Did we really expect the team to be better by leaps and bounds?
Dach back after missing 80 games, Laine injured. Its going to be one of those years.
Its not the coach's fault, we are asking him to build a house without a hammer.
The D is still young and learning. We have had to ush kids into the lineup because we have no other choice, now we have to live with the growing pains.
Where is Symba with his draft reports? Tell us about the top5 prospects and can anyone start right away in NHL?
Can anyone provide insigt as to can Hage jump in next yeat or deos he look like he will need time in the AHL?

I expected this year to be somewhat painful, but still see some advances / positives.

I also had expectations that next year, with clearing out more contracts, we might see a real upswing in this team... but I am not so sure anymore. There will be a lot of younger forwards and unless team defense/goaltending gets significantly better, next year might be a long season too.

- Mashadar

imo they were 2 years ahead of reality with this being in th mix plan.
agreed, this year will be tough, and next year will be tough too. if nothing changes that is.

I wasn't expecting them to be leaps and bounds better. But I expected them to be a little better (and keep improving). So far none of those are happening (still hopeful about the improving part).

If we can add a missing piece or 2 every year then its all good. While also clearing out the remnants of the past
Hutson this year, Demidov next year and whomever else graduates from Laval.

I'm just afraid of young players developing in an environment where the team gets destroyed too many times. It's not good for morale.

I did not expect Dach to be in the bright spots. But I understand he needs some time after missing a full season.

I like Gallagher and Evans but if those 2 have been among your best players since the start of the season, you might be in trouble.

A losing culture is bad, agreed. If they move Savard at the deadline I get it, but they better get some help on the blue line to start next season cause this is hard to watch most of the night. Too bad Reinbacher is losing a full year by the way, this may slow down the rebuild as well cause he is supposed to be a key part of it. Ghule will need to stay healthy as well for this team to get somewhere at some point.

As for Evans, I think they need to bring him back for a few seasons. In the right chair he is a good player to have.

Think I just have PTSD from all the prospects that they failed to develop (or were just not as good as advertised).

How many years did the Oilers go through that, pick after pick after pick.

Yeah, some really bad management decisions in that period, but look at how long it took them to break out.

I have faith in HuGo, but we really need to see improvement / positive growth.

I mean, any other 1st overall except McDavid and they're not where they are right now so I wouldn't take them as an example to follow.

Yeah, I expect when they call him up, it is because they believe he will stick and contribute.

So spending more time in Laval is not a bad thing.

Same here. And I have no doubt he will be an NHL'er as well. Just needs to focus on giving a consistent effort.
- The Judge

The reason we got him so low at the draft was because he was a star coming out of midget AAA, did not take training seriously and was out of shape big time his first junior years. The draft summer he trained for real for the first time of his life and dominated the next seasons. So yeah I think he has that lazy gene in him and we probably saw it at camp were he probably thought his place was already secured.

And how many losing seasons did EDM have while rebuilding? Not sure if they did it or not but there was talkof changing the draft to prevent EDM from picking first so many years in a row, but look at them now. Ask an EDM fan if it was worth it seein gheir team where it is now

To be fair, most of the players that were there when they were really bad aren't there anymore. And the team started to be good 1-2 years after drafting McDavid, so I don't think their current roster has been affected by this problem.

They pretty much had to turn over the roster of the players they had previously drafted in the first part of the rebuild, then they got McDavid and Draisaitl.

Just do not want to see that happen here... where players age out or no longer fit in because it is taking too long.

With Demidov and Hage coming I have democrat confidence we will win.

And if we don’t it’s because the NHL is racist.

No one wants that, we've already been through enough failed rebuilds (and "x" year plans) at this point. I just want this team to contend again in the near(ish) future.
