Bet you're pretty happy to see your favorite hockey blogger Pronman eat crow this morning via the piece from Powers on Nazar's NHL success thus far?!
- Assman22

The differnce in Scott Wheeler and Pronmoan is a strikingly contrast
t, probably why they have two beat writers on the same areas.

Scott has spent years passionately doing this starting with many smaller websites, then as the big anchor with Future Considerations.
Throughout attempting to guess our way to success after watching the kids, he has always proclaimed his favorites, and even when the didn't "pro-out" they way their amateur game seemed to project, he has never been one to stubbornly hold to his earlier opinions, and says he was incorrect.
I know a perfect personal example with me (and a defender Paul saw regularly night after night, Ben Danford), who the Leafs selected in the late first last yr.
As far as I was concerned, this kid had to stare down and make sure he saw where the puck was on his blade a lot more than any kid I saw, and knew he had the leanings of a physical defender, but STILL to this morning do not get how he is a first rounder, or would have been a second or even third rounder based on what I saw. Sure Wheeler Wiz and Pronman can go dark on prospects, but when they start improving game, and provong the critic wrong, you have to let up and acknowledge (which hasn't happen for Danford and me).

My issues with Pronman are how he spends a lot of time interview/talking to scouts, and after he sets his order, his idea of whose in a tier, he is stubborn and will in interviews, questions, NOT acknowledge your OPINIONS and refuse to even attempt to see why YOU see your guy there in his holy tier.

I just remember a few years ago he added to his mock, Dominik Bokk,a kid playing for Xäxjö to even higher than the reach by the St Louis Blues to take him LATE in the first.

I had watched enough of Bokk to know despite his size and skill, he made a point of not non-contact and shied away from giving more than tittybumps as forechecks.
He wasn't going to dominate based on he fact the NHL scorers get tough from their wall battles (that is why Bedsy is jumping in them).

I tried to simply point out that on the Athletic and he was too pigheaded to see any of it.

I actually have trouble finding any consortitum Corey he was ever in on a website, where he tossed his opinions in the mix with others to debate. (Granted, I know it oisn't easy to get a forum; I was lucky to be able to run that Hockey Futures Blackhawk prospects site before the Hawks had a Seabrook and Keith.)

Corey well sorta had his own on line lectern and that continues at the Athletic, spending time trying to make all these lists.
I don't know about you but I don't care who the best wingers between 25-29 are ranked by him.
There is simply noi comparison of Wheeler who has an eye and passion to Pronman who depends upon a lot of outside sources he questions.
That said, there is place for all.

I wish him well, but a lot of you read my Nazar evaluation before his draft.

I was point on, and Corey had a notebook about size speed but didn't see the way he played in junior.
I think when he watched Michigan while Adam Fantilli was there,Corey "formed" his opinion.
Not with the canvass of little frankie in junior.

This was a line from Dietz in an article he wrote the other day:

The Blackhawks aren't going to go into next season with six defensemen who are 24 or younger. At least they better not.

I hope he is wrong.

Other than Murphy, you've got Vlasic...two veterans on your top two pairings.

- captainserious

I really think the backline speed is improved, and are we looking to not be in the lottery?
They would have to have signed Marner, as a start before there is some change in the current philosphy and they grab more veteran backliners AGAIN.
(You already have to buy out or KEEP Brodie!)

Hahaha, nah I'm sitting this out for a while, it's going to get worse which is what i expect, waiting to hear when Warren makes his move.

I have a few years before i have to start withdrawing from my 401k so all good there.

I do hope they trade for a young top 6 forward.

- BetweenTheDots

I agree but I'm not looking for any Jokiharju Nylander trades which is what most of our young D will bring. I want a real player.

On defense anyone not named Vlasic, Rinzel or Levshunov which opens the door for EDM or KK.

You think he hit Donato on purpose? I assumed it was just a misfire, that he hit him. It would be interesting if anyone asked Bedard about that shot.

I agree with you about speed. I feel like Bedard while very skilled, he hasn't been hard to contain. I think back to Patrick Kane, and how he would have defenders really on their heels. They were afraid he would make them look silly and he would back them off, it would make more room for himself. Bedard has not quite managed to do that yet on a regular basis. If he can maybe attack with a bit more north south speed, he might even draw a few more penalties in the process and then start to back them off. I dunno, I could be wrong, but just my feeling.

I agree with you about Bedard. I feel confident he will figure it out. I think someone needs to tell him he’s gotta get on his horse more often. When Bedard puts his head down and tries he has some decent speed.

Maybe even fire a few puck early in goal to defenders a bit off balance. He’s got the tools he just needs to figure out how to keep defenders guessing and off balance. A lot of his zone entries right now are predictable.

I think he was maybe shooting for his stick but it sure looked like he was trying to bank it off him. He looked in that direction. Maybe just shooting for a rebound.

I think that depends, if the team you are dealing with is trying to shed salary, you might find them willing to part with a more established player, but the "game breaker" type impactful players will likely come from the draft. You don't often get them via trade unless you are trading the same.

And that's why they need to just keep developing them as long as they can. If they can spot defensive talent like this, i would be very optimistic of my forward talent that hasn't arrived yet.

I know I'm very optimistic of Nazar right now, and I'm really impressed with what the kids are doing in their respected leagues.

and there shoulkd be a shout out to ND winger Landon Slaggert has put his foot to the pedal and not looked back. He is a great example to Moore on how you can make a line-up, by being a gamer with your feet and the REST....

Every year NHL youngster don't like their roles on teams, feel they haven't been used well, or simply resent the situations.

Some of these youngsters have validity to their situations.

Remember how Hayes was discouraghed enough by the Hawk championship depth that he declared his free agency (and Brock Nelson, pick side by side simply went to the Island and made a career of it, until his current Avs role.

You have to think challenging teams will have a few kids noit interested in say coming to the AHL from say Sweden, and wait until there is a opening.

These guys like Pittsburgh acquistion Ville Koivunen may not be robust big bodied kids, but they got some jame to go with the touch.

So, the Hawk surplus couldbe tarded, but I am not seeing giving up on any of them until there close to expiration dates...and do the Hawks need more "developing" FORWARDs?

to me any prospet departures are going to be coming when a true NHL guy is ready for the trade elsewhere, whether his team is looking for a change or he is.

I mean a new coach knows there is a youth movement and what's a better way to start it but by playing them ALL?

As far as Luke Richardson might have been a better coach with the dee kiddie corp now on site, but I am not sure how his tenure left any idea that they are going to bring as much movement as they can as Bedsy grows.

I would love to know what he likes-dislikes about teh current situation besides the losing...surely he was purposefiully surrounded by real honest veteran players and much experience has been on display.

Just I am not sure how if I were the next coach how I handle Arty and the backline jets...and play a winning system where the front liners grow expontially along with them.
I think like all here that it seems like a stretch tah the TBay coach has a year left and is not leaving, and we also now he isn't going to agree to carry the Hawk staff behind the bench.
I like Sorenson enough that I want him to be an asset for out kids.

But I bet whomever they hire, they will ask him to keep a significant part of the current coaching staff.
