BUT - think of what it's done for Vlasic and Kaiser now. Theyre ripping shots and who knew Vlasic had that freakin bomb.

I like that its forced these younger guys into expanded roles and also forced them to get the puck to the net rather than just swing it over to the other point.

I think the last few weeks has proven they won't get worse and with Arty and Rinzel coming in the next 1-3 years its not like they're going to pay a guy 9.5 to play the third pairing.

I'd rather see Brodie and Martinez each extended for an additional year than Jones for the next 5 or 6 or whatever it is.

Unfortunately what the team (or you) want is meaningless. Jones has complete control if he goes or stays. For that matter I think he would be ameniable to Dallas, or Colorado. outside chance the kings, I think he would have no interest in any other club.

Why should he want to move? The Hawks have built a nice social club of mercenaries for over the hill over paid players, that know they are only placeholders until KD's draft picks are ready. How can you build any team chemistry when 3/4 of the team know there is no care by management to ice a competent team while they are under a (overpaid) contract.

Not saying he really does, but he's said on a number of occasions that he didn't sign with CHI to be on a rebuilding team.

I’d prefer KD targets younger guys like that. The idea of targeting Marner or Rantanen makes no sense in the timeline of the team and it can cause huge problems in the team’s budget. And steer clear of injury prone players like Norris, Pinto or Zegras.
- paulr

Yeah Zegras is injured again. I'd like to see KD move pieces to get younger talent even if it is draft picks and other young players. We've yet to see a trade like this under him yet I think.

Yeah but don't you think if thee was any chance that KD could of moved jones, he would have done it by now? Look at how many more mercenaries he could sign and try and flip.

If Levshunov doesn't play 10 NHL games does his contract slide a year? Not sure if that rule applies to guys coming from NCAA Hockey?

I could go with that being the lineup the last 30 games.
Korch probably deserves more than 30 games to be honest, but if Levshunov's contract slides a year, I see them maybe giving him only 8-9 games at the end of the year.

Yes, Lev's contract slides if he doesn't play 10 games, former NCAA player or not.

Don't worry, they won't hire a good coach yet, you must be on cloud 9

My guess is that Seth has told KD not to even ask about a trade unless it is to a select few teams. As has been beat to absolute death here, it looks like his contract will be more of an inconvenience than a hindrance going forward.

I'd just love to see KD pick up a couple of additional puzzle pieces that at least have the possibility of being part of the solution. They don't even have to be the big fish. I'm fine with medium sized fish.

The thing that irks me the most about this offseason is that their stated goal was to be just a little bit better. WTF does that mean? Then the guys that were brought in to play along with Bedard to give him better options were either kept away from him or played about 6 games. Just mind boggling.

Obviously, we aren't in the room and they very likely have better hockey minds than I do, but I'd love to hear the explanations behind their decisions.

No this burns a Levshunov year so this has been year 1 of his entry level deal.

I guess KFC wasn't gaslighting you after all LA and actually was hoping for better results.

And that he wanted to be the guy.

I think you take away all his pp time and start to cut his ice time in genera now and especially when Levshunov comes up.

Davidson is the problem. He is over his head. Richardson may turn out to be a good coach eventually, but probably better suited as an assistant.

Not cloud 9 at the expense of a guy who lost his job. Too bad for him he didn't get a 3 year extension like Granato. I have to wonder if they reached out to him and if he would take the job knowing there are 4 years of losing ahead of him.

They looked terrible against Columbus. I unfortunately was at that one and I saw Wirtz sitting in owner's box. The too many men penalty last night against Boston was not a good look.

I think Davidson will probably get another draft but would not surprise me to see Holland or some other long time NHL guy come in and take over at the end of the season.

When you put Bedard on a checking line with Richardinson and Joey F-ing Anderson and have him "check" Barkov at home.....you should be fired at the first commercial break. That move to me was the end of LR. I defended him and liked him but he mismanaged this roster badly......Lack of communication with Hall on being scratched, idiotic line pairings, team comes out slow and timid most games and cant hold a lead......Very much reminded me of the Dirk Graham meets Brian Sutter 2001-02 season type coaching moves.

LR wasn't a raging @ss hat but this roster on paper should be FAR more better and players need to be held accountable but he did VERY little to put them in the right spots to do that.

Careful what you wish for. Holland was really good when he didn't have to deal with a salary cap. After that not so much.

I get they've not won games but his assistant GM literally said "where the goals gonna come from" and that's been their biggest issue.

I suppose they had to do something but wow. Wonder what their expectations actually are and who could possibly fix that?
