Been watching Crevier closely and the kid does mark his check closely and is looking to tie up sticks even when his back is turned to the goalie. Trick is, which guy is your man......... Kid knows his role and it seems the more he plays the chippier he gets in the slot.
- Mr Ricochet

Last year I didn’t think Crevier had a chance to play in the NHL. He was decent positionally sound, he passed the puck out of his end well. But he didn’t move particularly well and he seemed disinterested in being even remotely physical. He obviously put work into his skating, he actually has reasonably good hands and someone has convinced him to play with some physicality and as you say chippiness. He’s done well for himself.

Crazy that goal started with Jones knocking the puck off McDavid's stick 190 ft from the net.

If the Oilers ARE interested in Taylor Hall, I think I would try and get another small forward, Matt Savoie, as the return.
Savoie has got some fiestiness playing in Bakerfield California and is not Shaw, but engages in hs shifts.

The Blackhawks are at the point with their 50 player protected list where as much as improvement may come from a add of another young close to or ready youngster, the 50 player list is filling quickly.

I am guessing Kyle will look for future second round and third round adds for any of the vets he sells at the deadline.

And as much as I grimace with these losses that I think they COULD have won, with half the seaosn gone they look in prime position to draft in that nice top six in 2025, where there are no Bedards but plenty of guys with savvy and upside.

Now, related to the above posts, maybe it is time to find another non contender who ants to underachieving forwards for ours...

I can't wait for Hall to be gone. I won't miss his terrible passes in the offensive zone that leads to odd man advantages and his inability to stay on sides. He handles the puck like a hand grenade, the sooner the better

Kancterov just played his 100th KHL game so he's getting his seasoning at a high level, which I'm a big fan of...... How much fun will it be for Hawk fans as the Kantcerovs and Lardis trickle up to a shot at the Bigs? Never know but one of these guys may be a soul mate for Bedard or Frankie? Boisvert too and Spellacy.

Edit: One more thing about Kantcerov, IIRC last I saw he was skating 17:00 a game in the KHL.

It's unusual for a kid to get that many minutes a game if he's not signed long term. Though that may be a SKA thing

I can't wait till Brodie and Jones are gone or minimized in minutes played

I have to agree with LA, Brodie shouldn't even be out there, if i were GM he'd be on Rockford right now

A lot of the young guys weren't great and saw limited minutes tonight. Reichel and Dach struggled and didn't get much ice time and Allan was the low man on the totem pole on the blueline. Tough match up for rookies against the forwards the Oilers have.
When they are going it's tough to slow them down.

Hawks top line couldn't get anything going against their matchup.

I'd still rather see them struggle than watch the veterans do the same. I'd much rather watch Kaiser over Brodie.

Definitely outskilled last night so don't mind a loss like this as much.

It is entertaining watching how sick McJesus and Drai's skills are.

Any chance the Hawcks pass up on Martone if he is there because his skating is apparently - so so?

Also, your thoughts on Hagens? Chris Peters and Cam Robinson were on a podcast together where they said the wjc didn't hurt is status, but didn't do anything to improve it either. They said they see him anywhere between the 1-4 picks

- captainserious

Sometimes you see the best player draft after a half dozen years being a guy pick out of the top three.
Scouting is far more sophisticated that I think every plus and minus of what each youngster CURRENTLY does well is documented.
You can project transition to the pros but obviously some kids are hellbent to be players they get there in that five year improvemnet window, and of cours some even later.
Sure. Hagens is shrimpy, but the head, hands skating and shot are what put him at teh top early on. If Pittsburgh won the lottery, I doubt they pass on him.
A lot of prognosticators see Porter as a man-child in his current amateur league.

I always wonder with any scorers about the goalsi ethey scored on, if their domination is a by-product of their larger siz, etc.
I think Martone got benched in the Worlds more because of the compostion fof the lteam, and him being a puzzle peice that wasn't fitting where they wanted him ro, more that his "play." Sure he alcked production but that was all around that squad.
The criticism on his skating is based on the facts he isn't an super agile long strider. (Kinda like Dach isn't the skater the Hawks new scouts have concentrated on drfating.
Porter Martone is a player. I think I take him, and pray that Hagens doesn't become a point per game small guy.
Martone likes to play the game edgy, but his comparing himself to the brother Thachuk or Perry is a kid talking, not a fact based idea, just a possible.
I just think he is a scorer - a kid who know how to hang out in front, on the wall, and in the middle, covered or not and has the ability to do the right things. Does he become a 5o gaol guy Ask a fortune teller. r and Bedsy and never
I love Frankie Nazar nevr doubting he could play against NHLers. Are Bedsy and Frankie our future centres, or have they drfated or will draft bigger centremen who will?
I think Martone plays and has a chance at some success in the bigs. We need size.

But Misa is no slouch with plenty of upside.
Injured Roger McQueen is a guy you extensively scout too.

And I could be burned withe next thing I say.
We don't have a Jonathan Toews right?

I really really like centre Caleb Desnoyers whio just can play!

and obviously they are not taking the last two guys in top two picks, but I think the hawks are unafraid to get "different types" of forwards.
Not sure who they see as their fit....

Sometimes manchilds don't work out in leagues they cant run over everyone else. Mark McNeill comes to mind. Good scoring on a bad Prince Albert team because he could run over the smaller players. Played 2 NHL games since he couldn't play against guys his size.

And even if they do it seems like it takes then a while to develop.
