I agree here. This is a marriage without divorce. Zib will succeed, fade or crash as he pleases with the Rangers.

Moving to realism,
Trouba and Lindgren are not in the future. Mancini, Othman, Berard and Perreault, Emery are.

- NYRCeph

Agreed. That being said Perreault probably the only untouchable. The top 6 for the rangers hate playing defense. They need to commit there. The current defensive pairs just do not work.

I'm about to get super critical. I have tickets to the Jets-Rangers game.

The longer you hold on to those, the lower the re-sale value will be!!

JK. I believe we will put forth a better effort against a top team than we tend to do against bottom feeders.

The fact that you have to believe they will put forth a better effort is alarming on its own lol

Would have been happier if Trouba threw his helmet as he did against Chicago two years. Because the effort, or lack thereof, was similar to that game.

That was basically the 6th game in a row with that effort. The difference was always Shesty

You have to think Trouba as a lame duck Captain now. Everyone knows the Rangers wanted him gone and will be by next season, how much influence do you think he holds in the locker room still??

I think after the dust settles, if this team doesn’t win the cup or at the very least make the scf, some behind the scenes things will come out and it will all sound really dumb and infuriating. The way things are being handled. Makes no sense from an outside perspective

At this point, I have to agree there is something going on with the core leadership on this team. I am not doom and gloom over a couple bad games, this is just prospective commentary. I believe they will have a great season overall.
This Rangers core has been through 2 GMs and 4-5 coaches. If the core team cannot get it done this year, then the common denominator has been the core leadership. Some cores have it, some don't. More teams are destined to be really good, just not great. It's hard to win it all. But with the same "passion", "drive" or "give a poopness" issues year over year...I look to core leadership more than GM or coaches.
My 2 pitiful cents.

right now feels like they’re going through the motions of a full NHL season. Got off to a good start, maybe resting on their laurels for a bit and will eventually start playing better again. All teams have bumps in the season so they’re no different

I just think he needs to go back to the old lines. They were at least out scoring their D issues most of the time

I wasn’t even talking about how they’ve played really. Just that they obviously downplayed the Trouba thing. Pretty obvious it was super clumsily handled. Making him captain in the first place was weird

I meant to quote ceph

We still don’t know for sure Drury even tried to trade him. Wasn’t it all hearsay?

Laf will be the next captain. Since he just signed id think they’d want to get the ball rolling on the next wave of leadership. I’d also venture to say that Cuylle will get an A as the years go on and when all the other alternates contracts run out

This rangers team specifically the core doesn’t seem to hate losing. Not a ton of passion from that group or accountability. Trouba and zib pressers were terrible the other night

That is a great way to phrase it. You have to "hate losing". That is definitely a driver for ambition and success. When I played, I hated losing so much that I would do anything and everything to prevent it. And when I couldn't, I would take is so personally that it would drive me to take it out on my next opponent. This team needs that.

Kinda forgot about Emery TBH. Looks like he’s having a decent start, +5 in 8 games with 1 assist. Could use his defense asap. Hopefully he adds some offense but might be a long shot. Guy hasn’t scored a goal in 2 years.

That’s fine he can’t score. His top traits of being a great skater and defender are some of the biggest issues this organization lacks from their defensemen. We have enough players that can score lol

Couldn’t agree more, kids got a motor and a physical freak of nature. If he makes a good first pass, get him up here asap.

Was there anything that led up to that? Maybe some cheap shots by the goalie or maybe they ran ours?
