I guess what I meant to say was a Zegras type.

Haven't watched any of Carolina. Is Rantanen playing well just not putting up points?
Read a rumor that Carolina might move him because it looks like he doesn't want to sign there.

- captainserious

If Rantenen won’t sigh for Carolina there’s absolutely no chance he’s signing with Chicago.

I’d like to see an established young NHL forward or a prospect ready to step in. Who that is, I have no idea! 🤷🏻‍♂️

OK, the NMC is stupid, but what's the problem with the dollars and term? Especially with the current cap and its projections, the guy is 19-8 with a 0.905, 2.53 GAA and 4 shutouts. He'll be 35 when the deal is up. This is market value, no?
- Chunk

I like Lanky, but I think this is a one and done season. 3-4 mil for 3 years is where I feel this should be with no NMC.

Though you are right. I'm sure if the Canucks didn't pay him, someone else would have.

So Kevin Dean said they couldn’t get the ref to come to the bench to get clarification on the non allowed goal to see if was kicked in or goalie interference. Maybe one of the coaches should have stood on the bench and grabbed their baxxs.

Saw that during the intermission.
Amateur hour for Anders and the assistants.

Just hate these lines. I don’t understand the purpose of them.

You’re stunting Bedard’s development playing him with bottom 6 guys.

Why Nazar and/or Bertuzzi are not permanently on his line…. Idk.

Jones just stops skating back. Nice effort.

I’m baffled by that as well. Sorensen would rather try and win a meaningless game over youth development, with that strategy and this roster, he’ll get neither.

Not a fan of them either.

Listened to the faxes from uncle dale podcast the other day. They mentioned an article from Scott Powers, they made it sound like Anders has a good chance of remaining the Hocks coach going forward. I hope Kyle isn't crazy enough to go that route.

I’m losing some faith in the organization as a whole. Supposedly brought in guys to play with Bedard. He’s dragging around a journeymen and a rookie bottom 6 guy.

No idea what the development plan is for Bedard. Are we back to him being on a checking line?

You burden Nazar and Bertuzzi with Kurashev.
Sorry but what has Kurashev done to get the two best line mates? Should be Bedard with them.

Seems to be that way again. Remember when Bertuzzi Bedard Nazar were humming as a line? Feel bad for Reichel too. Dragging around corpses.

Absolutely right.
I'm not sure what they are thinking? Spread the talent around to even out the lines? They don't have talent to spread around. Load up Nazar with Bedard and let them get their confidence going.
This is beyond frustrating. Maybe they should go after Carle if he has a track record of developing guys at jr and college levels.

Personally my timeline to see the team begin to get into playoff contention was the 26/27 season.

In 2007 the Hawks had the depth players drafted and in place. Then Toews and Kane are drafted and Hossa is signed. This time one star player is drafted with very little in the way of prospects ready. KD’s whole plan revolves around drafting a poopload of players and hopefully most will be in Chicago in two years. The free agents he signed were second or even third tier. Why? Because right now the state of the team will not attract the best free agents. And this coming summer is no different. If Rantenen or Marner are UFAs there no chance they sign with a team at least three years away from contending.

Be patient because by trading away anyone who had any talent to get a ton of draft picks made this team exceptionally weak. There is a chance KD’s plan falls apart and spectacularly (frank)s up. But there is also a chance the coming talent along with Bedard and possible free agents will be a team to be reckoned with.

As for Bedard, the old term what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger. Remember hearing all the stories from Seabrook and Keith about the lean years in Chicago and how bad the team was? It sure didn’t hurt them.

Bertuzzi, Bedard, Nazar, Teräväinen, and Reichel need to play top six, I don’t care if they get pinned in, that’s going on now. Also, I know they hung Mrazek out to dry, don’t care, Soderblom needs to get the majority of the starts, he’s part of the future until he’s not.

I’m fine with the rebuild. Like the young guys we have coming. I don’t like what is going on with the young guys that are up. Sure seems like they are trying to win games instead of maximizing development. 4 vets in on D. Bedard playing with 3rd liners. Reichel in 4th line purgatory and Kurashev getting rewarded for being horrible all year.

When Doug Gilmour was drafted after a great junior career he spent three seasons learning to play in the bottom six. Gilmour was smaller than Bedard is, although much feistier and physical. Those seasons of learning the whole game didn’t hurt his career. I’m not worried at all about the young kids, as I said earlier what doesn’t kill them will make them better.

This is all true. What really sucks is Lou Malnati's pulling out of Indy.

I can’t argue with that view point.

For my own personal enjoyment I would prefer watching Bertuzzi Bedard Nazar for the rest of the season 😂. And at least 3 kids playing on D every night.

Was getting my wish a month ago.

I will say the Hawks inability to string multiple passes together is even more obvious after 4 Nations.

Someone posted earlier not to hold our breaths for Rantanen or Marner. I don't think either is coming to Chicago either. At best, the Hocks will have go overlay to grab a Sam Bennett or Ehlers. Not saying they are bad players, each is fine, but not superstars.

I assume if they land a big star it will be via trade. Something along the lines how Florida landed Tkachuk and Carolina Rantanen.

I'm not even upset that they suck, just wish they'd set up Bedard and Nazar to at least see them try and get some more confidence and produce a bit more.
