Everything they do is slow and telegraphed. The D hold onto picks too long. Forwards just sit waiting for the D to hopefully clear the crease, and the goalies continually turn th puck over when they handle it.

How many times do they have to repeat the same poop after games??

Before they play a possession game they have to win puck battles.

When dmen just fire it out of the zone with no regard to possession and have some time and space, no they really don't

Can someone please just elbow Popsicle to the head the next time he comes out on the ice and just keep doing it to him until he's out of the game

He’s had one decent game since he got back. I wonder if they have asked him for a list of teams he’d accept a trade to.

It will cost the Hawks a ton to move him. The problem is his lack of leadership and his apathetic attitude can rub off on the young kids who may look up to him. Is it worth adding a prospect or two or draft pick(s) and possibly retaining part of his contract or just suck up the cap implications and buy him out?

So what’s Davidson’s next move? The drafted prospects hopefully will start trickling in over the next four years. He can’t risk promoting them in a panic and have a situation where they aren’t ready to play at that level. The veterans aren’t defining a culture for the team. Some are just washed up while others are going through the motions. Any trades or free agent acquisitions must factor in how the player fits both short and long term. My fear is next season sees a repeat and the team once again is unable to compete and ownership brings in a new GM with a different philosophy.

Quiet possible. I think it’s too soon to consider flipping one of the young defenseman for a young top 6 forward.

I hope most the D prospects develop and the Hawks can trade one for an a young impact forward.

This post nailed it, that is exactly where they’re at. They’ll be picking top three, and they can’t miss. They’ll move out some of the vets at TDL, however they won’t be able to improve the team until the offseason, except for addition by subtraction.

And maybe win a faceoff or two so they don't have to waste so much energy chasing.

Any trade we make will include Kurashev.
- rpeters01

Kurashev will not be traded. No NHL team wants him, not even with $$ retained.

His contract will run out in April, and by September, he will be playing for a European team.

Ha! Nice. I'm just hoping to see Reichel do something while playing with skilled linemates. My expectation for him is quite low, but just be a guy that can carry the puck in and not just throw it away (although most of the team does this).
- Chunk

Lukas Reichel tonight, 13:16 of ice time, ZERO shots on goal.

It's always good to see a young player take what his coaches want and implement it.

What are you talking about? We're all rainbows and unicorn farts here.

I think there are some nice things to concentrate on (some nice prospects, kids getting some time, etc). It's just there is so little to like in terms of the team's direction right now.

My biggest issue is that they seem so close to the Sabers right now. If all of the kids hit their ceilings, are they really that good of a team? It seems that they would be somewhere around the STL level to me. This is why I get frustrated when KD passes up the chance to get a guy like Kakko. At the very minimum, he improves the current team.

Every move from this past offseason on should be (or should have been) to start improving the team. TT and Bertuzzi were nice. I didn't mind Mikheyev. Brodie, Maroon and Smith were just wastes. If you are bringing in guys like that, just let kids play.

- Chunk

That's what I said recently, but people here were in attack mode, claiming that they were all brought in to help mentor the kids, most of them sent to the AHL. So, which is it???

And I've been saying this.... if the fans start to walk away, like they did in the mid 90s and early 2000s, this current ownership will be launching this front office, regardless of the prospects coming. They cannot afford to fall into obscurity again.

Bringing in 8 veterans, claiming to build a better NHL product this year, and actually being worse than last year, is a fireable offense.

Picked off a pass in the O zone and fed Crevier for a goal. Would have been better with more shots but it's a push this game

100% I would beat that offer, and it wouldn't be very difficult to do so with the Hawks arsenal of assets. Kakko is a larger 200' player who can and has supplied decent production (he's got 8 pts in 11 games since joining SEA). He's past the point of figuring out the NHL and is a player. He would be an upgrade over 2/3 of the forwards on the team currently and is cheap and somewhat controllable as an RFA. That is precisely the move you make right now.

If I had to guess right now, Brodie will be bought out. No one is going to want him at his current cost. Is Anderson as good or better than both Maroon and Smith? I'd say yes. Not to mention, you had AA still with the team at the time. You don't need to keep signing suck when you already have it available, and they'd still have the ability to bring kids along at their own pace.

The other frustrating thing (that others have noted here) is that they seem to mostly be applying the merit requirement to the kids. Brodie should have been stapled about a month and a half ago. I've said my piece about Maroon and Smith. There just doesn't seem to be a cohesive plan in place.

I mentioned this about a month ago, and was mocked for it.

I've been to a few Icehog games, and I can tell you right now the only other forwards that would be of any use at the NHL lever are Savoie and Slaggert.

Other than them, nothing but AHL fodder.

Hopefully Rinzel, Moore and others sign their contracts.

I do think they need to really begin considering moving on without Jones.

Free agency, trade, he needs to find at least a legitimate top 6 forward. One this year and probably another next year.

Yeh but not in a European country known for hockey ... maybe in Albania... possibly Romania.
