i don't know how to play. but i do love guitars and someday when i'm old and can sit still i'll probably teach myself some stuff.

for now, they sit in their stands and just look cool.

I'll give you a few lessons while i'm down there and have a bunch of lessons (in tablature) that i can give you as well. They'll help you with open chords, finger exercises, timing and tempo etc etc.

is bass easier to learn than guitar? i kind of find myself checking out the bass when i listen lately. like a groovy bassline or some bass behind the music that i never noticed before. i kind of love tim commerford's funky bass sound. also, i listen to a lot of acdc and they did some cool bass stuff too.

It can be. A comfortable instrument is key. Bass obviously has larger strings that can be difficult for some. But it's all about practice and passion for the instrument, music and it's a beautiful way to zone out and relax.

When I would practice for 12 hours a day.....I would actually get into a meditative state and would be SO focused I wouldn't hear anything else around me.

i feel like i'd like to understand both someday but i might end up playing the bass.

i notice that even though i have no idea what i'm doing, when i pick up the guitar i use a pick but when i pick up the bass i just use my fingers. i don't know if that's just what my brain is used to seeing on tv or what but i never grab the pick when i'm screwing around with the bass guitar.

i also had two other guitars before because they were signed by musicians. i had a sunburst epiphone les paul and a real cheap fender squire bullet. the les paul was signed by all the guys in soundgarden and the bullet was signed by chris cornell and eddie vedder.
