No but he did cross over to football and begged George McCaskey to let Ryan Poles can Eberflus. - HawkintheD
Jaylon Johnson has sucked this year. I hate when players wear #1. |

That's the thing, you can't really juggle lines, if you don't have the personnel in the first place - and they don't.
There's only so far that can go - and one of those would be the Reichel thing - slotting in Kurashev there for awhile is interesting, but what compliments that is there is no one else that come close to resembling what Maroon does for a line (and by Maroon I am talking more generically - big body, good hands which also can create a little space out there)... I'm not suggesting every line should like that, but I am saying that Reichel found a little something with that style of a line, and taking him off it after he has ... right now you'd be messing with what little success they have had with him simply to try to see if you can get Kurashev going. And you might not be able to... point being, would it be worth it? - SC116
Exactly! The GM isn’t building for this year. Everyone and their dog knew the team wouldn’t be very strong this season year yet many of us are losing our poop because they’re doing exactly what we expected. I’m surprised, though I probably shouldn’t be, at the complete lack of patience. Making trades for big name older players who no one knows if they’re the right piece at this time. Bringing guys up who are working on the weaker parts of their game, firing coaches for laughable reasons?
As for getting Kurashev to play with Maroon and Smith, it’s possible it will work but it’s also possible Reichel has chemistry with them that Kurashev won’t? And it’s probably best for Reichel’s confidence to stay put for a bit. |

Ha! That's crap. He's sucked the last couple games but the whole year? Disagree. Also shows you how much having DLineman who can get home count.
It's funny how him having a couple bad games coincided with Billiings going out. Just shows you where Poles needs to focus his early round draft capita. In the trenches! |

Justin Jefferson top wr in the NFL. Maybe 2nd best behind J. Chase.
Even Jaylon Johnson is going to have trouble. Jefferson is just that good. |

Two huge PIs drawn on Johnson for about 60 yards. One was for 40 yards ish and put the Vikes inside the 5. Led to a Vikings TD. Bears also bracketed Jefferson a ton today. Johnson wasn’t one on one that much.
He didn’t have a good game. Missed several tackles. Two PIs. |

The QB is for real, i really hope they bring in a football head coach this year. Since Vince Tobin I've been punished with a version of a prevent defense. The only way i know Poles hires the next head coach is if that isn't the core of the next defense. |

A message from Paul Maurice to the BOD. Ok not exactly but I’m passing it on from Lazerus’ column this am in The Athletic…not that it’ll help.
One other note for Blackhawks fans from Maurice: “You guys came to the rink for 20 years, won Stanley Cups and beat the hell out of everybody, and you just assume that’s the way it should go every year. But you’ve got good young players, you’ve got a superstar. It’s just a matter of time.” - HawkintheD
The instant gratification crowd don't want to hear this.
I do like our defensive core better than i have since Nik was traded. That's a long time to wait to build the defense back up. I think it will only get better from here.
The forwards really went to sh it after 2018 season. For a few years the great hope was Reichel but now we have so much more hope.
I really really really really hope they don't do what fatty wants them to do and start wheeling and dealing. Because all those teams he talks about didn't really start wheeling and dealing until they realized they fu cked up many of their draft picks and had no other choice to compete.

He had one egregious PI call and the other one was pretty lame especially when you look at the one where Bynum was mugging Rome in the end zone and no call.
But oh well...Eberfluser.

Fatty, not sure if you mentioned fancies in your latest screed how the AHL is useless, but you do mention them often enough ,in fact corrected me on what turned out to be a long time misunderstanding of one of the fancies I had wrong. ....
We can pick a part each others posts and waste time "I never said this or that" but it comes down to you think the AHL is a waste for most prospects and I could not possibly disagree more. Correct? You say Reichel runs around cuz he's slow in the head and I say we're watching 2 different hockey games. Correct?
Like he was running around out of position with his give and go for the highlight reel goal with Maroon? ..... I will say this in your defense. I can't remember when a guy whose fancies don't match up with the eye test more than Riechel. I'll watch a game and the kid was all over making plays and check his fancies the next day and his CF is 44%. ... So even though the kid passes the eye test often enough he's under water in possession fancies so there is something to that, numbers are numbers.
But, and I'm so tired of repeating this, the kid was lost, told to see puck, get puck, take puck to the other goalie and if you don't you sit. I'd ask you, since then has there been a more dangerous Hawk?
And, it's incredible the consternation a statement that 3 kids who were late rd picks have developed into legit 3rd pairing possibilities and would add much of that has to do with developing at RKF.
As fans who lived thru Timmonen and Q running 4 Dmen thru 2-3 rds of NHL playoffs guys like Crevier and Phillips, who have shown they can get thru NHL games thru horrid circumstances as ROOKIES, are gold, especially at the league minimum salary........... In theory, 5 yrs from now the Hawks will be competing deep into the playoffs up against the cap and would love a Crevier or Phillips to add legit depth at 775k. - Mr Ricochet
That's my point though. When going forward with time and space and the puck on his blade he makes good plays. This is the only time he passes the eye test.
The rest of the time it isn't pretty. It's skating around without purpose (reflected in the stats) and not being able to support the play unless the puck is on his blade and he has space zooming through the neutral zone.
Philly is a bad defensive team. Great he took advantage of it and he's been decently effective as a bum slayer but over 17 games it's been a lot more clueless than dangerous. Maybe something will click but based on last year and this year it's a lot of technical ability and fast skating but not a lot of hockey sense or ability to play against or with better players.

Detroit have placed 6’6” 220 winger Tim Gettinger on waivers.
Another note about Detroit, there’s a rumour that Yzerman was stopped by Ilitch from signing Stamkos in the summer. I’m wondering if Yzerman is on thin ice? |

He is. He played well as a rook for most of the game and you can rip him a bit for him tying the game when Flores went to prevent...but he wasn't overwhelmed by Flores blitz pacakages and was pretty consistent throughout the day.
Of course they lost in the other phases of the game but I like the fact that we do now in fact have a (frank)ing NFL Franchise QB. Just get a coach and some O and D Lineman and we should be good.

Has there been a more dangerous Hawk since Reichel came back from his 4 game scratch? Has there been a Hawk line more dangerous than Reichel's? Did Reichel show off puck awareness to drive the crease, turn to be a target, open his hips to receive and shoot the puck in 1 motion on his goal? ...........
Are Vlasic's puck skills better after a yr in RKF? Did Phillips and Crevier cave as rookies last yr on a horrid Hawk club? ....... How was 7th rd pick Crevier's "slow reactions" yesterday? - Mr Ricochet
Lol, Reichel certainly isn't the most dangerous player on the team. He's bum slaying and not even doing that particularly well. He scored on a 3 v 1. Awesome he scored but I've said multiple times he's dangerous with time and space. Problem is he's very bad when pressured and not good at supporting the play if he's not driving the transition. And he poop his pants before the Maroon goal all alone in front of the net but again all by himself with time and space looking like a hockey player for a few seconds.
Vlasic probably would have been fine if he just stayed in the NHL.
Crevier was on for a GA - coughed up the puck down low which cycled back high for the snipe in the middle of the ice. |

They have to make roster moves or fire the coach - something has to give there. Kyle literally said finishing at the bottom isn't going to be acceptable this year.
Unless they are tanking again and want another first or second. Which isn't outside of the realm of possibilities but isn't what the organization said that it was going to do this year.

He can say whatever he wants. They all do. He can point the finger at himself as well at the end of the season because statistically speaking LR does have this team playing better. No matter how irritated you are about their record, they aren't doing anything unless the deal makes sense for them. So nothing has to give.
Just as a reminder KD said last offseason it was really difficult to get pros during the season because all the rosters were set.
So The only move they have is to fire LR and i don't believe they will
I'm sure his intention wasn't to tank but it's where we are now. It doesn't matter who you hire now the playoffs are out of the picture. Might as well see where LR and the team end up. |

Why does it have to be all or nothing though? Is there no possibility of the Hawks improving themselves by trading one or two pieces/picks in order to get a really good piece? If Norris or Pinto in OTT are available (or some other young productive forward) and are reasonable to acquire I’d say it’s dereliction of duty not to even inquire. |

Sure I might think about our second #1 ‘25 for Norris but too high a price for Pinto. They want Allen or Lardis or O Moore then the answer is no. I reserve the trade option of packaging both of our #1 ‘25 + ? To move up even one or two slots and get the impact star core forward from the ‘25 draft |

It doesn't, but they aren't going to give anyone away the deal has to make sense for a rebuilding franchise. The dereliction of duty comes from losing sight of the big picture of being impatient and what's best for the franchise and its pursuit of winning a Stanley Cup for short term gains because your top draft pick is struggling in his 2nd year as a pro. |

Odds are you are likely fight, but there are several teams that are both close to the cap and horribly underperforming. Strange things can always happen.
Considering the number of reports out there that KD is looking for a center, I wouldn’t be surprised if something does happen, even though it’s still not expected. |

They have 3 high picks right now, their own 1st and theirs and Carolinas 2nds. I would expect an Edge Rusher with the 1st and two O-Linemen with the 2nds depending what O-Linemen they sign as FA's.
