Be a shame if Hawks had a lot more cap space then all the other teams this offseason

The cap stalling would actually benefit the Hawks, it would facilitate trading for a RFA, or even an offer sheet.

Salary cap in danger of stalling .Trump !! . Real glad we got rid of Jones now ,although that 2,5 mil may lock a little bigger in the rear view mirror . Still got that 1st .
- oldduffman

But but but they keep saying how it's going up, so glad Jones is gone and its great teams were giving away 1st round picks assuming the league knows what their talking about.

How many times have i heard this, tsk tsk tsk for any GM buying it.

I said it too when they began talking about "huge" increases. "I'll believe it when I see it."

Kaiser - been pretty impressive lately, especially his skating
- glennjpawlak22

Been to a couple games since he came back up and I know it's not on camera too often, but Kaiser doesn't sit much when on the bench now and is constantly chomping at the bit to get back on the ice every shift and when he does he flies off the bench immediately into the action wherever it is. He did not do that before and was simply a good soldier shuffling down the bench line throughout the game and when he changed he'd try to figure out where to be/go just before hopping over. Seems elementary but either way he's locked in lately and very noticeable most games.

Certain players stand out not because of their skill but because of the passion and effort they play with. To me Kaiser is that guy. I’m not trying to diminish his skills I think his skills are good even if he needs some work in areas but I love how hard he plays, how he gets his nose in everyone’s business. I think he’ll be a fan favorite.

I think Bedard’s unpredictable style of play requires cohesion with his linemates who can try to understand how Bedard plays. Constantly changing his wingers is counter productive. I’d like to see Sorensen keep his line together for a number of games to see if they can gel.

I agree with the majority of the things you have stated in your latest posts.
I think we all have got our Bedard projection hats on since he arrived.

I expected the league wide hype.
The kid lives to play hockey, and like all of us, likes to win.

I am not sure if we have unlocked his true personality yet, as we see a patient off-ice polite kid who has handled all the BS off the ice.

I am not one to judge how he transforms from junior gem to NHLer.

Oh, I do worry...wondering stupid things like how Marcel Dionne overcame the height-length issues in a by-gone era.

But, I do not think Bedard's elite shooting skills will ever be an issue.

I totally agree that in every one of hos NHL games, I too feel like the line-mates get him the puck at what seems inopportune times, as if as you said, they have no idea what he is thinking where he wants to be to set up the attack.

I know some plays are set, but lots of moving attack pieces has been the standard set in the NHL, and I see the concern.

That recent interview with Bedsy talking about growing with the influx of Hawk youth and how they would look back and "laugh" at the way they team stunk.

That tells us a bit more about him at least not being totally frustrated about NOW.

The more quickness the hawks add all around and those youthful adds learning the defensive side will only Bedard's chances of reaching whatever potential he has.

Remember this board as Adam Boqvist crashed and burned, and the "We should have taken Zegras!" while the little guy in Montreal continues to score goals despite his inabiilty to be a defensive stallwart.

If we get a small elite scorer out of willing the lottery, it seems like a win, so keep building with good attackers.

I cannot predict or compare bedard at this point, too difficult a projection as to where he fits as a player on a contending team when he is 26 or 27.

I can say the same for Korchinski in the Rock, i watched them the other night again and he's playing at full speed, i like how he's directing traffic of his team mates, wants the puck on his stick, willing to take a hit to make a play. It's interesting to see the same similarities from the NHL and AHL teams, the opponent seems to score on either confusion by the defensive forward or not having a forward back in time.

Not sure about real NHL GMs, but many many mocks now have Hagens falling to #4, Hawks could do much worse than Hagens after a max lottery fall down of 2 spots.

I have never seen Misa play, just a few highlights, but he seems a little straight up and down of a player to me, that is he is very upright, every highlight of him i see i can't help but think a NHL'er is going to break him in half

Very possible but just can’t see Hagens dropping past #3. He’s that talented. Putting up big numbers as a freshman on a very solid BC team and played very well in the WJC tourney. We shall see good sir.

Yeah, Hagens is the real deal but not a large human.

More quick hands arewhat the hawks need but are we going to be in the road for Lord Stanley's Cup with Roman Kantserov, Bedsy, and possibly Lardis AND Hagens??????
James Hagens gets all of my love as someone who can help change a team, as he provides the impact shift after shioft, very similar in style to NJ first rounder Nico Hischier (who is 6' 0.5 in height.)a smart two way prowess and great feet, and an outstanding stick.
The team taht gets himwill not be disappointed.

I don't think any can question Kaisers passion or effort. He is a good skater and will battle his hardest. I wish he wouldn't handle the puck like a hand grenade so often.

Another nice game by him. I know Chunk says plus and minus isn't a great metric, but i have to say watching him play and seeing him not be a minus in the last 10 games, well i can see why, he looks like he's getting a real good feel for playing without the puck in his own zone.

Take either .He is a lefty , and knows how to throw them . Hits , and can score . I would give him 8.5 to 9 mil to be our power forward of the future . hard to find type of player .
If the cap is stagnant Leaf's may be in a bind . I think I rather him then Marner .Maybe

If Davidson decides to go the route of offersheeting an rfa, what players realistically could the Hawks target. Knies rossi are obvious but would have target teams that up against the cap. So what other RFA's would make sense?

The cap is based on previous year’s revenues, so any tariff issues do not effect next years cap.

A new collective bargaining agreement needs to be agreed to after next season. Negotiations are starting soon. Although the league and players association have agreed to what the cap will be for the next 3 seasons, IMO Bettman is using the tariff issue as a negotiating tool.

Weaker oil prices and Bank of Canada interest rates being significantly lower than the fed have a much greater influence on the CAD-USD exchange rate than any fluctuation (which would be temporary) caused by increased tariffs.

While I’d rather not see him on the ice for the Hawks, I have to give credit to Maroon, he accomplished a lot in the NHL with his limited talent. Congratulations #77! Now take a seat for the kiddies.
