Does anyone have any interest in Lafreniere as a winger for Bedard? either 2nd first rounder, or Allan, or KK?

I know he is a bit inconsistent but has certainly shown flashes. NYR could use some D depth or better prospects.

Bobby Hull could blow past 5 defenders.

All of whom smoked a pack of cigarettes a day and considered 12oz. curls to be sufficient off ice training.

Go see how much he makes and for how long. Kinda answers the question, imo. Not saying you are doing this, but the usage excuse gets floated out there for Lafreniere but he either isn't forcing his way into more TOI or he has gotten chances, just isn't doing much with it.

Hard pass for me.

Iam going to boldly guesss you will see a different Draft day Kyle, on that keeps each and every selection theteams owns in the top 66.

Yup, all five picks will be used.

No bundles of draft joy sent elsewhere to move slightly up the boards, because this is a nice class touse them in for longer developing guys, but the draft's strength in that fat middle up to slot 66 are nice seeds to grow the new crop of maybes...

Won't he need one of those for Isaac Howard

It looks like, yet again, I am agreeing with Elbows. F'kn McDavid is like nothing from the old days.
Sure there were extraordinary blazers and power striding racers, but when I watch Edmonton, McDavid like MacKinnon seem to just have jets.

McDavid just flies, and when you see his pure dominance, it is with the speed being the weapon that take precedence.

- wiz1901

it will be interesting to see how much more speed Bedard generates from this summer's training.

I don't see it happening especially when this team is going to be in contention for the top pick again next summer hope I'm wrong.I'm sure playing for a contender is best. However there's always the possibility of coming here and not having all the pressure and scrutiny he was exposed to in Toronto. Maybe Foligno and Bertuzzi convince him. Reichel needs a change of scenery tbh. Then there's also the possibility that KD will try and make a splash but not for his contract and his ghost appearance when it matters most.
- BGKarras

Assuming that Marner wouldn't come here, is there an opportunity for KD to get a young forward for taking on a bad contract, so contender can create the cap space to sign Marner?

I know the cap is going up, but most contenders won't have space to take on what everyone tells me Marner is going to get.

I don't think it's that strange. I think he wants out. When he says things like this late in the season last year, it makes me think he will talk to his agent about asking for a change of scenery.

"It's not hopeless - that's not the word - but what's coming to mind is that sense"

"You play the hardest, best game you could possibly put out there on a night, and it feels like sometimes you still come up short. Futile is a good way to put it. I can't speak for anybody else, but for myself, it feels like that."

- breadbag

KD will have to work some magic to get rid of D!ckinson and his contract, would need to be part of a bigger package. I’m all for it, good riddance.

I watched quite a few Ranger games the last couple of years. To me, Lafreniere would be a good 3rd line forward on a good team, with that contract, hard pass for me as well.

Dallas is tight with the cap, Minnesota needs to keep some money available for Kaprizov, Buffalo is looking to make moves, never know what OTT's internal cap is (or CAL, CBUS, ANA). NYR likely looking to shake things up with new coach and badly underperforming, and who knows about VAN.

Likely a lot of options for trades/moves to be made.

I keep reading Kaprizov wants to come to Chicago. Minny said they will make him the highest paid player overall. But if he wants to come to Chicago ,there would be nothing stopping him .

he could. but bobby would slow to make a move or take a shot. McDavid doesn't slow down to make that decision is the difference.

and i think a very strong argument could be made for Hull to get more recognition as "generational"

- Elbows15

Hull was also fast in a straight line, he didn’t have the mobility and speed McDavid does. Also the game is allot faster than it was in the 60s and 70s.

The only player I can think of close to McDavid is Bure and he was also in an era where skating wasn’t close as it is today.

They had little depth scoring in earlier series, but last game that came back. It’s a long series. Lots has to go right for either team.

It’s also McDavids ability to accelerate so quickly. He also gains speed while changing directions. Never seen anything like it. His feet are so quick too.

Bye bye Carolina, amazing how a nasty forecheck takes Carolina out of their game, That metro division is poop, no wonder why 5 of the teams came out of the Atlantic.

I love Bennett’s game and he’s going to cash in, however his new contract will not age well if longer than three years.

Hopefully Boisvert, or Vanacker (even though he's not a C) can bring that type of game to the Hawks.

I've got three kids on my radar for next season - Moore, Greene, and Lardis.

I thought Moore and Greene looked pretty good in the games they got to end the season. Wonder if they start the season with the Big Club or go the Nazar route to begin the season.

Unless there’s already a plan in place I’d guess it depends on what they do at training camp.

I think for sure, they go the Nazar route unless they really show out in camp. New system, new coach. He's going to want to put responsible/reliable first so that they can try and be more competitive right out of the gate.

Good call on the coach and could totally see him trying to establish a culture where positions aren’t just ceded to prospects who had draft status.

I don’t know that I was excited about the Blashill pick initially. I do like him spending time as Cooper’s assistant and hope that has a big influence on his coaching style/philosophy here.

While Moore and Lardis get more hype, I really like Green. I believe that Green can become a solid pro, he could end up like a Kruger type with more offense, so will fit nicely on the third line. Of course Moore and Lardis have a higher ceiling, however they also have a lower floor, IMHO.
