Holy crap i was thinking the samething, hahaha

Ditto.
But we would never take Hamilton at $9M. At least I think we wouldn't.

He’s been compared to Bergeron and Toews in that he’s a big two way forward who brings skill and a hard edge to his game. I’ve seen him play a few times but it’s difficult to really judge him because he plays in a weaker junior league.

I see he’s listed at 6’2”(sorry, not doing centimeters)and 177 lbs on tankathon, so he has a nice frame to grow into for those looking for size. Toews played at 6’2” and 201 in his later years, not sure what he came in at. A friend of mine is willing to trade KK, Toronto’s pick and Hawks #1 to move up one spot for Misa(if he’s still on the board)says he’s that good. I’d rather trade KK and Toronto’s pick for a known commodity and keep the 3rd pick. Not suggesting that they move KK, I’m just thinking that’s a better option in my book.

I'm hoping for Martone and Spence as the two first round picks (assuming neither are traded). Adding two guys with some jackass in their games and skill to go along with it would be nice additions.

Not to open this can of worms up again, but I fully agree. If you are trading KK, and a pick, you better be getting a high end NHL player back. No way in hell do you move KK for another draft pick.

Desnoyers continues to grow on me the more I read about him and watch his highlights. He's having a nice postseason too and if he happens to excel in the Memorial Cup starting next week I think I'll firmly be in the him at #3 (behind Schaefer and Misa) no matter what.

I also really like this little tidbit I found (hat tip to The Hockey Writers blog): "With 30 points (nine goals, 21 assists) in 16 games, he not only leads the QMJHL, but has a historic 1.88 point-per-game rate. Among draft-year players with at least 10 playoff games this century, only Nathan MacKinnon, Sidney Crosby, Jonathan Drouin, and Jakub Voráček have reached 1.80 points per game—all were top-seven picks."

Pretty good company to be in.

- TommyHawk

THCrow: This is exactly why we can be happy with whomever the hawks scouting staff selects.

But before anybody reads Pronman's clap trap, read my evaluations.

https://www.lines.com/nhl/drafts/2025

I think I need one more to go up or reaarnge in slot 32, and am going on to the second rounders.

Corey is a regurgiattor. Wheeler I respect because his words are backed by his past or presnt written content, which clearly decriptive of watched game skills by the draft class.

I understand the difficulty in being ositive in projections and also honest with these youngters failings,

Yeah, he is the leader for his club, in the room and the ice.

QMJHL is a less competitive venue game in game out b/c of the talent pool, but that is less concern than the times he seems to go "no contact', and the pace drops as does his physicality.

Duuno if what I see affects NHL scouting b/c they know these kids at the top WILL improve and the skill & toolboxes already exist.

I like all top eight.

Yeah I agree that can strat to be an avenue to explore drafting, but at NUMBER overall, you gotta get a impact guy, whose going to play as a regular even if he doesn't meet star expectations.

That is the afterthought once they line up has a lot of threathening forwards who help light the lamp...

I don't think Boisvert skates like they do...that is probably why another centre grab might releagte him to a centre-wing future.

I certainly wouldn't be opposed to it, but not sure if the Hawks have anything that would interest the Sens outside of a young D-man.

From the Sens writer:
Drake Batherson trade looming?

The deadline rumors seem to be coming back, and interestingly around Batherson. While the Senators haven't explicitly stated they are actively seeking to trade him, his trade-friendly contract and potential for a change of scenery have made him an attractive option for other teams. It is the third consecutive season in which he has scored 20+ goals and recorded 60+ points. That would have extended back even another season as he finished the 2021-22 season with 17 goals and 44 points in 46 games. Batherson is also in his prime at 27 years old and has two more years left on his steal of a deal.

- Chunk

Why would they want to trade him is my question.

Ours is just to wonder why..it could be he asked, or there are team issues, or they want a upgrade (or think they have a guy to fill him spot).

Senators a true contender?

if they think, tweak the line up, he may be the trade.

Lebrun reporting that Blashill is definitely a serious candidate for the Hawks, but there are others. He thinks it's a short list and that there could be a decision/hire in the next 7-10 days.

I also just read an older review/interview of Blashill asking about his strategy. He emphasizes a strong 2-way game and insists that cheating for offense be kept to a minimum. On its face, a really good concept, but his teams in DET were some of the lowest scoring in the league. That could certainly be due to the talent left on those bare-bones Wings rosters in the late teens, early 2020's, but still to be considered.

Same or Desnoyers and Spence. Kyle will need to trade up to get Spence though.

Gary Roberts son, Sam, was drafted by the Oshawa Generals last week in the OHL draft. Gary Roberts has become the team strength training coach. Roberts would be a great replacement for Goodman.

If, by some bizarre twist the Isles take Hagens, and the Sharks takes Misa, do we take Schaefer even though we're deep at D? I think it's a no-brainer to take him. Maybe KD's got a plan for that like moving some assets for a forward or something tasty? I think there's lots of pressure on KD to pull a gem or two around draft time to make this team relevant again.

KD would have no choice, however I’m pretty sure San Jose covet him.

The Blackhawks have several prospects whose draft rights are set to expire on June 1 and are not expected to sign before then.

Those players include Victor Stjernborg, a 2021 fourth-round pick; Alex Pharand, a 2023 fourth-round pick; Marcel Marcel, a 2023 fifth-round pick; and Milton Oscarson, a 2023 sixth-round pick.

bon voyage, slackers!

So it pretty much comes down to who the Isles pick. They pick Hagens we get Misa, they pick Scheafer we get...controversy...

I doubt any of that happens, b/c SAN Jose would take him if available.

Without hesitation you select him.

Despite having Vlassic locked in (more that Glencoe would pay, even though he can play defense, not like Bouchard who still cannot, I see the defense with Rinzel and Vlasic and at this point, wannabes.
Yes, I just said being drafted #3 or #7 doesn't count; the pn ice production does.

Scahaefer is real.

He's not horse poop defensively or an exggeration as a weapon offensively.
I'd be different if the kid was hesitant, or not smart, or as aggressive as he is.
He surplants Arty whose gifts are evident, but his game is far from complete.
Korchinski was an up n comer his draft yr. someone who was climbing the board on promise, not production. He wasn't taken to defend, but to create.
If these two bros. get their development completed they are studs.
But the insurance of Schaefer is pretty much guaranteeing the Hawks defense is set on the top.

Yeah!

If I am the GM I am trying to be willing to help influence the selection through future considerations b/c I am not so sure any trade out comes off as positive with their fanbase. Send them something to take Hagens.
It isn't like they lose by additional adds, unless they see Schaefer as the one an donly alternative...
