Don't know what the outcome of this game will be but it's so nice not to see Seth jones coasting around and not having his hockey blade on the ice in his own end.

Is it just me or does the squad look to have more jump, hunger, urgency, activity, vibe without Jones? .............. I'd add I just love when a Kaiser, Del Mastro, Crevier, Allan play but when two rookies have been paired most every time they get caved with crazy long shifts in their own end. Up until the 3rd period up 4-1 we haven't seen that..

That was my #1 thing to watch for with the Jones trade. Almost inevitable two rookie Dmen would see shifts together and so far so good. .... I think the kids know this is different now that Jones is gone and I think so far so good.

Of any game this yr I wanted a win tonight. This will be huge for the locker room. ......... Wonderful start to the "Knight era" minus Jones with 3 rookie Dmen dressed.

Ottawa next and they play a fun brand of up tempo skill hockey.

Elbows said the same thing over on the other site and I think more than a few of us have had similar thoughts.

Gotta love it. Knight comes in and has himself a game and gets #1 Star of the game.

I honestly felt like the Blackhawks played better as a team before Seth jones came back from injury. I was pissed Anders just gave him all his minutes back.

Funny they win 2 in a row once they traded Jones. Knight had an incredible 1st period, but i think Seth is a 9 to 5 hockey player. I also think he has another issue but i have no proof, i just didn't understand at times he would fall a lot during some hockey games with no contact and have his head up his ass in those same games.

Good riddance he's gone

I refuse to answer until the game ends.

OK, now I'll say it. Obviously, I like him. He might be the most efficient goalie the Hawks have ever had (or at least it looks that way). It's like he just pivots and is in position, there's very little movement.

If that's the case, how much do you think Bertuzzi is drinking?

Not only that, the rebound control in this game was outstanding.

If Knight realizes his potential it’s a win/win. Jones doesn’t have to be the main guy down there and his $7M cap hit isn’t as onerous.

Plus the Hawks get another 1st. Maybe removing Seth from the room is a net positive as you suggested too.

- HawkintheD

The minute I saw the trade of course I got greedy thinking we could have both Knight and Hrabal in the system. ......... But getting Knight sure does soften the blow and I'd add I watched Gajan with GB in the USHL and very much like him as a prospect.

Super duper athletic (of which he counts on too much) but was drafted in his draft +1 yr. Kid is super raw but he's no doubt an intriguing prospect who was the first goalie off the board and the club has the advantage of not rushing him at all.

Welcome to the first goalie win of the Spencer Knight era. We were outplayed, but he came up big early and the Hawks pounced on their chances.

It's almost like all the other D were just sort of intimidated by Jones. They all look a lot more aggressive and playing calm and fast. After watching him the last few games that Kaiser played in Rockford, I was worried about him. It looked like he was checking out, but kudos to him.

Elephant in the room, Bedard is driving the struggle bus. Don't know what is going on with him right now. He's trying to do so much.

Now the team needs a couple of 22-25 year old forwards and then start filtering in the prospects. Offer sheet Knies, Peterka or MacTavish.
- paulr

Just like the acquisition of Knight out of nowhere I'd like to think KD has targets he's eying. Hoping he figures out a way to get a Knies/McTavish type top 6 young forward.

I'd assume he patiently and diligently waiting for that opportunity.

I still can't believe Florida made this deal with us, now i really get to enjoy Blackhawk hockey even if Brodie plays, hahaha

What a nice hockey game by the boys after the first 15 minutes of the game. Unfortunately we will probably have a better record than Nashville by years end, but it's all worth it now that #4 is in Florida.

Really like how relentless Nazar plays.

I don't know if they can play on same line, but him and Moore on the same line will be a forechecking nightmare for opponents

- vabeachbear

His tenacity along with his ++speed makes Nazar a danger in all 3 zones and he has the skill in his hands to capitalize on that speed/hunger.... He looks more and more comfortable.

That’s why it’s imperative to trade Bedard before he gets a new contract.

- paulr

Don't know but it seems offer sheeting is becoming more acceptable, at least it seems that way......... Like you posted, you can't just build thru the draft. Gonna need to bring in free agents to fill needs, trades and acquiring international free agents.

But if you're gonna go that route Kniess is a fantastic start. Thick strong hungry kid who can play at speed with quick hands in tight around the grade a areas.

Yeah he’s not a KK fan.

If the Hawks luck out and draft Schaefer one of the defensive prospects is probably moved. I’m sure Elbows is hoping it’s Korbustsky.
