That 3rd period for Dallas came out of nowhere. Being down 3-1 at the end of two, I thought they were done for.

The general consensus I've heard is none of the top prospects are essentially NHL ready.

How about college draft prospect, Shane Vansaghi, playing on an NHL club's 4th line?

I get Carle was the shiny new object, but Quinn had a bunch of success in college. So did Hakstol. I'd much rather (especially at this point) have a guy with at least AHL success if not NHL experience.

I'm not over the moon about Blashlll, but this is far from the end of the world.

Blashill had really nothing to work with except Larkin got to the playoffs a couple of times believe I might be wrong. Also believe be won the Calder cup with Detroit ahl team before becoming their head coach. Was head coach for 7 years assistant under Cooper for 3 years. So rather have him the some unproven first time coach. The coaching pool afters Sullivan and carle were basically all about the same.

I think it's entirely possible and you know the individual players a lot better than I do.

I am just reporting what I've read about the top group of 5-10 that there doesn't seem to be a sure fire 100% NHL ready prospect. I think in most cases the talent gets them on the NHL roster even though they aren't really ready. Outside the top guys, I think there are some that manage to immediately carve out bottom 6 jobs, but even then, it seems hard to predict. Again, you know more than me on that one.

I think we all kind of feel similar about it. Blashill isn't flashy and doesn't have NHL success to his name, but he has some experience. He probably isn't the best coach that was on the market, but he also isn't the worst. He has yet to coach an NHL roster that was setup to succeed and win. He does have more experience as an NHL coach than we've had since Q. Not a huge risk to bring him in.

Wow. Per Pagnotta, it looks like Michael Peca will be joining Blashill as an assistant. I'm loving that move. Sorenson stays, and Mike Vellucci (from Pit) is in the running to be another assistant.

I know there are a lot of people not excited about Blashill, but this is turning out better than I expected.

We shall see what type of results he can get from the team. KD better do his best impression of Ryan Poles and get upgraded talent on the team to support his newly hired coach. I was encouraged by the team towards the end of the season especially with the young guns playing.

As others have stated, I wouldn't be surprised if KD does better through trades than he does in FA.

I really doubt Marner would come here (deep breath paul). I think he goes the Boeser/Ehlers route and then trades for some stronger F pieces. I've got this strange feeling that D!ckinson is on his way out, and one of Reichel or Veleno.

I don't see it happening especially when this team is going to be in contention for the top pick again next summer hope I'm wrong.I'm sure playing for a contender is best. However there's always the possibility of coming here and not having all the pressure and scrutiny he was exposed to in Toronto. Maybe Foligno and Bertuzzi convince him. Reichel needs a change of scenery tbh. Then there's also the possibility that KD will try and make a splash but not for his contract and his ghost appearance when it matters most.

Looking at next year's expiring contracts, we have those three plus Foligno, Mikheyev, and Murphy. And we will have two retention slots. Should be interesting to see what happens here.

D*ckinson needs to prove he can stay healthy and demonstrate what he did to earn that contract in the first place, so he probably goes at the deadline. I don't see them getting much for him right now, much as I'd love to be proven wrong here.

I don't think it's that strange. I think he wants out. When he says things like this late in the season last year, it makes me think he will talk to his agent about asking for a change of scenery.

"It's not hopeless - that's not the word - but what's coming to mind is that sense"

"You play the hardest, best game you could possibly put out there on a night, and it feels like sometimes you still come up short. Futile is a good way to put it. I can't speak for anybody else, but for myself, it feels like that."

I must not be getting up to date news, as I had no idea Sorenson is staying, and it makes me happy.

Is Sorensen staying as a Blackhawk coach or he’s staying in the organization maybe as a Rockford coach?

He's staying as an assistant at the NHL level (reeks of Derek King).

Kevin Dean will be moving on as well, so they have one assistant opening after Sorenson and now Peca joining Blashill's staff.

Iam going to boldly guesss you will see a different Draft day Kyle, on that keeps each and every selection theteams owns in the top 66.

Yup, all five picks will be used.

No bundles of draft joy sent elsewhere to move slightly up the boards, because this is a nice class touse them in for longer developing guys, but the draft's strength in that fat middle up to slot 66 are nice seeds to grow the new crop of maybes...

Be pretty something all right. I have watched this game for a looonng time and I have never seen anyone do what McDavid can at top speed. He is a unicorn

To me Sorenson is a lot better tactician for today's game than Derek King.

That was a total "we will keep you around b/c we already have your contract" move and the kids that were here during his tenure have their time with him, and the rest will find experience from other hockey vets/coaches.

It looks like, yet again, I am agreeing with Elbows. F'kn McDavid is like nothing from the old days.
Sure there were extraordinary blazers and power striding racers, but when I watch Edmonton, McDavid like MacKinnon seem to just have jets.

McDavid just flies, and when you see his pure dominance, it is with the speed being the weapon that take precedence.

he could. but bobby would slow to make a move or take a shot. McDavid doesn't slow down to make that decision is the difference.

and i think a very strong argument could be made for Hull to get more recognition as "generational"

Jeff Blashill's relationship with Jon Cooper and work in Tampa appealed to the Blackhawks.

Text from Brandon Hagel: "He teaches you how to play the right way. He’s hard on you but very understanding. You can tell him what you think, as well. He's very easy to approach."
