippet and Foerster would also start scoring more. The question is, can Frost play better. He certainly has shown he can in spurts, but not consistently. Also, not all faceoffs are created equally, within game and game to game. Frost's faceoff percentage my be above 50%, but in the faceoffs that matter he has been underwhelming. In the end, the Flyers need better. If the Flyers were able to somehow develop or obtain a true 1C , that would push Couts down and improve things immensly. Then if Luchanko comes in next year as 2C, the Flyers would be right where they need to be. One thing I like about Columbus is they have tried to build a team the right way, focusing on center and defense. I think they are on the upswing. - jd250
what's concerning is how many scoring chances he has been on the ice for with the amount of offensive zone starts he gets.

Very true, and I’ll continue reading his work.
This makes sense. The man’s been burning the midnight oil every night.
They say stress can influence 70% of illnesses and conditions. That’s why it’s a killer.
No need for that man to do burn out when he can accomplish all he needs to more efficiently in other manners.
His presence here will be missed all the same. |

I'd be fine with that. As long as he is here on a 1-year deal. Hope he plays well enough for someone to want him at the TDL.
