Dots, just get good players wherever you can, especially young guys. That's what I'm expecting KD to do no matter what phase or window the Hawks are in. ...... Holloway would be gold in the Hawk's organIzation and at minimal cost..
- Mr Ricochet

I agree with you. Only issue with the Holloway offer sheet was once Holloway signed it that was the only option. Bowman couldn't trade him for more at that point even though he definitely would get more on the market.

I am wondering if KD would go the offer sheet route. It's not like it's the old days of Burke/Lowe

I don't think he would have the same success that he's having with the Blues because they have a better all around team. But for me that's not good enough. I want the best talent on this team in a tightest window possible. That's how you win multiple Cups.
- BetweenTheDots

Holloway would be the 2nd best young forward on the roster. He is only 23. He might be better than anyone the Hawks currently have in the system. All for a 3rd round pick. If he keeps his upward trajectory he would be worth a decent sized contract 6-7mil per type.

Did they though? Are they really impact players? They are not a playoff team this season.

So now they have 1 young defender who might work out to be top 4, durability might be an issue.

Just curious to see in 3 to 5 years where both teams will be but there is no one on the Blues or in their system that really screams high end player.

- BetweenTheDots

Both are over 0.5 PPG. Holloway would be the second leading scorer on the Hawks at the moment. Broberg is having a very strong year defensively and is also providing offense. That's impact.

The Blues have Thomas, Kyrou, Buchnevich, Neighbors, and a decent defense. Not every team in the league is just going to tear everything down so they can get a 1OA. Most teams want to add pieces that will actually improve their club. If he turns out to be able to produce Sharp-level stats (which is just a little more than he is doing now), I'd say that's a big win for very little cost.

And what has that got them? So many "ifs" going forward.

Is he really having a strong year defensively?

You're right many teams don't have the balls to tear it all the way down. All i know is if KD doesn't miss on his high draft picks and is only half right on the later 1st round picks we most likely will have a nucleus to win a cup and maybe several more.

Bowman showed me you can win several Cups so long as you have the nucleus to do it.

He is the last one back into the defensive zone, but he does have a great shot.

I think Eiserman played the 30 seconds in the 3rd period tonight with the one man advantage and that's about it

Hmmmm, Halloway, or 1 of Martone, Hagens, Misa or Shaefer? I'll take the latter please.

Wolves Hogs game is on. levshunov doesn’t look good. Slow feet not particularly explosive. Idk nothing screams 2nd overall. No expert so assume I am missing thing.

It's why he's there. I'm sure there's patience somewhere within yourself please find it for your own sake.

Sure, but Holloway only cost the Blues a 3rd Dots. No one is saying that he’s elite, he’s a nice top six forward with speed and size and room to improve, and is only 23 years old. If you have an elite team, he’s probably still top 9.

I’m fine with him in Rockford. I just didn’t see what makes him so special. I assume I was missing it since I’m not an expert.

I get it, personally I'm uncomfortable going after other teams RFAs when I'm rebuilding as a franchise. I'm probably wrong but it would not surprise me if a team(s) returns the favor to the Blues in the near future.

I was watching Bowen Byram tonight skating for Buffalo, and he looks pretty good. Didn't we pass him up for Kirby Dach?

Yes, Dach went third OA and Byram went fourth, however the Hawks got Vlasic in the second round.

Bowman and co did a decent job picking later in round one of several drafts but kind of whiffed on the two top 10 picks they made.

Hard to say how Dach’s career would’ve gone without the injuries. Maybe the same? 🤷🏼‍♂️

They couldn’t draft a dman to save their lives and now have hit on Vlasic, and possibly Kaiser and Allan and maybe Del Mastro and Crevier.

Who knows. Look what the Oilers did letting young talent go. Knies is a beast and only 22. Hawks need a few forwards like him.
- bhawks2241

Oilers were up against the cap. Leafs have $11 mil cap hit from Tavares coming off the books and the cap is going up tremendously and that's regardless of what they do with Marner because they'll still have plenty to bridge Knies.

If KD can get a guaranteed 1st round pick you move Donato and look to re-sign him in the summer. Otherwise I’d re-sign Donato now to a fair mid-term deal. The Hawks don’t need any more 3rd or 4th round picks.

Correct and highly doubt Donato nets a 1st

Who knows, Donato is good filler as an NHLer until he gets pushed out of Chicago. Although at $2 mil he might be an attractive piece for a team trying to win a cup.

Didn't think McCabe and Lafferty trade would net us a 1st and 2nd, so.... Martinez and Donato....?

I’m hoping that Mrazek goes on a heater, and when Broissoit comes back, maybe they move Mrazek in a package. I’m hoping that he plays well today, as I’ve never liked the Rangers.

There's a team that did the retooling strategy and they got old really quick. Thin at dman, i guess time to retool again.
