Sure, but the players will still be bad. - Tojo.
lol yeah you can’t coach this roster into a decent product.
If dubas can’t send out the guys w value for decent returns I think he gets canned before Sullivan. |

I think we all pretty much know Sullivan isn't the coach for the "transition". Give it to one of the assistants under the interim tag. Mandate he increase the roles of the younger players so they can be evaluated. If he performs a miracle and gets them into the playoffs, you know you have a new coach. If they continue to tank, you'll have a better chance of poaching a good HC from another organization in the summer.
Bunting has had his head up his ass all season. Wasn't even close. |

I don't think anyone is getting fired. I think they expected a poor season. Especially with the moves Dubas made. I don't think they expected to have this poor of a season. Honestly the top pick isn't out of sight at this point especially with a few more moves. |

I thought Pickering played well for his first period in the NHL. It's a big jump from juniors to the bigs. Yes, I know he played a month in the AHL, hardly enough to get a feel for the game. As expected, he's not up to the speed of the game. But that will come with playing time.
Ponomarov, I can't say I noticed him much. |

I noticed Ponomarov that shift. Easily his best of the night. He's faster than I imagined. |

Reavo’s career may be done after that hit. Nurse left himself out dry on that one but pure hit to the head. Hopefully Nurse is ok. |

I think they will give him 2 games but it wasn't really predatory. Made a play for the puck and finished the check. Caught all head which was unfortunate, but Nurse pulling up a bit at the last second contributed to it. Strikes me more as a really bad result than an intent to injure. |

Yeah. I believe 99.9 percent of hits to the head aren’t intended to be hits hits to the head, and Nurse should know to take a look coming around the net. I think this one might go above Parro’s and Getzlaf though. |

Just looked at the pens schedule…last 2 weeks of Nov could be brutal and break their season. |

We almost lost to the Sharks after having a lead. I think the whole schedule is brutal at this point. |

I like both of them and I like Beau and Pettersson and Ned. But for the same reason I like them, we should be trading them. They are all really nice complimentary players that would be great to have if you are competing for a cup... we are not in that situation by a long shot.
Beau and Petts I could see headed to Vancouver. Maybe Edmonton if Nurse is out long term.
DOC is going to Jersey, hometown connection and need.
Ned could go to a number of places but I think Colorado makes a lot of sense. |

I am hoping Jarry turns it around this season and gets some value where we can ship him off even if it's for a 5th. Beau and Petts I could definitely see going to Vancouver.
Unfortunately I am not really sure what Dubas is thinking. I can't see this team losing all year long and it not affecting the bottom line with ticket sales at the end of the season. I have a feeling this is going to be a very aggressive offseason, but as many of us have discussed I don't think Dubas is the best to have in that spot. His assessment of players has been terrible. |

I think the blown leads are a red herring. The Penguins don't really have a problem protecting leads, they simply cannot defend at all. They can't defend with a lead, when they're behind, late in games, early in games, etc. |

I really thought Sid was going to score number 600 in OT. It's just what he does, but Blackwood was really really good.
Pickering and Ponomarev both looked good to me, albeit in sheltered roles. I'd like to gradually see more of them. |

Professional hockey players don't have defeatest or loser attitudes. I can gaurnetee you not a single one of them thinks the playoff ship has sailed mid-November when they're only 2 points out of a playoff spot. None of this is to say I think they make it in. I didn't think they were before season started. However, there so much time and crazy unexpected things happen in sports sometimes. |

Beauvillier played in Vancouver last year. I doubt he goes back.
I still want a tough "nobody touches our goaltender" type defenseman in our next trade. It won't help our defense overall, but it may give some of our guys a lift in grit department. Our goaltenders could use some help in clearing the net also.
Pickering is very conscious of his positioning, which is good. He's going to need more time in getting up to the speed of the game at this level. I can't say for sure but playing in juniors last season was just a waste of his time.

Kind of looks like Sullivan has tied his future to playing the younger guys. He sat Graves and Puustinen last night. Graves being somewhat of a shocker. Having said that, Pickering will be sent down when Letang is healthy. As he should, he needs to play and speed up his decision making.
Ponomarov and Poulin have surpassed Puustinen and Nieto. Send Puustinen down and hope he gets claimed. Nieto is fine as the spare part. If anyone wants him, get a cold six pack for him. |

Nieto still looks like more of an NHLr than those two. |

I can agree with a lot of this. I do think if they are serious about taking another run with Crosby, futile as it may be, they'd keep guys like Pettersson and DOC. But as we saw with Guentzel, Hayes, and Glass moves, they really aren't. So they should get value for those guys who will both be in demand.
The one I might hold back is Puljujarvi. I don't think he'll get much in a trade right now, but he could be a useful player for us if he stays. He's been much better at LW than I thought and that side has a ton of openings. |
