in theory yes it would be cool, but unfortunately, even if he does have a certain set of skills and is able to keep up with the game I don't think Arber has a sufficiently high hockey IQ for that kind of transition at the NHL level... he's probably worth more as a dman, so if the habs are gonna do that they might as well trade him, instead of confusing him with a completely different role.

I think the Def needs another 2 years to be ready and since F are faster to hit their stride it will be perfect timing when the D is finally ready we should have some decent F in place. No need to rush adding F when the Def needs time.

yeah that (frank)ing sucks for his development, hopefully it won't be a major setback for him and he'll be able to progress from where he had left off prior to getting hurt. stupid (frank)ing injuries man...

really..? he isn't a top 4 dman but I'm convinced he'll be a decent bottom pairing guy, I find it's wayyy too early to just give up on him now lol.

he isn't making too many bonehead decisions when he's on the ice, the only reason it "costs" the team as you're saying is because they're left with one less defenseman if he gets ejected from a game after a fight. I find he brings a much-needed physical presence to the roster, and they're gonna have to find another player to fill that role anyway if they do part ways with him.

unless you're giving bad medical advice and/or you're letting players come back from an injury too early, there isn't much you can do about that lol... the habs have simply been extremely unlucky in that department during the past few seasons.

Well they fired a few of their medical staff, so it was not just bad luck. They did let players get back too soon and still dealing with injuries. If they can at least work on that part, it will be a start. After that, some players are more injury prone than others (Laine is one of them, I dont care about the fact another player could have been hurt on that play, he still keeps missing games season after season).

well it kinda dismisses the idea that he was hurt on that play because he's more injury-prone than other players, so it's silly to not consider that imho.

perhaps there were a few issues with the old medical staff but they surely weren't to blame for a vast majority of the injuries the team had, the proof of that being that the year right after things were basically just as bad in terms of man games lost to injury, even with the new medical personnel.

As for Necas, he stayed with his team after all so its not like another team got him in a trade instead of the Habs. And like the small Pat said, the price to get him would have been much higher than Laine who had 0 value on the trade market.
