Powers had a nice piece on Moore. This is from the coach at Minnesota

“The points aren’t coming, and sometimes that gets in your head, but he is becoming so responsible in the defensive end,” Motzko said. “He’s a force on the forecheck, you know, how he attacks the puck. He just needs to get rewarded. Sometimes you see sophomores go through this. You do. But the good thing, all the great ones go through it, but they come through it. It has a start, a middle and an end.

“But we have no problem with how he’s playing. We’re off to a great start and his footprint is all over a lot of things we’re doing. The success we’re having, he’s a big part of it. That’s the great thing for us. His point production is going to pick up. In very, very due time, it’s going to pick up.”[/I]

Also from Moore:

"For me in college right now, I think Chicago should just know there’s still a focus on me and I’m coming.”

So Mrazek and Brossoit are both out, do they bring up Commesso or do they pick up a tender on waivers so Commesso can continue to develop in Rockford. If Martinez goes on IR, do they bring up KK or Phillips?
- Angotti

I'd bring up Korch the cowboy.
Pair him with Murphy or Allan and let him fly around the ice. Let's see what he can do.
As for goaler...have no idea. I never expected both Mrazek and Brossoit to both be out at the same time

Hogs lose their 2nd in a row with their new coach. Doesn't sound promising.
Anyone get a chance to watch either of the last 2 Hogs games and get a look at Levshunov or Korch?

Taking injury prone players like Zegras, Norris and Pinto is stupid.

I haven’t read anyone criticizing Marner except that he’s very soft in the playoffs.

Rinzel had a solid freshman season if I recall correctly, maybe started a bit slow but then turned it on toward the end of the season. I hope he signs with the piggies after his college season is complete, not sure how much playing a 3rd NCAA season would be better for him than playing in the AHL.

Vanacker and Boisvert bring some balance to the roster, skill+sand paper. Let's be real, you can't win a Cup without 3-4 of those types on a roster.
Slaggert seems like he might even end up being a solid 3rd liner.

Rinzel, since the World Jrs almost a year ago, has looked like a completely different player.

When he showed up for camp, his didn't look like a skinny tall, good skater, he looked he had put on 20lbs of muscle along with his improved play.

This year at MN he has been close to dominant for a college player, i haven't looked it up, but i'm betting his stats anyway are on par with Arty's last year.

Doesn't mean he'll be a star, just means since they drafted him, he has continuously improve in multiple ways.

With all these top draft picks, that's all you can ask right now, and this should be the judgement point KD and MD drafting accumen.

Rinzel with a goal and a helper last night in Minnesota's 2-0 win. He has 8G and 11A in 18 games this season.

Last year, Lev had 9G and 26A in 38 games for MSU.

Zegras is a center who seems to have stalled point production wise but has a very high ceiling while Marner has been an elite point producer on the wing from year one, gotten Selke votes the past 6 years and put up 50 points in 57 playoff games. No question about his talent, play off the puck or whatever.

The people that knock him in the playoffs have the same silly reasons that people knocked Patrick Kane as a playoff performer and wanted to do goofy things like trade him for Rick Nash or Ryan Miller.

Ah, the days of yore...

Made for a great blog or two from JJ. Coincided with roughly the time he turned heel.

Rockford called up a no name goalie and defenseman from Indianapolis of the ECHL this morning. Looks like the Hawks will recall a goalie and D from the Hogs later today before they fly out to the East coast for their 3 game road trip this week. l

His pace this year is slightly better than a PPG. Levshunov was just under a ppg but that was as a true freshman.

Little bit different circumstances. Like Levshunov coming here with just a duffel bag - having an income was probably a bit more of a priority.

Anyway - Rinzel is about on pace with Buium, not quite on pace with someone like Luke Hughes but pretty close to Quinn.

Point totals aren't everything but defenders that seem to put them up as freshmen and sophomores like he is are typically productive NHL players straight away.

He's probably a player to get excited about. Which is why when you look at that right side and you see Jones, Murphy over there - really quickly it's going to be Levshunov and Rinzel. They already have Vlasic, Kaiser and Allen on the other side sooooo something probably has to give there and relatively quickly.

I'd assume Brodie is Murphy insurance but it's gonna get pretty crowded pretty quickly across that whole blue line.

I vote for a waiver guy Commesso is barely an AHL goalie right now.

I bet they bring up Weekes. Let Commesso play regularly with Rockford instead of sitting on the bench here.

Could be, either way it’s just a backup goalie, I’m curious as to which defenseman they bring up.
Edit - and there it is, KK.

Blackhawks recall goalie Drew Commesso and defenseman Kevin Korchinski (!). Petr Mrázek to injured reserve with a groin injury, something that has plagued him throughout his career.

Yikes!
Commesso too?hopefully Soda can hold down the fort. He isn't going back down to RockCity this season. At least he gets a real chance to show he can be a capable NHL goalie or backup.

1-3-1-2-1

If I'm hearing this correctly it sounds like we are being more aggressive, playing a 2-1-2? If so that alone will make for more exciting hockey

For now though it's not a bad thing to have the best odds at the number one over all pick.

Bedard's linemates in practice today are Kurashev and Mikheyev.

I don't get the Mikheyev thing at ALL. He provides zero offensive support whatsoever.

Looks like Sorensen is just as lost as LR was
We'll see how this line works out.

If they are playing 2 1 2 it does make sense to have Mikheyev on his line he's one of the better puck hounds on the team.
