Hall reupped for 3 more years with the Canes. I'm not surprised, it's been a good fit for him. They have a decent chance to go deep.

Some other news, sounds like mutual interest between Detroit and Patrick Kane to return. I'm a bit surprised that Kane isn't looking to find a spot with a contender now that he has pretty much proven he is still capable as a 2nd line player, even if defense still isn't strong for him.

I know he likes it in Detroit, but I thought he wanted to win and that team seems stuck in mediocre. A part of me was wondering if Yzerman will still be the GM much longer.

Kane likes playing with DeBrincat.
Close to Home (less than 5 hour drive from Buffalo)
They have some cap space. (projected $21 mil)
Rated #3 in players under 24.
Has plenty of cash from past contracts.
Not far from Chicago (His wife's home town)
May not be much of a market for an offense only forward on the downside of his career.
21 goals 38 points in 72 games. Meh for a contender top 6.

I would argue there is always a market for guys with offense that can make plays like he does, he was still above 0.8 points per game. It just depends on the price/salary, but there are contenders that would take him in the top 6. He was only making 4 million right now. That's nothing for a guy who is still in striking distance to a point per game.

The Red Wings don't look like they are on the cusp of winning. They took a step back this season and are now 9 seasons without making the playoffs and it wasn't since 2013 that they actually got past the first round. Sure, they have a chance but they don't seem close to winning it all. I get that he likes it in Detroit, but it's pretty clear he isn't just interested in winning.

Now that Stan Bowman is off the market I think Yzerman is safe.
- rpeters01

The interesting thing lately with Bowman, he was back to bringing in euros to the NHL. He started bolstering the Edmonton system with some Euro pick ups just like he did in Chicago.

He'd probably fit in just fine in limited minutes as a play generator. Half of his points came on the PP this year.

I believe the majority here want to add a top six forward through free agency, however looking at the UFA’s available this year, I’m not sure that there’s one that fits their narrative. Marner is not coming to Chicago, so that leaves Boeser, and he’s not worth what he will eventually want from the Hawks. If KD acquires one, it will be via trade or an offer sheet. Toronto’s pick and a young defenseman, at the very least, will have to be in play for a 22-26 year old forward. Allan, KK, Crevier, and Kaiser should all be in play. The keepers are Artie, Rinzel, Vlasic, and EDM in my book, and there’s your top four. Obviously things change if the Hawks win the lottery.

A week before KD made the trade to move Jones for Knight and a first, I made a comment that KD has proven he can blow up the team and collect draft picks but he hasn’t shown us any hockey trades. And bang he does. Now let’s see if KD can get creative. Can he find, and trade for, a younger NHL player who hasn’t lived up to expectations? And can he figure out a way to try to get two of the top four or five picks in this draft?

On another note, say the Hawks get the number one pick on Monday. Does he choose Schaefer then flip one of Lev, Vlasic or Rinzel and something to try to acquire the number 2 or 3 pick to draft Misa or Martone? Would you try to make a deal like that?

There was a article about his son and Debrincats son being really close friends. Kane said he didn't have the heart to leave and not let the boys be close to each other. Sometimes it isn't about winning on a contender. Kane has enough hardware. He will be in Detroit.

I would not, those three defensemen should not be moved unless there’s an established good young forward coming back, not a lottery ticket.

How would that make Kevin Dean feel?

What are the chances Kevin Dean will still be here?

If Vancouver was in there ... that would be close... in terms of not happening to a better fan base --- still remember the riot they had when they dropped game 7 at home to the Bruins. Nothing like hubris meeting reality and something giving.

About the same as Anders Sorenson still being the coach, which I would say is greater than most people think.

Whether Dean is still around should not be the deciding factor on Chelios helping out the young D part-time. I’m thinking that as long as they’re aligned, it would be beneficial to the Hawks and Dean, or whoever their defensive coach ends up being.

That rivalry got really heated back in 2009 and for the next few years was the best in all of sports. That happens when you play meaningful playoff games. Not so much before and after. The riot was classic Nuckmania. However my deep hatred of the Loafs and their arrogant fans stems from the day's in the Norris division.

He’ll get consideration but if Carle was plan A, I doubt Anders is plan B given some of the other candidates out there.

That’s hilarious! “Maybe next year” has been the Leaf’s mantra for the last thirty years.

Winnepeg as well, this is the first game watching the Blues and Jets, Jets suck.

Maybe they should just bench Scheifele they look better without him

I wouldn’t be surprised to see Anders stay at the head coach. Carle isn’t an option and if Sullivan isn’t interesting the remaining options are limited. I’d be ok with Tocchet, but there aren’t many coaches available that I think are “must haves”. Keep Anders, if he works out then great, if not then keep him around until a more ideal option becomes available.

It’s entirely possible, I think game 6 will be the deciding game. If the Leafs win it’s over (obviously) but if the Sens win I think the Leafs will be shattered going into game 7.

If the Leafs lose I definitely think Marner is gone, probably Tavares too.
