I can’t see Landeskog being much of a factor should he come back. Too much time missed and too big an injury to overcome. Colorado is one of a few teams linked to Jonathan Toews, who is also a long shot to be very effective. - paulr
Yeah, I don't hold out much hope for him coming back healthy. That was kind of my point though. They've had injuries to some very important players (and just recently seemed to have figured out their goalie situation). Drouin and Nichushkin are both close to PPG players. Landeskog was a monster when he was playing. It's like if you remove Hossa, Sharp, and Richards from the 2015 team. They wouldn't have near the depth either. |

Hope you're okay LA? - BetweenTheDots
Thanks Dots, missed the game. Got mandatory evacuation notice this afternoon, checked into hotel. So far I am fortunate, winds haven’t picked up.
Looks like the skids did good. |

Hogs lost 4-1 at home. Commesso will not like himself in the morning. Just bad bad. Lots of bad turnovers that immediately led to goals. Lev looked good. Just rifling shots when he gets the opportunity. Created a ton of chances and lots of his shots get through.
Still moves so smooth. |

What weird games we have. Beat hot teams like MTL and the Avs and then get pasted by the Blues and NYR.
In both wins, we had above average goal tending.
Bedard looked good this game. Buzzing other than on the PP. If only he could have played like this on national TV.
We struggle getting ENG in the few games we are presented with the opportunity. But heck a W is a W. |

It's not weird at all. Against bigger teams, the Hawks play mostly perimeter, not many quality shots generated, and lose most puck and board battles.

Damn. News said the winds are down a bit this am and the fire crews might be able to make some headway, so hopefully that’s the case. Anyway stay safe. |

Chunk, do you think that Levshunov will be up next year, or will he need another year in the AHL? I’ve only seen one period of Hogs this year. |

It's really hard to tell. I kind of want him to show he can dominate the AHL before coming up. When he got to Green Bay he started off a bit slow, then showed his colors. Very similar with Mich St. Once he got going he really showed out. If he turns it on over the second half of the season in Rockford, I think there is a chance. I think regardless, he'll get a very long look in camp next year.
Positives:
1) Big/strong to move guys out of the crease and win board battles
2) Insanely efficient skater. Looks like he isn't even moving his feet.
3) Takes tons of shots and get a ton through. Creates a lot of opportunities for others.
Negatives:
1) Decision making in the D-zone is a bit slow right now. Skating kind of makes up for it, but needs to see the whole ice a little better.
2) Is a little overaggressive offensively for me personally. Like many others, I prefer that D-men can play defense. This is for sure a tightrope because I think he is really good with the puck and he does create a ton of chances.
I'd handicap it at 60% that he could make the team next year, but that obviously depends on how the rest of this year goes.
Side note: The last two games I've watched (yesterday and one last week) EDM has been a complete wiener clearing out the front of his net. I'm loving it. Still not sure if he has enough total game to make an impact in the bigs, but I think he'll make it interesting. |

Seems like the kids have brought some needed energy to the lineup and are starting to settle in. Hope they leave Dach and Nazar on the same line. Seems to have energized Bedard as well.
I’d bring up Gutman and put him on L4 or L3, bet he will bring it. Reichel can take a seat.
Hope this trend continues. Who would’ve thought some young legs in the lineup instead of a bunch of washed vets would increase the energy levels.
What I love about McKinnon. He plays most of the time like his hair is on fire. He wants the puck, he goes and gets the puck, and he wants to dominate you every shift. |

I am the furthest away from being a Reichel enthusiast at this point (I used to be the opposite), but he really needs to be put with some players that can play off of his skill. Being saddled with Smith and Maroon does him no favors. They are just turnover machines. Reichel isn't great, but he should at least get some run with actual players. D!ckinson can apparently play reliably with anyone. Put Reichel between Hall and Foligno for 5 games and see if he can show something.
I've made my feelings on Guttman known. He's the try hard guy that won't be able to cut it in the bigs. He's Hinostroza/Sikura repackaged. |

Agree about Guttman but he will bring nonstop energy to L4. Tired of watching vets not bring it every shift. Playing with energy is also contagious. Guys feed off each other. |

Too soon to tell I think. He's a quick learner but hasn't even played half an AHL season yet and is just getting his legs under him. Odds aren't likely he'll break camp with the big club but could come up at some point next season. We shall see. |
