Even though they have what seems like a different salary cap then everyone else, they have to give up someone if you only have 1 mil and still need 6 players, you don't gain anything by getting rid of min earning players. And look at the lengths, most of those guys are signed to 2030-2033. They'll need min earning players for a long time

Give them back their 1st? making it Lundell and Knight for Jones? Still an awesome trade for KD.

Makes you wonder what the Hawks run would have been like if salary cap did back then what its doing now, like they expected it would.

- vabeachbear

According to puckpedia they have $500k to sign 5 players. They need to make a trade or two.

Hope Davidson doesn't try any big brain moves because there is not much left with free agents .
Think we have to play this year out with youth n the veterans we have. Lottery draft one more year

- HamiltonHawk

We draft 4th next year.

Cannot tell if you are being sarcastic. If not, please explain. What would make him a bust (not playing center? Not playing on 1st or 2nd line? ) and why do you think this considering he just played an entire season in an adult professional league and did quite well?
- Revco38

It's sarcasm.

They can't stand pat. They need to pick up somebody in the mold of Jeannot or Pezzetta. Too many young guys without an ICBM to protect them. There will be a reclamation project like Dvorak who will look at the roster and think they have a chance to play with Bedard and resign for 4x4. A veteran defenseman will be signed. Petry/Schmidt type who can sign here for $1 million more per year than anywhere else and get an extra year of term.
- stevefrmglencoe

Schmidt had an ok year last year. He might work (but fear of a TJ repeat is also a possibility).

When the dust settles, two of our young defense men need to be gone.

Less than an hour until the madness (or not) starts. What's everyone's best guesses to what to expect? Here's my shot in the dark predictions:

Jack Roslovic - 3 years; $12m ($4m AAV)
Tanner Jeannot - 2 years; $3m ($1.5m AAV)
Jeff Petry/John Klingberg - 1 year; $2m
Arvid Soderblom - 2 years; $2.3m ($1.15 AAV)

Carolina extends Stankoven, $6MX8, good young player, but that seems pricey to me. So basically with the cap going up, some GM’s are just going to overpay, there’s no stopping the insanity.

Still can't believe Ekblad took that haircut from Florida but good on him for keeping the band together.

Zito gets flowers for getting Ekblad signed to a sweetheart deal, but that Marchand contract is ridiculous. He's 37 now and it's a 6 year deal. I know the last 3-4 are just going to be LTIR but what the hell.

Trade, per sources:

To #Blackhawks:
F Sam Lafferty

To #Sabres:
2026 6th Round Pick

Lafferty has one year left at $2m.

Hope this means Kyle is moving one of Richardinson,Foligno or some other vet?

Yeah wtf is happening. He also had 7 pts in 60 games last season so why clog up a spot meant for a young guy

Again this is the theory of Kyle, guys who can skate and play on the right side of the puck. The points will come

Rumor has it that Bedard is already showing significant improvement with his skating coach out west.

Overpay, but we can afford it. Almost a PPG player last year, and we need goal scorers.

Either that or it gives them the option of letting some of the youngsters start the season in Rockford.

Bolduc is a nice pick up. Montreal is going to be a really strong team in the next few years.
