Two things. Firstly, you don't have Scheafer and Misa alone in tier 1 and don't think KD does either? You posted 5-6 guys as being in KD's tier 1 of the draft.

Second, if the Hawks drop down to 5-6 in your scenario to move up later in the 1st rd highly unlikely Martone is available.

Let's say he likes Spence but has Martone and Hagens alone in tier 2 use other draft/prospect capital to move up or outright trade for the 17-20 pick to grab Spence.

But if he has Frondell and Desyorners rated with Hagens and Martone, hell yea trade down and add assets and STILL get your guy... That's just good GMing and hope he scrubs that possibility with every pick.

Yes they’re in tier 1 but irrelevant since we have pick 3 so I put them all in tier 1 and said if they feel there isn’t much difference between Hagens, Martone, Desnoyers, and Frondell then they should trade back and get whoever falls to them at #5 which could be any of those four imo. Preds have favored Hagens & Frondell according to many experts and if so, then either Martone or Desnoyers would fall to Hawks at #5.
Add Martone or Desnoyers, Spence, and Ryabkin to this pipeline and Hawks are in unbelievable shape coming out of the 1st round alone. Ryabkin is supposedly very sinilar to Demidov and we know how Kyle felt about Demidov. If they miss on Ryabkin, Ryker Lee should be there at 27.

Yea but the Tkachuk Brothers are good skaters, much more fluid than Martone, way quicker step

I am getting more on the Martone bandwagon by the day .Sounds like a difference maker ,And a player you love on your team ,and can't stand if he on the opposition .We will need some of that fire .And I believe we would regret not picking him .

Skating in different directions where Martone doesn't look like he flows as well as the Tkachuk Brothers

Then again Pat Maroon had a nice NHL career

If Misa isn’t available and the Hawks can’t trade down for him, draft Martone then try to work out a deal with Seattle for Martone’s teammate Carson Rehkopf a big 6’3 winger who skates very well, has been very productive in junior and is very physical. He was drafted in 2023 so he’s 20 now and closer to being NHL ready.

I’m not against drafting Hagens if Misa and Schaefer are taken. I’m leaning towards Desnoyers or Frondell. I’d be ok with Martone but he’s not at the top of my list.

I suspect KD will trade the pick for immediate help. Trading top 3 picks doesn’t happen often, but the Hawks are in a position to do so. KD can trade #3 to the Islanders for Barzal (both sides would add more). The Islanders get their top defenseman (Schaefer) and a local boy who could be a star and Islander for life (Hagens). The Hawks get immediate help and someone to play with Bedard.

imo I m notbgiving up the 3rd overall pick just for barzal maybe if Richie and 1st is included then might consider it but most likely no plus barzal is often injured. Maybe a trade of tage Thompson and jj perterka and the 9th for the 3rd overall pick might something to think about second line center top six winger and at 9 take Brady Martin

Not on board with that at all. Barzal is a walking ER .They better have a whole lot more coming back . I would like Martone ,so that won't happen . But steer clear of Barzal .Barzal = T hall .

After Schaefer and Misa there are a handful of guys the Hawks could take. There’s not a lot of separation between those guys.

If there’s someone Philly wants the Hawks could trade #3 and Toronto’s pick for #6 and the better of Philly’s next 2 first round picks. The Flyers would have to add something more, maybe pick #40 or #45.

Trade Chicago’s third overall for Cal Ritchie and the Islanders first (not lottery protected) In a deeper draft next year.
