Here we go again, a lead going into the third. Keep the pressure on, don’t turtle. - Angotti
And they didn't. If they changed anything in the 3rd period with a 1 goal lead I did not see it. They looked to play the same pressure the puck keep your feet going game they played in the first two periods instead of packing it in and got a win.

Misiak was drafted out of the USHL so he could have gone to the ECHL or AHL at any time after he was drafted. He was drafted out of the USHL then went to the CHL the next yr and could have left at any time for pro.
But, he hasn't been ready and needs jrs. - Mr Ricochet
Misiak played well in the exhibition game ….smart and dependable plus skates well. Reportedly has some ability but has not and is not your scoring forward type Has size but not really physical. One of many who could get a look if they develop well in Rockford |

Nice to see a W with Soda/Korch/Allan/Kaiser all playing.
1 SOG for Bedard,still bad
Not sure who his linemates were and if there was any line juggling?
Korch seems to have played well, Sorensen even gave him some praise in a quote that I saw, he'll stay up for the Islanders game later this week.
Reichel only 10min of ice time? Did he play that bad? |

1 SOG for Bedard, still bad - - captainseriousHe was decent but still needs to be putting more SOG
Not sure who his linemates were and if there was any line juggling? 23 and 95
Korch seems to have played well, Sorensen even gave him some praise in a quote that I saw, he'll stay up for the Islanders game later this week. He played well and so did the other young dmen. Korchinski had a nice play to breakup a rush up ice by Panarin and had a nice game OA. Of the yutes on D, Vlasic had a great game. Allan looked pretty good but I really liked Kaiser's game last nite
Reichel only 10min of ice time? Did he play that bad?Thought Reichel played pretty well. W/O looking, think he had 3 SOG and he's just more physically engaged along the boards and winning some of those battles

Who are these guys??? .. Last game someone posted the compete was noticeably better, then a couple more chimed in that they agreed.. I thought I didn't really notice much difference but thought about it and I think I agree. Tonight though, seems the whole roster is puck hounding and dare I say coming in waves?.. Listening to the NYR feed they mentioned the Hawk forecheck is pretty good.
I was really concerned by a couple sequences in last game. His reads had him down and anchored a few times and that's 2023 Soderblom.. But he's dialed, tracking really reaaly well and is economical. .. Big chance for the Svede to show he's an NHL goalie as he carries the load of a #1 over some period of time.
I stand by Allan making a jump after his scratch. Kid looks confident and is in a way reading and just playing.
I'd rather not have Bedard and KK on the ice at the same time and noticed it a few times. - Mr Ricochet
Theoretically they should open up the ice for each other and if it's about development and not necessarily winning every game then they gotta figure out how to score and not kill the team a the same time. |

Overall I thought the whole team looked really good last nite. Soda had a great game and there weren't really any passengers.
Most encouraging to me is that Hall, Bertuuzzi and Teuvo all had good games. All three were really good on the forecheck and Bertuzzi had I think by far his best game in a Hawk uni.
There were several times he stood up Rags in the neutral zone and he was winning puck battles in the Ozone more often than not. He ended up with 5 SOG and was generally a PITA to play against all night. It's his game and how I was hoping he'd play when we signed him. |

Looks like Boston and NY are in decline, I'm sure if they throw money at it they'll be able to bring in young premium talent. - BetweenTheDots
Boston has been a little up then a little down for a while.
Zibanejad is having a rough start to the year.
The mess that Drury created does not help. And Laviolette can only challenge guys in the locker room so many times before it just stops working.
If anything at least Kyle isn't an ass hole. |

Yes, Kantserov, Spellacy, Vanacker, maybe Boisvert and Felcman could be coming after next year. Will be interesting to see how they clear some spots for those guys. - totem
How you mean. Just about half the forwards have this year left. Everyone else expires after next except TT and Bertuzzi. |

Think he was referring to spots being cleared in RFD. |

You seem to pay attention to how the club is passing, but yea I thought the club was connected. .... They had some good outs and that allowed them to come thru the neutral zone with speed.
That's good. ...... I just liked pressuring the puck and keep your feet moving. You force the other team to make plays being pressured. Let's see if this is a thing or a blip but we gotta be happy with what we saw. - Mr Ricochet
The one thing that this group has been very good at, even with Luke, is taking advantage of a team that is struggling.
The Islanders have been v bad as well so you'd expect to see them get beat up. The Devils and Capitals have been good so I would expect them to struggle there. |

I agree with most of this, BB. And, I also have no problem with the coaching change as long as it wasn't done in panic mode. I do give KD and Crew the benefit of the doubt and like that they seem proactive to address whatever problems the see.
I'm just a big advocate of proper development that stays the path, especially in a rebuild. ...... I do disagree with you thinking KK was fine, or even ok, last yr. IMO he just hung on as best he could and to me he showed a lot just not getting swamped on a horrid roster last yr and had to deal with his Pops' death. Kid went thru a lotta adversity and did ok.
Yea bring KK and Nazar up if only to gauge where they are at but no way have they developed good habits long enough. But, KD had a card to play by bringing up the two very good offensive players and he played it.
Fun to watch, especially if tonight was a preview of things to some. - Mr Ricochet
The problem there is they are so much better technically and athletically than the rest of the competition that once they start playing with confidence there is going to be a settling in and bad habits start to form.
If Korch continues to play like he did last night then there isn't any reason to send him back down.
They can tell Brodie they'll do their best to find him a taker and go from there. |

Thanks for the summary!
Hope Sorensen finds a combo of linemates for 98 that work.
1 sog isn't going to cut it.
Going to be a huge log jam at D in a week or so when Martinez and Jones come back. Personally,I'd sit Brodie, but I have no idea what they'll do if Korch shows blhe can play.
Kaiser,Allan,Korch? It isn't even a good time to try and trade Kaiser or Allan. Good on Kaiser,3rd round pick and can play regularly in the NHL, I believe he was a Bowman pick too |

Indeed. Would be nice if it turns out Bowman and co hit on all of Vlasic, Kaiser, Allan and EDM.
Either way, Kaiser and Allan look like they belong with the Big Club and Vlasic has been a bit of a steal considering he was a 2nd rounder. Wonder where he goes in a redraft? When you re-examine you could almost flip spots where he and Kirby Dach were picked. I know Seider was considered a reach at 6 and can't remember if he was the first dman picked that year.
Another positive was not only did Kaiser look good last night but was playing the right side. |

I’ve now watched about 5-6 Ranger games this year. They have talent upfront, however many guys are holding their sticks very, very tight. Their defense is another story, that is another contender want to be with subpar defensemen, so glad the Hawks are building what could end up being a top three defense in the league. |

Not to be the "trade them all" guy, but the Rangers seem to need some bigger, stay at home defensive defenseman types. How about a Murphy for Kakko trade (since I'm sure no one has the appetite to trade any of the young kids, and I'd guess NYR would want a vet). |

Other than Murphy and Brodie to a certain extent - they had 4 guys on the blue line who are mobile enough - by mobile I mean especially laterally across the blue lines - to suffocate play in the neutral zone with two forwards higher.
I'd be interested to see how the denied entries stack up for the new guys.

Toronto has a similar issue but no one of Fox's calibre to make up for some of the short comings. |

Toronto has improved their defense, but yeah they don’t have anybody to push the pace, maybe Reilly. The Rangers defense is a liability, especially with Fox struggling a bit like he has lately. Miller has regressed, just one bad read after another, Schneider is coming along, but on a good team, he’s bottom pair at this time. They need a Vlasic and an Allan, however KD better keep them unless he gets blown away. |

Bedard still not playing with confidence. Had a few passes he missed and lost possession before taking a shot. A few blind passes to the center of the ice too. He was playing much better in the beginning of the season. He's trying too hard to do too much. The good thing is Sorensen seems to be handling Bedard's ice time better with shorter shifts.
Only 2 goals but my feeling is if the 2-1-2 is more effective and there are other Hawks scoring ie, Hall, TT and Bert, less pressure on Bedard so he'll play better.
I'd still rather Bedard does not play with Kurashev, especially when KK and Brodie are the D pair. They get hemmed in the D zone. |

It sure seemed 2 players were pressuring or angling the puck in every zone making it hard to make clean passes.
It also seemed like it was expected for the dman to activate, it seemed fluid how the forwards covered for the dmen, i don't know maybe I'm seeing things.
Watching the Rangers postgame is great. Blackhawks were the better team all night - BetweenTheDots
Hey Dots, I was listening to Sirius NHL radio on the way into work this morning and they mentioned that Sorenson had the Hawks' skaters line up 10 across facing each other and just pass pucks back and forth just to get back to basics. Maybe Anders reads your comments. |
