Have to attack guys one on one too. Maybe he lost some confidence?? b/c last year he would attack 3 on 1 all the time.

This year he often chooses not to attack even when it’s one on one.

He also better be watching the 37 year HOF on the otherside and get his butt into the gym and become stronger and more explosive.

Crosby faster and more explosive at 37.

It wasn't their best game. I love the way Rinzel plays. He attacks in the offensive zone. They need to learn how to possess the puck. Pittsburg owned them tonight. Maybe throw a check or two. I watched more of the Cub game after it became 2-0.

Jarry had a great game, and that wore on them over the course of the game. Even so, watching Nazar and Rinzel gave me more hope for the future.

If Donato is that frustrated, does he sign elsewhere this summer, even if the Hawks offered him more money? It was right for KD to hold out for a good return at the deadline, but it would still suck to see him walk for nothing.

The outcome sucked but i really enjoy seeing the kids out there. There is so much untapped potential in these kiddies.

If you watch the Rockford games last night reminded me so much of one of those games early in the season.

As these kiddies get older eventually they will earn the right to draw penalties but for now we just wait for whatever that magic age is in the referee hand book.

Same song out of the Hawks locker room by the coach & some vets. "As a team that’s young and inexperienced, the more the simple you play, you create more offense." Same message for years...Who would be the player that now violates the "let's keep it simple" rule the most?

Idk…it’s the end of a season where I don’t think most thought it would at least look a little bit better in the standings. It hasn’t so frustration sets in.

Pretty sure the guy you’re quoting is Donato who for the most part keeps his game pretty simple.

I know you’re quoting Al and if he can’t start to at least envision a path to eventual success, Idk what to tell him. The team that started this season vs the one that ends this one and starts the next are and will be different.

Rinzel and Lev are going to be fun. Man Lev reminds be of Brent Burns. Just cruising all over the ice and has the skating to get back into position and defend. Also a big guy with a nasty streak.

Even at 19, I think Lev realizes there are only a handful of guys in the NHL he can't keep up with skating wise. Just shows no fear on the ice. I have no doubt he will learn to handle/defend the elite skaters of the NHL.

The thing is, the Hawks have created more offense too. The rebuild took a step forward. As a team that had a lot of spare parts last season that only managed 178 goals, they've pushed that to 208 so far this season. Probably another 5-10 goals left in these last 4 games to push it to a 35-40 goal improvement year over year from the offense.

Under Sorensen, they've scored at a 229 goal pace over 82 games, which is about a 50 goal pace improvement over last season. The is respectable offensive production, getting into the pack.

Obviously the teams needs to keep building on it and find ways to stem the flow better defensively, but it's a process. The likely addition of a new HC probably helps the team add a bit more effective structure and as our young D and players learn to assert themselves, catch up physically (filling out) they will become harder to play against.

I think Lev falls into that "keep it simple" way of thinking that can be effective. He has some things to work out, some chemistry to build but in general, especially in the offensive end, it's simple. He shoots the puck, often and from nearly anywhere.

In general the D is starting to become a group that can skate with and without the puck. Lev, Rinzel, Kaiser, KK, Vlasic, while all a bit different can all get up the ice with the puck on their stick. They could really start to hold their own in transition and should be tough to beat in races to the pucks on dump ins.

If you follow Al, his theme is that the Hawks coaching at both the NHL level and at Rockford have been substandard since Q left.

His thing is that the Hawks have not proven they can develop young talent, so it doesn't matter how good your talent coming in, if you can't develop your pllayers.

I agree with JC, but development? Vlasic, EDM, Allan, Slaggert? Nazar might look like something. Personally i think he's impatient and frustrated. If he can't see the potential talent on the ice right now, i don't know what to say.

Let's throw Kaiser and Crevier in there as well

He has no issue with the potential of the player’s, he has an issue with who is in charge with developing that potential, coaches, assistant coaches, hockey development people etc.

I guess at least he likes our scouting department since he sees potential i guess KD cleared that hurdle

So he has an issue with KD but likes his draft picks?

Whatever

The Blackhawks were void any talent and finally they now have talent, so now he's concerned about how they are being developed, but we saw how Vlasic, Slaggert, Kaiser and others have been developing, i would love to know what he would do different.

Didn't the defensive coach develop Boston defenseman?

Isn't Jimmy Waite the best goalie coach in the league?

Aren't they hiring a new head coach, he obviously doesn't understand that's how rebuilds work, when the Cubs were ready for the next step they hired Maddon, the 2nd time around they hired Counsel. When the Bears were ready they hired Johnson.

If fans and media members can't get excited with seeing Arty, Rinzel, Nazar, Knight, Bedard even KK, EDM, Vlasic then i don't know what to say, there's so much talent oozing out of them, it's just a matter of becoming a pro and learning the ways of the NHL.

Should he get credit for reviving Mrazek's career? Even Soderbloom's improvement this year?

No Soderblom, he said he went back to Sweden and worked on what worked for him before. Mrazek? He was the same goalie he was before.

Last goalie the Hawks developed was Crawford, and that was his brother Stephane.

He has been the Hawks goalie coach for about 10 years, so you can consider anything in that span on the NHL roster up and down as his coaching.

So you're saying Waite had zero influence on Soda, you really are grasping at straws, i forget it's all our nothing for you

Every year i hear you guys blather on about how our goalie situation sucks and remarkably a goalie steps up and has a good season. I don't buy that it's luck i believe there's some coaching involved here

Also let me know the last time the Blackhawks had a top prospect goalie in the pipeline? Commesso and then................... Crawford
