There some reports he would be open to going back to Columbus - Scott1977
Any Jones trade will mean retaining salary or sending a bad contract back to Chicago. Other than that Chicago is unlikely to get much back. |

Chicago just needs to bite the bullet and keep playing him and hopefully Arty and Rinzel begin to reduce his minutes in a couple of years |

Jones at 6 mil per and I have to think teams are lining up.
Hawks take a bad contract back or eat 3 mil per Jones has solid value. 2nd pairing on a good team? |

Bedard 0-4 at the dot
Thought he was turning a page there for a bit. I believe he was above 50% last 9 or 10 games.

There is no sense dealing him if you retain and get very little ,which unfortunately I believe will occur .Hold on to him for a couple years ,cap goes up, years drop off. Contract looks a little better ,better return. To simple for Davidson . |

They need a lot of things. Guys that understand how to enter the zone. How to keep possession, clear their own zone, protect the puck at the blue lines, clear a crease, win a board battle, but I repeat myself. |

They may have to offer more retention for a deadline trade in order to allow more teams to get involved. Might have to retain less or not at all in the coming offseason.
Possible offseason trade, something like this:
To COL:
S. Jones (no retention)
2026 4th
To CHI:
J. Manson
I. Ivan
2027 2nd
maybe another young guy

After watching the first 8+ minutes of this 3rd, they need friggin everything. Just stupid hockey being played. If Sorenson can't get this team to be even close to competent, then I'm not sure he should be teaching the kids. I know this is a "hot take" but it's just pure discombobulation.
Guys either have no idea where to go with the puck, or there are simply no outlets for anyone. Not sure which is the bigger failure. |

Kurashev - gone after this season
Donato - it would be nice if they could get a 2nd at the TDL, but probably a 3rd
Maroon - gone at TDL for a late round pick, or after this season.
Smith - gone at TDL for a late round pick, or after this season.
Martinez - If you can't get a 3rd round pick I would keep him through year end.
AA - See ya
Brodie - buyout after this season
Soderblom - sign to medium term extension
Brossoit/Mrazek - move after the season depending on Brossoit's health
Bedard like Kane will be a 2nd line RW and power play specialist. That's not putting him down. I think we all would take similar Kane numbers and Kane effect.
Jones - gone at TDL or in the summer. But be prepared to be disappointed in the return and how much of his contract the Hawks are going to have to eat.

Not sure they have enough bodies if all those guys are sent packing.
Not going to say I'm 100% sure Bedard is basically another Kane, but it is looking more and more likely that he isn't this all world generational player that will contend for Art Ross / Lester B.Pearson awards year in and year out.
Kinda bums me out,was looking forward to seeing a Blackhawks in the midst of the pts race, it is fun watching Mackiinnon and other guys fight for it, with Bedard it would have made it funner |

What? He’s 19. McKinnon cracked 60 pts once his first 4 seasons. Some of the posters on here are so funny. Kucherov didn’t crack 70pts until his 4th season. Marner 3 seasons to crack 70. Draitsal didn’t crack 70 till his 3rd season.
That’s 4 of the 5 top point producers this year. The other is McDavid. No one in the top 10 in scoring aside from McDavid has done what Bedard has done so far.
Y’all need to lay off the green leaf or whatever is being consumed 😂 |

Bedard would be scoring 100 points if he played on a team like Tampa or Toronto. Getting close to a point a game on a lottery team is something. Even if he got to play with Kaner, he'd be crushing it, whenever they weren't pinned in their own zone, anyway. |

And now you understand why this place is called end The BOD (Board Of Doom). During the Hawks’ cup run some posters were actually upset the Hawks won without them being physical, or having a great powerplay, or a bad face off percentage etc.. And that’s when this site was renamed the BOD. |

I’m all for being critical when it’s warranted and probably go down the doom train on occasion but not that far down!
I was watching Bedard last night and I noticed his first two strides lack explosiveness. He so quick and light on his feet. Change of direction is so good but he doesn’t seem to be able to stick his edges into the ice and explode to create separation.
If he can become more explosive he’s going to be an absolute monster. I think that will come as he matures and becomes stronger.
Just my thoughts. Dcat really improved his explosive skating his 2nd year with the Hawks. To the point it was very noticeable on the ice. |

Definitely. Just watch him when he gets Nazar and Bertuzzi on his line. It’s a different kind of hockey. Guys who’ve been bottom 6ers just don’t play the same way. |

I’ve posted this before, Bedard’s approach and game remind me of Wayne Gretzky, good skater but not overly fast, not physical at all, his hockey vision and hockey IQ are off the charts. Add in an extremely accurate shot, a lightening quick release as well as exceptional passing abilities. I expect Bedard to get even better when he has teammates good enough to prevent teams from double and triple teaming him. On the power play against the Leafs the other day a Leaf player never left Bedard’s side. The Leafs had absolutely no concern about leaving anyone else uncovered. |

Was at the game last night and totally agree. Not sure if he is dinged up or sick, but he had zero jump.
The whole team looked terrible other than Soda and maybe Nazar. He hustles and can skate! There were a lot of Blackhawks fans at the game, so that was cool to see them represent.

It happened last night on the Jones goal. Both guys followed Bedard when he crossed behind Jones.
Jones had the puck and just skated right down to the top of the circle and ripped one into the net.

Is that rink tiny? The broadcast they doesn't show more than 5-6 rows up. The "crowd shots" are of the same 30 people.

Maybe he would be producing at that level, but also his opportunities would be less. He would not always be the first one deployed in the offensive zone and he would probably be held more accountable for his 2-way play. He probably wouldn't always be first PowerPlay unit and he wouldn't be a lock for first line, probably playing more like 17-18 minutes a night than 20.
Maybe he would get there, but he wouldn't be "the guy" for a team like that, he would be "one of the guys" and in some cases players (especially young players) end up scoring less. It could be that he'd have a few more 5v5 points and less powerplay points. |

I think this also ties into the recent trend of people pointing out that Bedard doesn't draw a lot of penalties. I think that comes down to defenders not having to cross the line too much to cancel him out at this point. He is more easily pushed, he isn't creating too much separation or putting them on their heels. I think it will come in time, but right now, he does still have more physical maturing to do.
I think this is one area where someone like Kane was more successful early on, he was more slippery, would dodge contact more and move his feet quicker. Of course, when someone had young Kane lined up, he had some instances of using his stick defensively up high a few times, but overall, he was harder to nail down. |
