McCabe - $2m
Rantanen - $4.625m
Bailey - $1.17m
AA - $3.1m
Brossoit(?) - $3.3m

We're looking at ~$11m-$14m coming off the books next year for guys that had zero impact on the Hawks this season. A combined 1 point this year between the 5 players.

Donato re-signing and a true top-six addition can happen quite simply for just that cost alone to put into perspective how much space we have.

Anders will go back down and be the Hogs coach again. It's why Eaton is there right now.
- Chunk

I don't think our next coach will be carrying along King again as well.

Jake Walman was traded with a 2nd by Detroit to San Jose for future considerations last summer. He was traded by San Jose to the Oilers for a 1st yesterday.

Yeah, I think that move was questioned by a number of people when it happened (Yzerman basically letting him go for nothing when he didn’t have to).

Yzerman knew exactly what he was doing. He’s just a few steps ahead of you or anyone here for that matter.

It looks like the Blackhawks don't move and will have the Panthers 2026 1st round pick

With the points bread made I think the Hawks are getting better. Goaltending is set, defense is pretty good. They need to bolster the forwards. I expect them to challenge for a playoff spot next year.

Beyond reproach even though he’s in actual year 5+ of his rebuild vs some of the shaky math some of the posters here keep putting forward for KFC.

As per my post the day after we received Travis Knight, Mrazek to Detroit. Shocking that we actually got a player back (even giving up Smith too).
We moved Smith that opened up a slot for a younger player.
Kept Donato, who I hope they try to re-sign at a reasonable number for reasonable term.

What's a Travis Knight?

I have to say with the salary cap going up teams were throwing those 1st round picks around freely.

So the playoff team winner of making a ton of moves and only getting worse goes to ......... Carolina Hurricanes, hahaha

Ummm why not? He didn’t say make the playoffs.

Let’s see what they do in the offseason but I don’t think it’s unreasonable for them to be playing meaningful games this time next year if they add a couple higher end fwds.

Article about Soderstrom last July

https://thehockeywriters....n-air-offseason-prolongs/

- LAHawk

Very helpful, LA........... The synopsis given of Soderstom reads like his EP page except I'd take issue with the lack of production. Kid was playing SHL when drafted at 18 and never played as jrs game since besides WJC's. Been a pro since 18 and he ain't far off a PPG in the SHL this yr.

Now, why he couldn't crack a PHX blueline I guess is the swing KD is taking but his resume fits big time for me.

I just think their defense is still a bit green with their goalies. I think realistically I'm hoping for hockey 500 record, 80 to 85 points.

Last 2 years we were pinned in our own end so much, this year its not so lopsided, next year i want to see us be even better in possession.

And as bread said more goals for and less goals against.

Seravalli said something interesting the other day when asked about the team’s improvement, if any.

He basically talked about all the young guys getting playing time and how that might not play out in wins and standings this season but eventually will.

Don’t you dare look cockeyed at Stevie Y ok pal!

Yeah, kind of underwhelming. Wondering if they think Mrazek is a better option to back up Talbot than Lyon. They are right there for a playoff spot. I’m split on whether I want to see them get in and swept or just miss making it.🤔

The most valuable thing in all of hockey is NHL ice time. For the most part I think the Hawks used it wisely so far this yr.

Sorry. I had a bad knight. Spencer Knight of course.

Actually Travis Knight was an NBA center.

Don’t disagree. KFC signed all these guys to give his young guys time to develop. I guess what he miscalculated on was some of the prospects were more ready than he thought. It’s still not horrible though.

They weren’t going anywhere and when the young dmen came up and hit a wall he could send them back down.

Nazar may have been ready to start the year here but they sent him and Slaggert to the A to make sure and that’s not a bad plan after watching Reichel having issues with consistency.

How are you feeling today if you are a Detroit fan? You added a decent 4th liner and now have three goalies (two locked in for next year). I get that they are on the outside looking in at a PO spot right now, but this move doesn't really help in any way at all does it?

Its amazing how many times when you turn in front of your own net as opposed to staying outside mistakes turn into goals..................

That's something these kids need to get out of their system, the cute little no look backhand pass in their own zone, i wish Nazar would shelve that play for now

Knight going to have to save them, they look lost.

Kurashev needs the Reichel treatment from coach
