I think that's right - granted I don't watch a lot of games now- but I don't really see Bedard opening frustrated after missing a shot or someone wide open, or something decidedly crappy happening like even a few months ago.

His headspace seems to be probably, as was observed, seeing the light at the end of the tunnel, and the vision from how things are being built. I guess time will tell if that's accurate or not.

Why do some people think Bedard is so fragile mentally? He WAS the Regina Pats, and they were bad except for him. He has been through this before and I'm pretty sure he can see the light at the end of the tunnel with the Blackhawks.
- wizardofi

Cause it’s easier for some posters to project their feelings of frustration with the team on to him?

They've brought a few younger players up at forward and if I had to guess he was all smiles when they acquired Knight. Bedard may have been the one to drive Jones to O’Hare and not Elbows as I originally theorized.

Anyway, like you say, pretty sure he can see the plan starting to come together.

This is why I worry about 98.

Pretty sure 90% of this board are bots. Flare up on a whims nitice.....jump 4 pages.

Unless Elbows is writing his agent thesis on Murphy it's relatively quiet.

JV World team captain of the world. He deserves better. Not an awful player but can't sniff Hammers jack, so best he finds a 3-5 slot team. Loved Gord Murphy #TheWhale

LOL. Pot meet kettle.

Why do people continue to throw out this idea that Murphy was acquired for the 2013 version of Hjalmarsson? Could Stanbo have gotten more for Nik? Maybe, but the version of him they traded in 2017 just wasn’t the same player.

Agree and have made this point in the past.

Its not like he's the first overall pick to go to a bad or rebuilding team

I do think it helps to have some other youngsters around him though so he sees that light.

Nazar, Dach, Vlasic, EDM, and i really think Knight will help on that front. Part of the not trading Donato thing is probably along this line of thinking also. As soon as he's playing with 10 others in his age group, the light at the end of the tunnel will be much brighter and not an oncoming train.

I’m still not a huge Crevier fan, but I can admit he’s notably netter than last year. They need to get him away from Vlasic though.

Same. Floats and skates in circles when tryna find the puck up ice if you watch him in person. Maybe it’s cause he’s a giraffe.

From Bleacher Nation this am…

The Blackhawks lost in overtime last night, but there is still a lot to take away and like from their recent stretch of games. The Hawks now have a five-game point streak as a team, which is the organization’s longest since they won five straight games between Feb. 17-25 in 2023.

He's one of the reasons i don't miss Seth Jones. I honestly can say i think the defense is at least the same.

And yea again i agree with Elbows, he's using his body in his own end to try to separate guys from the puck and with some success.

I have to also say Colton Dach may be a keeper, a thing I've been noticing with him is he's physical but when he's along the boards he wins his fair share of 50 50 pucks, more so then our vets.

I read that article this am, i know i had some criticism for Nazar, but shout out to him for this stat

In Frank Nazar's 32:33 of shorthanded ice time this season, the Blackhawks have allowed just one goal. That's less than 2.00 goals/60 — on a team that has allowed 2.98 goals/60 at *even strength*.

That's outstanding

I’d give him some more runway. He’s progressed quite a bit from last season to this one. Would like to see what another offseason produces. Plus other than Murphy and possibly Lev next season he’s your only other natural RHD.

Think he was credited with 5 hits and a couple blocks last night. Had a goal wiped out.

They won in OT last night.

2-6 in OT and 1-2 in shootouts.

That's 3-8 and bad.

It's crazy to think Bowman was so bad at drafting defenseman for so long and now that he's gone, the ones he did draft in the past couple of seasons with the Blackhawks are hitting like this. I sure hope whoever that person or persons is/are is still with the Blackhawks.

That's crazy good

We are 1 goal away from scoring as many goals as we did last season.

Man that team was bad.

Really liking Del Mastro. Even if Korchinski starts out with the team next season, gotta think EDM is one of your other LHD, with Vlasic (obvs).

Will be interesting if they win the lottery and take Schafer.

Totally agree. Ever since that trade was made though I think people felt we were trading Hammer in his prime but he had already begun to decline.

In reality and with the obvious benefit of hindsight Stan should’ve started gutting the team to retool/rebuild after the 2015 or 2016 season but I think that wouldn’t have gone over so well with most fans.

name one person who doesn't want a top UFA signed?

I'd ask you to sit that one out....

- SteveRain

So because the UFAs you suggest I have some reservations about because of their age, how effective they will be when the team is ready to compete, how signing an older free agent potentially risks how KD is trying to rebuild the team means I want the team to be ten years away from competing?

Does that mean your, going all in fanboy approach and not factoring in anything but how to try to get Bedard to win a scoring championship in the next couple of years means you don’t care about a championship at all?

Remember Steve when the Hawks were winning championships and I was happy while you were female doging about everything from them not being big, not having a good face off percentage, not being physical? Yeah I remember them too.

They're still getting out shot by crazy amounts. The puck spends too much time in the wrong end difficult to win. Impossible to win over an entire season.

Maybe just a glitch, but Arty is listed on the Blackhawks roster on NHL.com

No official announcement and nothing listed on the AHL transaction page. Probably nothing, but who knows.

Yeah, they're getting buried most nights. They are relying on good goaltending which they are getting, but they need to figure out how to play a better team game.

This is why I'm 99.999999999% sure Anders isn't going to be the coach. Even if they win games down the stretch, you can't look at the performance and think it is sustainable. KD certainly could pull some stupid poop out of a hat and bring him back, but I think he knows this team needs better.

Interesting, that is one of 4 call ups allowed until the end of the season. Unless there was an injury? Martinez possibly?
