I can't believe how soft Carolina has become, they seem so worried about getting checked they just blindly pass the puck away
- BetweenTheDots

Imagine if they’d made that trade for Marner? That’s why KD likes his heart and soul guys like Boisvert, Vanacker, Spellacy, Pridham etc. were drafted.

Florida has them more concerned about defending themselves with a potential check than anything else.

Yeah I got that. I was pointing out how much softer Carolina would be if the Rantenen for Marner trade had occurred.

Honestly i thought Marner took a licking and kept on ticking. Canes are always hands up and moving backwards after they get rid of the puck

If you're worried about contact then you've got to initiate it

And i really get to appreciate the coaching differences in these playoffs games, i thought the Oilers adjustment of skating to the pass especially in the defensive zone really took a lot of energy out of the Stars

You don’t think staying out of the penalty box was the bigger adjustment?

If I remember correctly when Boisvert was drafted ,the commentators said may be the toughest guy in the draft .I believe he is a boxer on off days .

Boisvert’s father is a boxing coach who runs a gym in Quebec. Boisvert has been boxing his entire life. As you say part of his training includes boxing. Remember ex Blackhawk Curt Fraser? He was another guy who was brought up in a boxing gym his whole life and was a really good scrapper. The one disadvantage Fraser had was the grappling part of hockey fights. Along with boxing Boisvert also trained in Taekwondo and MMA so the grappling shouldn’t be a problem. I suspect Boisvert will get a few fights early then most players won’t challenge him.

Actually the adjustment on the penalty kill was excellent as well they didn't chase and were much better at taking angles away from the stars

I really like the coach of the Oilers

I saw a few clips of guys scouting him and they all said he's old school in today's day and age of less physicality he doesn't pass up checking anyone if it's within the play of the game, one guy said its refreshing because as he scouts draft picks he said it's been over 5 years since he's seen a player that consistent on every shift.

Me? Wwll i never thought their first choise Luke would be around for a playoff run. So we now can see if another experienced guy lasts until the playoffs look close to achieveing.

And I do think there will be no high end trade for a all-star dominant player until the concensus from with in says, "Get the guy we need now."

My scenarios is acquiring Brady Tkachuk when he is truly asking out in Ottawa down the road.

Would you trade Bedard for Brady Tkachuk?

Could itbe he wanst to go back to the team he was drafted, the Bruins?

A donato departure just means reading less whining here about the Outrageous Hawk long term (?) signing, eating Cap no matter how few or amny goals he scores.

It is never good to lose a scorer from the previous season, but his UFA staus puts it his future in his hands...

If you were the GM and could not get him signed by the trade deadline, would you have traded him or let him walk for nothing at the end of the season?

Steve definitely keeps this site entertained, what I want to know is how a guy from Glencoe can be so Eeyorish.

Very Funny. I've been a full commission salesman my whole life. Everyday is a depression. Perhaps that's why there is a dark over me.

So I guess on May 25th we’re closing the book on the possibility of Donato coming back here to play next season?
