I left out Boeser the other day. He should be in the conversation.

UFA's
Name, age next year, GP, Pts in 24/25 season, PPG, expiring contract cap hit

Marner, 28, 80, 100, 1.25, $10.9 mil - maybe too expensive

Duchene, 34, 81, 81, 1.00, $3 mil - still great speed and skill, nice on short term deal

Tavares, 34, 74, 74, 1.00, $11 mil - may resign with Toronto - slow for Hawks model

Granlund, 33, 52, 45, 0.87, $5 mil - could work on short term deal

Ehlers, 29, 69, 63, 0.91, $6 mil - might be a good fit

Donato, 29, 80, 62, 0.78, $2 mil - 4 x $4 mil +/- might be reasonable

Kane, 36, 70, 58, 0.83, $4 mil - can't afford offense only player in Hawk model

Nelson, 33, 61, 43, 0.7, $6 mil - probably on downside of career

Bennett, 29, 76, 51, 0.67, $4.43 mil - would be a good fit

Marchand, 37, 61, 47, 0.77, $6.13 mil - old with a lot of miles - but brings attitude

Boeser, 28, 75, 50, 0.67 $6.65 mil - would be a good fit

Hmmm.......

Not that it will stop morons from talking at all, but Bedard apparently likes being in Chicago...

He was asked about the narrative that floats around the podcast circuit that he’s unhappy in Chicago and might want out at some point. Bedard’s answer was pretty clear:

“I think unless you’re in the room and around all of us I think am a pretty mild-mannered guy and if I look a little sad on the bench or something, maybe people can take it out of context, but I’ve said it so many times that I love being here and the city, the people, even before I got drafted I was embraced one of their own,” Bedard said. “It’s a special sports town and we’ve got a lot of great players coming up, great people. I don’t really look at [the rumors]. I don’t really see a whole lot of that unless someone shows me.

I just think people that know me know that I love to be here and really trust the direction we’re going. If you get the first overall pick, you’re probably not winning the cup in the next two years. So it’s an understanding of where you’re at and we’re going out there to win every game. But at the end we’re in a process of growing and learning and that’s an exciting time. And when you lose, it makes winning a lot sweeter once you get there.”

Anyone here watch a lot of Denver University games this year? Did Carle tend to shuffle lines a lot of stick with his combinations?

There is so much smoke around Carle joining the Hawks that I'm expecting it at this point.

Agree with that and I also think it’s part of why the dynasty couldn’t last. The Core was about 7 guys where ideally maybe you’d identify 5.

That and a couple Core guys really kind of wearing down before their time.

Guess that's what playing 16 extra intense games for 6 to 8 weeks extra every year does to the body.

Nazar is a really nice young hockey player. If this is the profile KD is looking for I'm really excited, he's just not a one trick pony, when he gets better at receiving and handling the puck on his back hand side he's really going to be dangerous
- BetweenTheDots

I thought he did a good job defending against McDavid this year. He looked more a two way player than any of the other forwards so far. I believe Nazar will wear a letter on this team, and not just when someone else is out of the lineup.

Davidson (per Ben Pope):

Dominic James likely to become a UFA instead of signing with the Hawks. Hawks offered him a "pretty damn good opportunity. No ill will."

Lardis will see another doctor in the next few days about his knee injury (which doesn't sound good).

Sounds like Donato wants an extra year which is the hold up. Negotiations to pick up soon.

KD says they'll be more selective with roster additions this year. (This hopefully means no Brodie/Smith signings).

Hawks want to have a HC signed much earlier in the offseason than in 2022 when Richardson was hired in mid-June. No official interviews yet.

Nick already spends far too much time in glide mode, so i wonder if this injury makes him even more tentative?

Well, he rode "glide mode" to 71 goals this year, so it doesn't seem to be that much of a negative. He spent the year working on getting to the middle of the ice more and battling better and it seems to have paid off. No sure where you see the tentativeness in his game.

Wow. Hawks are "hoping" Brossoit "might" be healthy enough to compete for a spot in camp next year.

At this point, I just feel bad for the guy.

Ovechkin just rode glide mode to 896 regular season goals not counting tonight's game. And there's been gushing about that guy all over the place all season - apparently it can work for some.

That’s what I’m worried about. He finally was giving it back via physicality and paid for it. Hit looked like outer knee so hopefully MCL rather than ACL, if not knee cap dislocation. Also why I’ve always agreed with your notion of not assuming a prospect’s performance in junior with get him all the way to the NHL.

Oshawa has been targeting him like London did. I don’t think it’s because he was giving anything back. I believe the guy that hit him got suspended for it as well.

No idea what you mean by the bolded? He was hit knee on knee by basically a freak incident. In this year’s playoffs North Bay and Oshawa targeted him with hits, hacks and slashes and after the whistle shenanigans. Lardis doesn’t play any kind of physical game, however he’s not afraid to play as evidenced by his 11 goals in 7 games in these playoffs. If he’s in a scrum he’ll push, shove and punch back and he’s always been that way. This year he’s getting more and more involved in the tough areas of the ice.

It won’t surprise me if Lardis is the fastest player in the Blackhawk organization, he is definitely top three or four. He has an above average NHL caliber shot and release already. But IMO his greatest asset is his ability to anticipate the play and be in the open to receive the puck. His weak points are his defensive game, it’s just barely adequate. He doesn’t use his speed off the rush to back off defenders nearly enough like McDavid or McKinnon. He brings no physicality. Can the Hawks afford to have a one dimensional player on the roster. Conversely can the Hawks afford to not have a guy who may prove to be an above average goal scorer?

Lardis’ hat trick against the generals a few games ago.
