Nashville?
Their team has probably been worse than the Hocks..at least expectation wise - captainserious
If Trouba is waived. The Hawks can claim him and should. He's solid and mean. Been a long time since they have had someone like that.

Considering the hospitals here i bet this would be one of the cities Trouba would be willing to come to. |

Who's going to claim him? I think he signed with the Rangers cause his wife received a residency there.
https://www.dailymail.co....-bizarre-reason-WIFE.html - BetweenTheDots
Correct, his wife completes her residency in NY next year.
Who's going to claim him? Somebody with 8M in cap space. Friedman reporting Columbus is in the mix. Detroit was supposedly interested in him last summer. |

If that means they'd move Murphy for a young fwd I'd be all for it,otherwise Kaiser/Allan and a potential Korch call up would all receive less playing time |

, if an NHL player has a 15-team no-trade list and is placed on waivers, a team on that no-trade list cannot claim him because the player's contract prevents them from being traded to those teams, even if they are on waivers; essentially, the no-trade clause supersedes the waiver process in this situation.
So if he just puts all the teams at the bottom of the salary cap on it, Rangers are f cked. Knowing Trouba I'm sure that's what he did. |

So are your top two centers Bedard and Nazar? Do you play either on a wing?

I mean if they could trade Seth Jones, get Trouba plus Cuylle and Kakko in there that would be a very nice deal for the Blackhawks |

It depends on what - if anything - changes with the strategy, but I wouldn't count it out. Nazar plays a more complete center game at this point, so I have my bias there.
Personally, I think you tell Bedard that for the rest of the year, regardless of who you play with, your goal is to have more shots on goal than any of your teammates. I think that would best be accomplished with him on wing. |

Just coincidence I am sure, but Ek changed his Headline just after I posted my complaint.

Claim Trouba?
Move Jones?
That wouldn't be bad either. I just assume they'd have to have a taker for Jones before claiming Trouba.
Anything to spark some life into this team. |

I'd do it,just to see if it would give them some offensive output. Nazar with Bedard and Bertuzzi. Nazar is a smaller dude who can skate, Bert is slow, but he'll win a board battle and dig the puck out of the corners, and then like you said, tell Bedard to let it fly |

I agree about Nazar and Bedard and like I said, for all I care they can let Davidson go too,he created the roster.
I don't expect them to win all of the sudden, not with this roster, BUT, if this was the 1st step, and the next step is bringing up Nazar or trading for someone to improve the roster a tad bit(Frost), and the young Bedard/Reichel/Nazar etc.. start to look better an extra win here and there should be expected.
Besides, this year for me was not ablut winning, I expected Bedard to be flirting with 40-50 goals and Reichel to maybe be a mid 50pt player.
98 has 5 in 24 games? Reichel is on the 4th line? - captainserious
100% Though I'm not as high on Reichel as some other people here. |

I don't know how you build chemistry when you don't know who your linemates are going to be every shift. It was comical at times and when i hear coaches say it doesn't matter?
The other thing that pissed me off and i think it peeved KD is when he sat Reichel for 4 games to start the season.
I think it made KD sit back and think okay i got you these vets let's see how you do.
I honestly don't know what the right answer is, but if puck possession is so valuable why don't our dmen work on maintaining it. I bet we give up possession about 50% of the time in games because we are just satisfied of getting the puck out of the defensive zone.
All that said i did think LR improved the defense with better NHL players.
He didn't improve possession though and to me that's a big problem. I don't know how the new coach is going to improve that because in the Rock they play a similar brand of hockey. - BetweenTheDots
I think Luke told Kyle that he couldn't win with this team and needed reinforcements after the Vancouver game when he had his little outburst about no strong players like JT Miller on the roster.
After that the juggling stopped and I think he just kind of quiet quit. |

Columbus is turning into a really nice city and the fastest growing metro area in the country I think right now? Or up there anyway.
Also good hospital system because Ohio State. |

I doubt if Seth will consent to the bright lights and press scrutiny of New York. He'd rather maintain his low profile here.
But maybe Murphy for Trouba, Kakko would be the framework of a deal.

It could be interesting if they bring up Nazar and move Reichel into the top 6.
Your top 6
Bedard, Reichel, Nazar, Hall, TT, Bert. Ugh!!
Bottom 6
Foligno, D!ckinson, Anderson, Maroon, Donato, Smith, Kurashev, Mikheyev.
Of course you probably would move one or two of Foligno, D!ckinson, or Donato into the top 6.
It's not pretty any way you look at it. |

I'm not high on Reichel either. I just figure if it is a lost season, might as well see what he can do with guys that can generate more offense.
He might look good for a short stint and then they might be able to include him in a bigger trade for something of value..? |

The main thing that I've noticed about Nazar is that even for a small guy, he is really strong on the puck, and does not lose it often regardless of the size of the defender. It's like he just goes under them. |

The benchings of Allan and Reichel worked, Steve. It worked! And agreed, if you're gonna scratch an NHL vet of Hall's acclaim and not talk to him beforehand is malpractice.
I was fine with D!ckinson centering Bedard if only to get the little boy to wing. You do you remember last yr of the historically horrendous off the puck yr Bedard had, the worst since fancies had been invented according to Dom at The Athletic, he was best with Foligno statistically than any other player. Like Foligno, D!ckinson has the 2 way game to somehow mitigate Bedard's horrific hockey playing so I was good with that.
But having Anderson on that line made zero sense. Those were wasted valuable NHL shifts that are gone forever and gives the appearance of a rudderless ship. ...... And even though with what I thought was too many and frequent lineup changes none was a firing offense.
Depending on the reason I can be ok with the firing but I'm afraid it could be the first sign of an in waaaaay over his head OWNER. Anyone who has watched the Bears since the 70's, that bastard Reinhorn for 5 minutes and Dollar Bill Wirtz knows bad ownership can and does make for 30-40-60 yrs of futility even in a world class city.
That is my concern and young Danny Boy's seemingly path of least resistance, can't stomach confrontation DNA supports my concern in my world. - Mr Ricochet
You and Paul bring up good points about the owner starting to panic and as much as I despise Mark Lazerus he also wrote a good piece....with the whole telecast disaster and fighting over peanuts in the scope of what he and Jerry make with ad dollars and carrier fees, the Bulls can withstand it....the Hawks? Not so much....gone are all the bros and their T shirt jerseys, and the amount of people you see out here in the Chicagoland area sporting Hawks attire. It has and likely will always be a niche sport, so while we are some of their diehard demographic who will watch regardless, the casual fan who moves their needle.....can they afford to be dog $hit AND not televised AND not have Bedard being THE reason to watch games?
I am and understand the rebuild.....this should have been the beginning of the slow climb from the low point and up....small improvement. Didn't expect playoffs. However, when you are pitching this plan to an owner and asking for patience....when ole Danny boy looks at the standings, empty seats, no TV deal, an app desperately trying to make up lost revenue and a very BLAH crowd at games...he may question his GM and push him....so Davidson takes the easy way out and places the blame on his HC.
Teuvo to me is more disappointing than Bertuzzi. Reason why 59 is on what? his 4th team in 3+ years? 59 needs to look in the mirror and find his game.....if he's hurt, season is lost....shut him down and clean up whatever is making him skate a 50+ year old man because if this is what Davidson signed and Bertuzzi isn't labored by anything......YIKES.

During one of the intermissions last night, one of the guys made a comment that Bedard was seeing the other teams top D pair and top line or top checking line night in and night out, even Hawks home games. He then made a bit of a backhanded comment about how other teams figured out how to always get the matchups they want.
I thought that was a very damning comment on the Hawks coaching staff. - bhawks2241
IF Barkov is one of the best defensive centers in the league and you have last change and PUT your BEST offensive asset against him by choice.....sorry......that isn't the game to make a point the kid needs to play a 2 way game.
Sat there and watched Bedard rarely touch the puck and have AHLer Joey Anderson chip it in non stop......
He should have been fired after the game, or had Davidson gone full Billy Beane and destroy his office and go down and close the door and rip Richardson a new one.
The ONLY thing that is important during this rebuild is developing young players. What young players has Richardson developed? the 3 young Fs all have regressed.....Korchinski is down in the A....Vlassic...sure......kaiser and Allan but I give more credit to Dean for that who pulled that off in Boston with similar young talent. That's the guy you hold on to...Dean. |
