It's really hard to tell. I kind of want him to show he can dominate the AHL before coming up. When he got to Green Bay he started off a bit slow, then showed his colors. Very similar with Mich St. Once he got going he really showed out. If he turns it on over the second half of the season in Rockford, I think there is a chance. I think regardless, he'll get a very long look in camp next year.

Positives:
1) Big/strong to move guys out of the crease and win board battles
2) Insanely efficient skater. Looks like he isn't even moving his feet.
3) Takes tons of shots and get a ton through. Creates a lot of opportunities for others.

Negatives:
1) Decision making in the D-zone is a bit slow right now. Skating kind of makes up for it, but needs to see the whole ice a little better.
2) Is a little overaggressive offensively for me personally. Like many others, I prefer that D-men can play defense. This is for sure a tightrope because I think he is really good with the puck and he does create a ton of chances.

I'd handicap it at 60% that he could make the team next year, but that obviously depends on how the rest of this year goes.

Side note: The last two games I've watched (yesterday and one last week) EDM has been a complete wiener clearing out the front of his net. I'm loving it. Still not sure if he has enough total game to make an impact in the bigs, but I think he'll make it interesting.

This guy gets it! Yeah, I was extending the joke.

Kinda quiet here after a win. Not as much to complain about I guess?

Looking at practice today, seems that Reichel will go back to the box (took Hall's spot while out on a maintenance day), and Kurashev will slot back in to 4C with Maroon on his other wing.

At this point, why don't they just put Kurashev and Reichel on a line together and see if they can work things out? Wasn't that the line when Reichel was playing his best 2 years ago? Reichel - Shev - AA?

I think that would make more sense then benching him.
Reichel Nazat Dach wouldn't be a bad line either...still not sure why Mick is up there with Bert and Bedard.

Kinda quiet about the Blackhawks, other than some drama from barstool chief about Bedard..
Just read an article a min ago where he mentioned that some of Bedards off ice actions have raised eyebrows or sthg along those lines...not sure if it is Roenick related too as I never felt like seeing why JR called out 98.

Any news on Petterson? Cant find anything new, just wondering if VanCity will get rid of him..

Just for fun, a quick comparison, obviously not a huge sample size, but some of the numbers under LR vs AS as Head Coach (so far).

LR - 26 games
Standing s - on pace 57 points
GF/game - 2.42
GA/game - 3.15
Goalie SV% 0.909 - Goalies giving up a goal on about every 11 shots.

Bedard - 19 points - 0.73 points per game which was 93rd best in the league, scored at a 60 point pace.

AS - 15 games
Standings - on pace 66 points
GF/game 2.73
GA/game 3.73
Goalie SV% 0.882 - Goalies giving up a goal on about every 8.5 shots.

Bedard - 18 points - 1.20 points per game which was 15th best in the league, scored at a 98 point pace.

Bedard is going better so far under AS but the goalies did a lot better under LR. (Goalies nearly 1 entire GA per game better)

I'm pretty curious to see how things continue under the coaching change. Would love to see them get more consistency game to game.

Gotta say..i was a bit of a doomer for the first 25 games of the season..but after the Hocks let LR go,I'm enjoying them a bit more.
Saw the Carle talk from Friedman...wouldn't mind the Hocks taking a chance on him.
Either him or Cooper if Coop! doesn't resign in Tampa...wouldn't mind having Coop!here for a nice damn good of coffee

Nice numbers.
98 seems to be playing with more confidence. Same goes for Bertuzzi,Mick,Teuvo.

Anyone get an extended look at Levshunov with the piggies?

I had people invade my space for the 2nd and 3rd periods but from what I saw with the sound down on my lap top this for me was Bedard's best game this yr. ..... I guess simply said the kid played hungry hockey and pitched in being a hockey player.

The 1st period I saw the kid on the same shift on both end lines without the puck! That's huge for a player always at the top of zones reading or flying zones so to see him twice at end lines without the puck on the same shift is playing hungry.

And twice in the 1st period he got his stick on pucks, one resulting in a Mikahev goal and another he won a puck and dangerously circled the top of the zone.

Then the disallowed goal. Kid was playing hockey in the opponent's crease!!

Then his goal. Talked about you know his game is off when he shooting into the goalies crest. He unleashed a sizzler above the elbow which is tough to stop.

Kid was a hockey player last night and a hungry one and watching him he didn't feel like a liability in 2 of 3 zones and even seemed his puck management was better in the attack zone. . .... Kid took a step last night in my eye.

Anyone complaining about Bedard's off-ice stuff is just bored or searching for attention. Nothing there.

I think Pettersen is just coming back from injury, so things might heat up a bit after he gets back on the ice. Lots of smoke, but that's a big contract to move, so the return would have to be interesting.

I think Mikheyev has been really good on the top line. Fast enough to create space and smart enough to be where Bedard can find him.

Scroll to the top of this page. Lou responded to my recent review. I've seen about 17 of his games. Some I like, some I have concerns, but overall, I think he's gonna be the goods.

I'll repeat my main concern is that people will think he doesn't care or is lazy. He has kinda strange body language on the ice, but he just moves so easily it looks like he's slacking. He's so efficient with his feet.

Cool write up.
60% chance of making the team next year is pretty good.
I'll say this,if he and Korch aren't with the team outta training camp this fall, then there is something with those picks

I believe there was some zmoke around Petterson joining the Hocks last season..then he signed an extension with the Nucks... Maybe they take a run at him this year. Korch or Lev+Tor1st round pick for Pettey? Then draft Schaefer with their 1st round pick?

Thanks bread, those numbers pretty much match what I’m seeing. Glad the offensive numbers are trending up 0.31/game, sure wish the GA’s would go down a bit as they’re up 0.58/game.

FYI - That 60% is MY assumption and mine alone.

I wouldn't get too worked up about when the D-men shuffle in. They've got basically a full roster at the moment even after Martinez and Brodie are gone. I think KK will be up permanently after the TDL personally. He played really well and I'm sure he'll work his rear off to be more consistent when he returns.

I stand by my statement on Lev that I'd like to see him take over in the second half of the year before he gets a call from the Hawks.

Something the Blackhawks don't have...unless Van wants to take Jones contract. I believe his cap hit is probably 2mil less than Petterson's,but the Hocks would need to add a sweetener of sorts.

I would trade KK and Toronto’s first for a good young center, however not sure EP is the right young center. Also, Levshunov was a 2OA, that to me has as much value as 2 firsts, of course that value could change depending on his development.

Yeah. I heard that want at least a promising young center too. Probably along the lines of Cozens, Rasmussen, Kotkaniemi, Dach, etc. Don't think Reichel would cut it but who knows how other teams value our forwards. Maybe it would be Nazar but hasn't established himself yet.

Looks like other teams will have the right chips to make a Petterson/Miller trade.
Reichel's value is near 0 if you ask me. Probably still not a good time to trade Nazar yet. He hasn't had enough time to show if he has the goods to play as a 2nd line C/W
