What does everyone have on the over/under for goals from the defensemen this year?

I've got Arty and Rinzel with around 10 each, and about 40 for a total.

- Chunk

I'll go with 50.

Disappointed we wont get to see Frondell in training camp, but I guess it is best he gets the full SEL season to develop.

To me, that raises the huge question of Bedard linemates for this year. The press keep trying to put Donato there, but I dont recall much chemistry between the two. My guess is Burakovsky will get the first crack. With a rotation of Moore/Dach/Lardis on the opposite wing to see what works.

- LetsGoHawks

Frondell not in camp?
So much for starting in the NHL?
Regarding Dach and Slaggert, I think they need to take big jumps or else they will become career AHLers.

My over/under for goals from the defense is 34. As far as up front, both Bedard and Nazar will score 25-35 goals if healthy.

Just signed a Russian Goalie to an ELC.

Went undrafted. Odd as they drafted one in the 7th round.

Again, odd, but as they say, can never have enough goalies. I guess he'll be in Indy??

The beat reporters are saying likely backup to Commesso in RFD. They still don't have any idea if Brossoit will even be healthy enough to give it a go in training camp. Soderblom will get a modest rise from his last contract, and that will be the NHL tandem. I don't think they liked Weekes all that much last year.

One thing I did read was that Nightengale was brought in to be almost a purely developmental coach, so they aren't going to worry too much about the W/L results. I think they'll be a bit better than middle of the pack simply because of the talent, but I wouldn't place any bets on a Calder Cup.

One can only hope they found the next Tretiak, but what are the odds of that happening, given he was an undrafted UFA?

Wiz, anything more we should know about this guy?

Too many moving young guys up and down to win a Calder. That's usually for a team that loads up on guys who are just not good enough to stick in NHL, you know that Pirri's, Sikuras of the world

It was said, the guy they drafted in the 7th was a back up to the guy they were originally scouting. That guy go hurt, this guy filled in and performed better. I would say they probably saw this guy scouting someone else and were impressed.

Signed him to an ELC, not a Rockford contract, so they must see something.

Will be interesting to see what Hawks do with Brossoit if/when he's deemed healthy. Kings are old and in win now mode. Maybe retain and take back a contract for Greentree or LaFreniere (RFA) whom they can't afford to re-sign. Greentree plays with Spellacy in Windsor but his age doesn't match up with their compete window.

22 now, initial draft year would have been 2021, not much data on him by that time. Been pretty solid in the MHL, around .920 save pct, decent in VHL also. Only one game in KHL, went badly. From Novokuzentsk, which is absolutely the middle of nowhere.

Tough to know who will be the linemate until the new coach is on the ice with the players. Might still see Nazar and Bedard. Could see Bedard play more wing. Lots of possibilities. Blashill might have a soft spot for Bertuzzi and play him with Bedard.

I wouldn't count out Frondell at training camp 100%. On June 27th after drafting him, KD said that while the plan is for him to play in Sweden he still believed he'd be able to come to training camp. I know Frondell already expressed his interest in coming to training camp, even if he end up back in the SHL for the year. It's possible that we still see him for camp and he gets that outside chance to stick.

Even in Rockford, he was a liability unless he had the puck with a head of steam. He made a few AHL d-men look silly, but otherwise he was as useful as a jar of warm spit on a hot day.

As of Today Bedard is officially not a teenager anymore. Going into the NHL season at 20 years old he would still be considered young if he was a rookie. I think he will take a good step forward this season, even if it's not a huge difference in point totals, I think his overall game will round out more.
