I'm trying very hard to stay out of political discussion today. See if I can do it. I'm not confident. The campaigning is over. Nobody is going to convince anyone of anything on Nov 5th. Exercise your right and opportunity to have a say and go vote. - MJL
You are doing better job than I am. I am already sorry I responded. |

Bill, thank you for your blogs and good luck on your next endeavors. Your anecdote about your daughter's birth stuck with me because I am pretty sure I read your blogs on the Delauriers signing and Deangelo trade in the hospital after my son was born!
That's how much your blogs have been a part of my daily routine over the last decade plus. I will continue to follow your work elsewhere. Congratulations! |

Was he there to vote? - MJL
No, just handing out sample ballots. Didn't seem to be attracting much attention when I was there. |

I disagree with Provorov. He went from a dman that would crash the net and press in the offensive zone to being more conservative. He said it himself. Granted i dont think he was ever going to quarterback the power play but his play fell off the cliff as his time with the flyers wore on.
JVR became a better player after leaving the flyers says it all. He was traded for Luke Schenn who was really not a very good dman.
Nolan Patrick didnt do much before his injuries got the better of his career. I didn't see him doing much even if he wasn't dealing with injuries.
As far as Hart that is an excuse. Before the legal issues came to light he was a good goalie and nothing more. His junior career was very good.
The jury is out on Farabee. Torterella might just be an anchor on Farabee's neck.
Sanheim is off to a very good year.
How many players do the flyers draft where they exceed expectations and become a very good player.
They can't even develop fourth line players they draft despite loving to draft 200' players. - bird_dog_pa
Provorov had 1 really good year. His play often depended on the team. When he foirst started with PHI they were a playoff team. As they became a non playoff team his play struggled. They lost significant talent over the course of his career.
JVR became a better player after he got traded because he was 22 years old when he was traded. Flyers had him for his entry level deal and thats it. They signed him to a new deal and traded hime before it kicked in. JVR became better with the Leafs because the Flyers moved him before he developed.
Players take time to develop. Nolan Patrick did nothing because he didnt have the opportunity to develop. At 20 years old he got that career ending concussion and was never the same. Look at Couturier. He didnt have his best season until 25/26 years old, same for Brayden Schenn. Both Nolan Patrick and JVR never hit those ages with the Flyers hence why they never developed here. JVR didnt have his best season until 27 years old.
The only players hitting high point production early in their career are your elite\superstar players like Jack Hughes. Not saying Patrick was going to be Jack Hughes but in his 1st two seasons Patrick had 30 and 31 points. Hughes had 21 and 31 in his 1st two season and then 56 in year 3. There is a good chance had Patrick been healthy he would have seen him hit the 40 point mark for sure in his 3rd year as a pro. He might have been a great prospect for us if it wasnt for the concussion |

I'm not sure but I think it is illegal for a candidate to be doing that. Campaigning at a polling place

Couturier didn't have his best season at 25/26 because he was older. He was finally given a chance and used correctly. At least the teams he was on had a legitimate reason for using him as they did.

I may be wrong about what he was handing out. I didn't vote for him, but I didn't see him doing anything objectionable. He didn't seem to be there to vote. He was standing on one side of the path (with all the other republicans handing out stuff) to the door to the polling place. I thought he had a little stack of pamphlets he was handing out. Looked like the same little sample ballot that the dems left at my door. I didn't pause or say anything to him. I was just joking about saying "go back to Connecticut" to him. I'm too respectful of the process to do that. I was surprised to see how small he was and that he wasn't attracting much attention. My area is pretty blue, so maybe there weren't many supporters there at that moment. Didn't see him on the way out. |

Regardless of outcome, I hope that it's a peaceful and boring election for you guys down in the US, but I kind of doubt it. I have family in Virginia and they're a bit worried about more Jan 6 type of scenarios after the election. |

I pick based on polices and his track record as president. To me it really is that simple.
Don't care what he tweets, what he says, or anything in between. The country and world were in a better place during his 4 years.. Do you disagree? - login
I def do. It was a circus, you had a damn riot on the capitol building where two people died. The system is broken. Your choices are basically between who is not the worst person for the job, not who is best.
What Trunmp says and tweets is very much an issue as many in the U.S have proven to be sheep that follow him blindly hence the a formentioned Riot. Some people drank bleach because Trump broguht that up over COVID. Guy goes on random rants about people eating Dogs and Cats. The guy is senile. He is Joe Biden but 3 years younger.

Guess the Antifa and Black Losers Dont Matter peaceful interactions didn't happen. Way worse than a bunch of unarmed dopes in costumes at the Capitol building.
A far as someone drinking bleach because of Trump, well they are dope and deserve what they got by drinking it.

Giving up on a player too early isn't a development mistake?
No it is not. Development has nothing to do with trading. Young players are moved to fill immediate holes. JVR wasnt traded because the Flyers didnt think he would be good. They traded him because they were dumb and though Luke Schenn was Pronger 2.0mand they needed a Future #1 D to replace Pronger. It had nothing to do with JVR himself or his development.
Had he stayed in PHI he would have developed no different than he did in Toronto. JVR was doing fine in PHI. You cant make a mistake doing something if you dont do it. You can make poor decisions with young players but it isnt a development issue. Bad management doesnt make a bad employee. A good employee typically thrives despite poor management. |

None of those are related to the predidency. Trump literally incited the riot and told people he would be there with them and ignored every opportunity to stop it as it happened.
