I was thinking the same but other teams I like how they play are Winnipeg and Florida. They’re like locusts on the puck, they don’t stop. And if you get physical with their players you know someone is going to be on you.
- paulr

The defense as constructed must be the biggest defense in the league. As they get stronger we're going to wake up one day and teams will simply be unable to cross center ice against us. That's my dream.

Looking forward without speculating on trades, FA signings, and without resigning Donato.

Full time Hawks - (12)
Forwards - Bertuzzi, Teravainen, Foligno, D!ckinson, Mikheyev, Veleno, Nazar, Bedard
Dmen - Vlasic, Murphy
Goalies - Knight, Broissoit**

Players who could be riding the Rockford Shuttle (17)
Forwards - Reichel, Greene, Moore, Slaggert, Dach, Lardis, Vanacker, Spellacy, Ludwinski, Anderson,
Dmen - Levshunov, Rinzel, Korchinski, Del Mastro, Nolan, Soderstrom,
Goalies - Commesso

Possible re-signees (5)
Forwards - Donato, (Guttman with intention of him being a veteran at Rockford)
Dmen - Kaiser, Crevier
Goalies - Soderblom

** obviously Brossoit is a total wild card.

Many might think Levshunov and maybe Rinzel and Slaggert are a lock to stay with the big club all season. They could be. But I could see that if their confidence is shaken they could be sent down for a recharge. A little more time in Rockford would not hurt them. There also will be plenty of competition next season, and this does not take into consideration FA signings.

- Ztra

Would Soderblom take 2x$2M to know he's going to be an NHL goalie?

Not sure they’ll add a big FA this offseason as the market’s pretty thin but Kaprisov and Necas are UFA next summer. Both would fit nicely in the scheme.

For the most part I agree, but Carle's background is a little different. So he might be the exception.

I think the Hawks have to look at head coaches and assistant coaches and their support staff at the NHL and AHL level. It seems like there is room for improvement. Carle might be the guy because he has successfully worked with young players. But if he is not THE GUY they could find an upgrade a couple years from now that can take them to the promised land.

I do think the contributions of Luke and Anders are underappreciated on this board.

- Ztra

While I understand the historical concern also, but I think for most coaches they need to look at as an individual case. I think the important thing is does this coach fit their vision for the team. How well does he fit with the roster.

What problem do you have with Boisvert? He along with Vanacker are the two forward prospects I’m most looking forward to seeing in a Blackhawk sweater.

Well Boisvert and EDM are developing into good players.

As i said before I'm greedy and EDM is one of my best 6 dmen developing, he's not going anywhere.

Boisvert may need to work on his skating, he even acknowledged this, but from many of the draft evaluations the one constant was he gives you everything on every shift including checking which they said is very rare to see in a prospect these days.

There always seems to be a situation that develops with a forward or forwards, i think KD just needs to sit back and let it happen.

If not then i guess he's going to have to do something through FA and wait till the trade deadline and make that happen.

If Donato wants significantly more than Alex Iafallo just got with the Jets which was 3x3.67M then the Hawks have to just let him walk. As the talent on the team improves, his role will diminish.

Even if he has risen above his typical 25-30 points, probably unlikely we see him rise above 40-45 again. I see a guy like Warren Foegele making 3.5 per year in LA or Trevor Moore his teammate at 4.2 per year. I think Donato might be somewhere in that same value.

Vanacker has already signed. I expect him to be in Brantford again next season. Boisvert will sign when the Hawks and he feel he’s ready to turn pro. Is Boisvert ready to go pro?

Maybe it's just me but there always seems a young forward ends up being on the market, especially if you have to pay them.

Honest question here;

I had moved to Florida and couldn't get Hawks games back when Keith and Seabrook came into the league.

For those of you who watched, were either as impressive as Rinzel out of the gate.

- vabeachbear

I don't think so. Seabrook was highly touted coming out of juniors. But he had issues with skating (no matter what anyone else tells ya) and needed time to adjust. Both he and Keith were in Norfolk with Yawney coaching and that worked out pretty well eventually. Rinzel would make a joke out of the AHL. I can't wait to see him in a few years when he fills out. Very impressed.

Hello, 66, hope you're well.

Hockeydb says Seabs only played three regular season games and six playoff games for Norfolk in 2005 after his junior year was over. Then it was Chicago only.

If Mitch isn't interested, wait until the next summer.

I am noit a gambling man, but I will bet if they do get Misa, he plays at least 9 games, because he is such a perfect addition/compliment to the front line here.

I am glad I did my post about the top of the draft before Corey Pronman put his guesses today.

But his "inability to figure this draft out" exposes him a lot, imo, having Frondell sitting in front of Brantford's Jake O'Brien and Roger McQueen's potenial as a physical first line impact player in the Bigs.
And it is difficult for me to deny Eklund's quickness, becasue he will go quickly too, depsite the negatives.

Sure happy we are selecting in this top four, because it is difficult to see the Blackhawks not getting a superior player this June 28th.

Seems worth taking a chance on. 24 at the start of next year. Couple of good years at WMU. Could at least fill in until Gajan is ready.

Would still like to see them take a goalie fairly high in the draft and keep the pipeline going.

Regarding Boisvert, it depends which scribe you believe. KD has not said likely because he wants to appear in step with Boisvert.
