Non-Retread David Carle from DU-Won everywhere, likes offensive hockey.
Partial Retread Todd Nelson coached Oilers for 51 games in 14. Won everywhere he's been. 5 Championships. Coached Hersey for the past 3 years, won 2 Championships and those players are now in Washington with the 2nd best record in the NHL. Can coach, can teach, can develop. This is who I wanted when they signed Richardson. Team would be much further along.
Full Retread Cooper or Bednar if available. I think Cooper is rock solid at all aspects and won everywhere. Bednar might get dumped if they lose early. Maybe his record is inflated by Makar and McKinnon but every time I watch Colorado I like their style. Of the out of work Retreads-Don Granato. 100% biased here because I know him a bit and have listened to him talk about the league for years. I've never heard a guy talk about hockey with more passion and more sense than Granato. If Adams had signed a couple of solid Dmen 2 years ago, I think Buffalo could be in the same place as Ottawa, banging on the door for playoff spot and Granato would be in the running for runner up to Carbery for coach of the year.
From The Board, Wiz. Would love to see NHL guys trying to make sense of his instructions. - stevefrmglencoe
I had to re-read that. I thought you were being rude for a second.
I've been on the Carle bus for a while now. I went to a DU game a little while back and loved what I saw on the ice. I think the consistency across the lines was the most impressive part. |

After this top 5 pick, they better not be in position to do it again unless they are 10th and win the lottery.
I'll tell you what, if CBUS has an internal cap that they can't/won't go over and Voronkov is made available, I would consider making a huge push to get him. Huge Russian (could be Arty's friend in the bigs) who plays heavy and scores. - Chunk
They could/should draft Ivan Ryabkin also or as an alternative. Get Levshunov another play date. First 11 games in USHL after coming over from Mother Russia and he has 8 goals/5 helpers. |

Whoever they bring in needs to reduce shots against, you can’t win games consistently giving up 40 SOG/game. I understand that you need the horses for that as well, the new coach needs to figure out a defensive structure that also helps the offensive game. Q’s system was perfect, but that ship has sailed. |

Ek with an E4 (whatever that really means) on the Stars pushing to trade for Jones.
If that's the case, I think the conversation starts with Stankoven (I doubt they would move Johnston), or Bourque. Likely would need to take at least Dumba back. |

Do you think KD has any leverage considering Jones’ contract and if Dallas is the only team interested in him? |

Dumba and a 3rd or 2nd, depending on how much would be retained. Dallas would be doing KD a huge favor, so don't expect a high value roster player coming back. |

Top 100 prospects, in case you have a subscription to The Athletic. If you click on each name you get an overview of the player. The Hawks have seven on the list, Levshunov came in at #3. - Angotti

I think Davidson has all the leverage Hawks don't have to trade Jones unless Jones request a trade out. Imo the conversation starts with bourse. Jones 2 million retained a 4th to Dallas for dumba bourqe and kryro

Do you think KD has any leverage considering Jones’ contract and if Dallas is the only team interested in him? - paulr
Yes, I do. I could be sorely mistaken, but despite all of his detractors, he's a 30 year old, high minute RHD who provides offense and -as we've seen recently - can play good defense when engaged (I would bet that if he was on a talented team that was in the playoff hunt he'd be much more consistently motivated).
Not to mention KD has absolutely no pressure to trade him. The Hawks have no one ready to take over his spot, they basically need the cap charge at this point. If I'm KD, and Dallas is one of the few places that he'll waive to go and Dallas is interested, he can 100% play Dallas against themselves. I have no idea how real that rumor is (any chance Bob sent that one to Ek?), but the notion that the Hawks would have to basically pay someone to take him is not rooted in reality.
This is not the same as the Kane situation where KD was not going to give him another deal, he was on an expiring contract and Kane mandated that NYR was the only place he would go. |

While Hockey against "friends" takes place, I am still trying to build a mock.
While everyone has discussing which round "haul" we are going to be able to receive for our trade deadline discards, I want to make it clear.
This is draft full of prospects who teams will wait for a long while before then even develop to sniff the pros.
The first round has MAYBE includes 2o possibly safe pickswith more than half of them as guys still needinf development.
That goes on through the second, third, etc.
There will be selection in the tp 15 through the top 90 who look to have a "chance."
i don't know if i have ever seen a draft class so divisive, blended, and like dart board. (maybe just old age is setting in...)
and I think Arrty Levshunov is gonna surprise you....
Has anybody watched when the NY Rangers giant forward Rempe hit the ice for a shift and how he just starts coliding with opposing guys?
When Arty is comfortable as a NHL pro, expect him to make some new friends in other jerseys.
I haven't had time to watch Ivan Ryabkin in the USHL yet...I haven't added all my skaters in my 7 rounds and have a group of klingon goalies filling my backend...

Rempe?
Re Levshunov: I'm with you. The more I see of him the more I like. He's still young and needs to refine some things, but his feel in the offensive zone is something to watch (even with a realtive collection of scrubs he's playing with). His strength is noticeable, his shot is really good and he gets it through often, and he can set up his teammates.
FYI - Commesso out for a couple weeks with a sprained ankle. Dach out 7-10 days with a hip flexor strain.

I think the North Stars were our greatest rivalry. I think the fans loved to Hate Dino Ciccarelli. The chants "Dino Sucks" and all of the dinosaur's that were hanging at the end of a stick. I had season tickets from 80-94 and I always loved the North Stars-Hawk games the best. I remember one game where Secord took his stick and slammed Dino across the back at the center ice circle. |

Well, there's a ticket for some idle speculation:
GMKD said they aren’t necessarily married to their top pick in the 2025 NHL Draft. It will likely be in the top five overall at this point (they sit second in the lottery odds at the break). He told Powers they would be open to exploring something that might add an NHL player or a player who’s close to the NHL that they feel will help the overall program.
What return can be had for the pick that would be Martone, Misa, or Hagens? |

I had season tickets in the early 80’s, no doubt that was a great rivalry. While we hated Ciccarelli, we would have loved him on the Hawks. |

I thought Kyle was just in "interview speak" basically saying, we are open for anything, so he doesn't get quoted as "Blackhawks GM says he will not trade his first pick."
Great young players may come available if some other team doesn't want to write a big check for their next deal, but I am not sure I see "that" player who tips the scales toward not drafting Misa, Martone, or Hagens...is Macklin Celebrini available???
I think this was the guy Kyle was hoping we would luck into as out Toews Kane new duo, but no one else is out there, right? |

Voronkov, Chinakov, Marchenko, or Johnson from CBUS (although the last two Russians are currently injured).
Knies from TOR
Likely a good number of other young guys that have already established themselves.

Ha! I just read a proposed trade by some writer that sends the Anaheim Ducks a first round draft pick 200 years into the future. It was a 2205 pick. I realized he screwed up but that would be the ultimate trade! |
