Voronkov, Chinakov, Marchenko, or Johnson from CBUS (although the last two Russians are currently injured).
Knies from TOR
Likely a good number of other young guys that have already established themselves.

I don't think any of those are worth a top 5 pick. Cowan? Greentree?

Well, there's a ticket for some idle speculation:

GMKD said they aren’t necessarily married to their top pick in the 2025 NHL Draft. It will likely be in the top five overall at this point (they sit second in the lottery odds at the break). He told Powers they would be open to exploring something that might add an NHL player or a player who’s close to the NHL that they feel will help the overall program.

What return can be had for the pick that would be Martone, Misa, or Hagens?

I think this is KD just letting the league know they are open to a trade. There's been a few young RFAs traded, even about to be UFAs and have received nice contracts from the teams they were traded to. So i think KD is doing what i would do, looking to trade and sign a young top 6 forward.

I know, it’s a lonely world. One of these days I may find one, but it won’t be anyone north of the border.

Brady Tkachuk!

You don't know who is available or disgruntled etc..didn't expect Rantanen to be traded and look what happened. How come nobody bashed Sakic for that trade? It was before the new salary cap projections, right? Chicago fans would have ripped KD a new one if he would have done something like that.

What would KD want for a top 5 pick? Maybe a prospect that is as close to as a sure thing 1st/2nd liner? Or KD gives up pick + prospect for a proven NHLer.

Ha! I just read a proposed trade by some writer that sends the Anaheim Ducks a first round draft pick 200 years into the future. It was a 2205 pick. I realized he screwed up but that would be the ultimate trade!

While Hockey against "friends" takes place, I am still trying to build a mock.
While everyone has discussing which round "haul" we are going to be able to receive for our trade deadline discards, I want to make it clear.

This is draft full of prospects who teams will wait for a long while before then even develop to sniff the pros.
The first round has MAYBE includes 2o possibly safe pickswith more than half of them as guys still needinf development.

That goes on through the second, third, etc.

There will be selection in the tp 15 through the top 90 who look to have a "chance."
i don't know if i have ever seen a draft class so divisive, blended, and like dart board. (maybe just old age is setting in...)

and I think Arrty Levshunov is gonna surprise you....

Has anybody watched when the NY Rangers giant forward Rempe hit the ice for a shift and how he just starts coliding with opposing guys?

When Arty is comfortable as a NHL pro, expect him to make some new friends in other jerseys.

I haven't had time to watch Ivan Ryabkin in the USHL yet...I haven't added all my skaters in my 7 rounds and have a group of klingon goalies filling my backend...

Wiz, even after the season Demidov is having, you still on board with the Hocks taking Lev instead of Demidov?
Have you been watching the piggies(Levshunov +Korchinski) much this season?

Byfield knies boldy cozens plus Quinn package deal
Mctavish just to name a few. Unless a team come to Chicago Blackhawks with an offer they cannot refuse thus being Hawks get the number 1 or 2 pick In the draft I see them making the pick.. one player and don't if Washington would do it but Ryan Leonard could be player I give up the number 2 pick for plus Washington's 1st which would be late

The three Russians are pretty much what you are hoping Martone will be except they are already in the league and have some proven track record. Same with Knies.

Hagens = Johnson?

Most publications and interviews have Scheafer as the best overall and he's 2-3 years out considering his age, no?

Cowan and Greentree are still projections. Why wouldn't you want a very young, very large forward that has proven to be able to produce in the NHL vs. guys that are still projects?

There was some bashing (especially after MacKinnon's comments), but since Necas and Drury are fitting in well I think people have calmed down.

Overall, it was a pretty even trade.

I think the North Stars were our greatest rivalry. I think the fans loved to Hate Dino Ciccarelli. The chants "Dino Sucks" and all of the dinosaur's that were hanging at the end of a stick. I had season tickets from 80-94 and I always loved the North Stars-Hawk games the best. I remember one game where Secord took his stick and slammed Dino across the back at the center ice circle.

I was given the gift of all three CHL junior league games but sure I watch a bit.

Sorry I still don't like Demidov's skating...I saw someone wrote it helps him during body contact.

I do like those snippets of Ivan Ryabkin, though.

Years of hockey prejudice having me feeling happier with Russians who are already overhere, after the Bowman picks that never made the trips across the pond.

A Dr. friend who did some consulting for an NHL team for the draft last year said we may have dodged a bullet with Demidov. He may have a short career.

It's interesting I've even heard Wheeler address his unusual skating style, i guess we'll see if that's an issue in the NHL. From all the info i gather he kind of sounds like a Dylan Strome like player.

KD should not trade a top three pick unless he is blown away. He should not trade that pick for some of the forwards mentioned earlier. I would trade Toronto’s pick plus for most of the players that Scott mentioned, but no way I’m including a pick that will probably turn into Schaefer or Misa, and I have a feeling these two are where the Hawks are leaning, no inside information, just a gut feeling. Same with Jones, KD will not retain for five years unless he gets equal value, and while some here will disagree, Jones does have value.

Just curious, if the Hawks were offered Boldy/Tkachuk/J. Hughes/Stutzle/etc (all 25 and under and established) would you change your tune?

QUESTION: If YOU were the Hawks GM and had the first pick, who would you choose? Would you go Schaefer if he was thought to be better than Lev and KK? and then eventually leverage one of them to another stud F. Or go with NEED and pick a Power F

Travel this week to Chicago, landed on Wednesday mid morning as snow started, poop show driving by 2 in the afternoon, get up for a 8 am flight this morning (after too much Moretti's thin crust and IPA last night) and it 3 freaking degrees outside!

I love the city, and love my sports teams, but could never live there again, holy Sheet that was cold!

If this is the NFL, you can err a bit more on drafting for need as the players are older and closer to contributors, but there is no reason to draft for need (unless you have like 20 of one position and that's the best guy). It just keeps you chasing. Just pick the best available.

Even if he's rated the same as KK and Lev, if he's best I take Schaefer (seems that he's starting to run away with being the best despite being out for so long).

Moretti's is excellent! My favorite is Jim and Pete's double dough. Elmwood Park.

I am in the Camp to draft Schaefer - you can never have enough Top End players on your team, especially on D. Its way easier to go out and get Top 6 fwds via FA and other methods - top end D is very difficult unless you can draft them

If you drafted three Viktor Hedman's by now you would have traded two Heman's due to cost. So yeah, I'll take the Hedman.
