It was not that bad of a hit ,sure not worth a
Playoff game .!! Saw much worse in these playoffs ,did not even get 2min . Caufield cross check to the face with blood . Just one example, of many .
And there is nothing cowardly about Hagel game .

- oldduffman

Of course it was a bad hit. Hagel hit Barkov when Barkov didn’t have possession and didn’t have control of the puck, in which case he’d have expected and prepared himself for the hit.

Man but times have changed a lot. What is this, soccer? You can see worse hits in any 90's game film from (I think - but am really no longer sure any more) the same league.

Heck, I remember when Mikita was the only guy wearing a helmet.
But I've never been a fan of the cheap shot but also am aware so much stuff is retaliation related.
I hope hockey never gets to the point of LeBron-level soccer flops!

No his feet are still on the ground when he makes contact with him

If they consider that leaving his feet then they can call that on every hockey player in the league

- BetweenTheDots

Watch the video again. Love Hagel and always have but he launched into Barkov with both feet coming off the ice well into the air. Barkov never had the puck and long after the puck was gone from the area, Hagel laid him down. Wasn’t a hockey play. He played a goon role and got a goon’s sentence, plain and simple. [/img]

Nothing more then a two minute minor for interference . Be aware of your surroundings ,especially on a NHL ice rink at playoff time . Barkov's playing ,what a joke .

That's why i posted the video his feet only left after contact, this occurs on so many checks in the league, honestly i think he was anticipating Barkovs 215 pounds coming at him, Hagel 180 lbs? WTF?

I mean Barkov should get a game for embellishment.

I don't even know if that would have rated a call for interference back in the day... but what do I know? I also don't see why they eliminated making a touch up for icings. But apparently some administrators felt that it was unnecessarily dangerous or something.

I’m very surprised, you’d think the pinnacle of coaching would be in the NHL and a college or Junior college would give his left nut to coach there? Maybe he didn’t feel it was a fit in Chicago or coaching College was best for him and his family?

I was thinking Sullivan was a FA with all the talk surrounding him, then I saw he has 2 more years left on a deal aaand Dubas apparently gave him a vote of confidence a few days ago.

Tocchet - I wouldn't mind him
Saw a tweet saying Woodcroft should be hired, and then McDavid signs with the Hawks after next season

How long have the Hunters been in London? I'm sure they've had suitors in the past. I guess some guys just really like their position/community and want to keep building to make it the best ever?

Now, if he signs with another team, we'll know a lot more won't we. From all the updates/reports I've read so far, it wasn't for a lack of trying. Sounds like they went in guns blazing to get him.

Not sure if he is officially out in VAN (they just said that they weren't going to pick up the option, not that they don't want to try and resign him). That said, it might not be a bad idea. I guess the question is what went wrong for them in VAN this year, and how much of that was in his control?

If Roy is let go, is there any interest? My preference is still Todd Nelson, but It might depend on who else would be available. Is Woodcroft an option? I don't really know much about him outside of his coaching the Oilers for about a year and a half.

The big fish are obviously Sullivan and Cooper, but they aren't really likely to be available. From what I understand, it's kind of up to Sullivan if he wants to stay or not. Dubas has indicated they are going to try and do the retool thing and likely won't be ultra competitive next year.

Gonna be fun to watch it all unfold.

Weight can be irrelevant to a hit. I’ve seen many smaller guys drop heavier players. Look up 150 lb Tyler Ennis and see some of the guys in the 200 lb range that he hammered. Ennis took some ferocious hits himself because he was so small.

As for Barkov embellishing that hit, please explain how you think that.

He is only 35, he stays at Denver, further cementing his legacy, can watch his kids grow up, and be in as much demand as a HC in the NHL in 10 years as he is now.

True. He might not feel like it's the right fit for him right now. He might also feel like Chicago isn't the right choice for him right now. Whatever the reasons are, he has his reasons and the Hawks will just move on in their search.

Q interviews with his old teammate for the HC in Anaheim. That actually seems like a really good fit considering where they are in their rebuild.

If they told him they'd choose some or all of his assistants, I can see him passing, if there were conditions put on it like that.

Man the Toronto top 5 forwards are good. Rival Hawks top 5 in their prime talent wise at least.

Think if this leafs team had a Keith Seabs type top pairing. They were lucky with Keith’s contracts avv.
